Great video. As Gloria Gaynor said, I will subscribe! Id like to make one but quite a bit bigger. Possibly out of metal. Do you know how one might plan out the resonant frequency ahead of time?
Great job on the video and creating this wind harp. I've made one window and harp and two larger harps that are vertical. I'll have to give your instructions a try at some point the one I made for the window was pretty rough but it does work
I think sheep intestine. Marin Mersenne (the prime number guy) was alive at the same time as Kircher. If I recall correctly, there is a section in his treatise "Harmonie Universelle" where he tells you that you can go to your local butcher and get sheep intestines for free, and then he describes the whole process of making strings. I recall some gruseome diagrams. That treatise also has cool diagrams of microtonal keyboard designs. Anyway no sheep were harmed in the making of my harp.
Whenever the crew of the Starship Enterprise landed on a mysterious planet , someone had preceeded them and hidden an aeolian harp behind a nearby rock. Strangely, the crew never commented on this
I get what you are saying, but a workshop with drills and hardware and basic woodworking tools is not quite comparable to a full woodshop. There is a significant difference between having entry level accessible tools and having the specialized milling and shaping tools that a full shop has. I say this as someone who has a few thousand in woodworking tools and still has so many that I really wish I had access too
The best looking and sounding aeolian harp on TH-cam. Thanks!
Just wanted to say how much of an inspiration you've been for me and my journey. Keep it up 👍 stay YOU! 😎👍

Thanks! Nice, clear instructions
Thank you, great video!
What program did you use to model the box?
Fusion 360, the free version

You can hear what this sounds like on my other channel th-cam.com/video/qKb5obtIzVw/w-d-xo.html
Sounds great!
The string would have most likely been cat gut right?

Very cool. Do you think something like a pinwheel (think garden/lawns) could strobe the sound on something like this?
What is the size of the scale and what tuning did you use?
Cool
Next time get the wood supplier to make your cuts, if they offer that service. Home Depot does.
If the saw is working :/
But yeah :D

"...the godfather of all weird and wonderful musical instruments..." No, that would be YOU, Mike! XD
"Unsung" 😭😭😭😭
@@MichaelKrzyzaniak Well then... I will just have to sing your praises a bit louder! ;-)
Well done, looks and sounds (I channel hopped) great 👍
I was expecting some wind playing at the end of the video :(
Im working on it :)
Almost no tools ...just a workshop full of all kinds of different saws and drills and hardware etc...etc... lol

Yeah you're not really gonna be able to do any woodworking with just a fork and your teeth
