    I wish this were a feature length movie... I could watch your videos of this eruption for hours on end multiple times and see something new and breathtaking every single time. This one practically moved me to tears with how stunningly beautiful it all is. Epic cinematography.

    You are to young to have seen the National Geographic specials of long ago. Your film footage of this event doesn't rival what they did back then, it's just as good if not better, more dramatic and just as awe inspiring and moving. All of your work would make for one hell of a documentary of this volcano. Two thumbs up!

    Do a detailed top down drone view from the current leading edge of the volcano lava to the road and then from the road along the likely route of the lava flow to the ocean.

    Hi, awesome work! I am traveling to Iceland tomorrow and plan to see this volcano. I would love to see this at night but is it safe to hike up at night since sunset is so late in June?

    beautiful shots! what time was this taken? i dont remember it getting this dark even in the wee hours of the morning when we were there 2wks ago

      i took it between the end of may and the beginning of june. on the image, it looks a bit darker than it actually was

      @@leon_frey Thanks. Did you face any restriction with flying the drone? Do you recommend taking trail A or B ? Asking since, I am going to iceland on saturday.

      there are not many restrictions in iceland. there are few protected places where you are not allowed to fly. But at the volcano it is ok. You just must not fly higher than 120 m and you should always have visible contact to your drone. this is important especially at the volcano because there are many small airplains and helicopters flying quite low...
      i am not sure whether hiking trail. I reccomend hiking path A, it is much easier. it's basically a road...
      have fun in Iceland!

      i don't have a preferred time^^ sunset is around midnight i guess (or even later) - and the volcano looks very nice in the dark (it is not real dark at the moment). So night-time is cool;)

    If I ever go to hell, Satan will say "we must go this way" into the volcano. And I will ask "why must we go there" and he would answer "did you think there was any other way?" And as a mortal I would understand that this is the easiest and fastest way down.

      no, i lost it when i was flying too low over a lava flow. the drone overheated and just turned of the engine - and fell into the lava...

    Iceland is on the UK Green list., so I'm booked to go there on the 25th June. Why should drones have all the fun ?
    Sometimes you just have to get up off of your a**e, and go and do the thing for real.

    How far away are you flying to keep it from melting?

      about 50 to 100 m I'd say. It always depends on the amount of lava. The more lava, the further away
