Remember Nigeria threatened War against Niger because Nigerian wants to be sovereign , they also cut the electricity to Niger . That's not how you treat your family . It's a BIG SHAME that today in 2024 members of an organization called the ECONOMIC SOCIETY of WEST AFRICAN STATES have to discuss boundries in telecommunication.
    Huge numbers of traffic control checkpoints, police and customs brutality at borders. No fitting infrastructure and bad organization for farmers and fishers and youth fleeing their countries... How is that economically helping the block?
    What was the purpose of ECOWAS again?

    Brilliant contributions from all the speakers. This shows there is a common understanding of the problems confronting this body that have remained flat-footed to move swiftly in the path of sustainable development. The c'evil servants in Nigeria and Ghana or should I say the police & Customs in those two countries are a bunch of extortioners. Also when you come down to the levels of citizenry in Franco-phone countries, it's been established that they have huge disdain for the citizens from anglophone countries within the region, especially Nigeria. What I see lacking here is the understanding of brotherhood. Africans cannot live the West's model of country administration. Leaders in this region should wake up and design the style that fits their cultures not that the ones imposed by the West. The Customs, immigration and the police should be retrained to be more efficient, courteous and stop being corrupt.

  • @aminuabubakar2498

    Since the formation of ECOWAS/CEDEAO , the same topics are repeated which yields no positive results.
    Until the organisation is totally independent then there will be a meaningful development.
    AES countries, Burkina Faso, Mali and Nigér had opened the gate of total independence.
    You can't developed while you are dependent on those that donate to you from what they had stolen from you. They decide for you.
    Before the successful revolution in 1979 , Iran has nothing to show. Today, 45 years after, Iran has achieved a higher status economically, militarily and politically despite unjust sanctions applied on her.
    With the AES countries as models, it is necessary all African countries must removed the "old shirts" for new ones if they really meant real development.
    Thank you Africa View for this report.

    • @jeronimodavidgaroupa5143
      @jeronimodavidgaroupa5143 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good points. The problem is that removing "old shirts" requires money and africans are not ready to afford it bcz they believe that they are poor. Lazyness, personal over spending and ignorance are killing africa. Most africans are literate and ignorant at the same time.
      Africans need to learn to pay taxes as heavy as necessary to fund their gvt, their regional organizations and the African Union. Someone else other than africans who funds those entities will always set the tune to africans dance on.

    This organization, I believe, was set forth by western nations trying to help developing western countries in Africa. The western nations also know that when a road block comes, the African leaders will consult them. They will steer the organization in a way that benefits them. I believe that African leaders in this organization should disband and join AES for a fresh start free from western interference. Time lines should be established and goals set. The future of all African nations is at stake. A role model of African countries coming together with SOLID plans needs to be established as not to waste time bickering and squabbling. 🎉

    Why would Afrikans need dollars when they have their own currency? Unless they are using the dollars to buy American products and be paid to live in America where they can use the dollars, foreign lending is money laundering. It is the result of having a budget that the people didn't agree on.
