The moment he had lunch with French President I gave up on him, he is not with us just like the AU, ECOWAS, SADC and any other African group of countries under democratic rule.
Could he be doing his "due diligence" out loud... like growing pains? Just food for thought. Important issue is does his conduct sacrifice his people?
As we make progress on the way to African unity, we should not expect neocolonial elected leaders to make revolutionary changes. For now Faye can assist the AES by asking France to allow AES including Niger's oil, to pass through their territory of Benin. He could also allow the AES to use Senegal for access to the Atlantic ocean.
Can't trust him but if he can prove that he can Rebuild ECOWAS and make them change They Policy for People , Action speak louder than Words just talking no action
Thanks for this report. Faye seems to be on a steep learning curve. I don’t know where this will lead him, but I hope he doesn’t turn out to be like Ruto in Kenya. In any case we can only count on Ousman Sanko and the people of Senegal to steer the country right if Faye gets lost in the fog of ECOWAS.

He is in a bind. He wants to be on the good side of the colonizers while giving the impression that he is a panAfrican. He has also tied up Sonko. Sonko needs to take over from Faye. Otherwise, ii is just more of the same. Faye needs to be careful. A double minded person is a liability even to himself..
I think a Senegalese thought on Faye’s behaviour could help here. Faye like sonko, believes power is for the people ,has a background of tax collection and is fighting the French companies Total&co. for assets control. It’s not an easy task. Senegal & Ivory Coast are not on par with Burkina Faso. France has invested heavily . Faye as well as sonko know it’s a game of chess ♟️

From the point, he was being lauded by France, the past President, the west, etc., I was suspicious. I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt, even when his 'body language' kept exuding 'scared puppy'. With those supporting him, it could not possibly bode well. ECOWAS will take the loan for an army, the people Will need to pay the loan, after ECOWAS take it's share, the army will come from the people as a job, that they will pay taxes to repay the loan. However, ECOWAS gets to dictate how they are used
