My mistake was rushing into setting up tanks. My local fish shop had shrimp and after one week of starting a new tank they sold me on the idea that with water conditioner and frequent cycles I could buy shrimp right away and they would be fine. So I picked up some red cherries and followed that advice as I was eager to get started.
In 2 weeks all but 1 of the 12 shrimp I purchased died. I attribute this to my impatience starting a new tank properly.
My success however was found in doubling my filtration system and a greater hands-off approach. With a staple cholla wood log and shrimp half-pellets throughout the week my colony of 10 metallic BOA’s have now had two rounds of babies, and there are SO MANY swimming around now. I followed all the tips in your channel and once I achieved stable tank parameters I found success in my goal to breed. (Started 6~ months ago)
Now I’m preparing a backup tank and exchanging with shrimp hobbyists in my area to secure my colony. I never imagined how fun this was actually going to be for me but I love it.
