    The Samson C02 pencil condenser microphone was made to be used with drums and other instruments, but somehow this cardioid xlr microphone is the best budget microphone for indoor dialogue. In this video we talk about it.

    What microphone do you currently use?

      Boya BY-M1, Aputure A.Lav, Boya HM100 and Boya BY - PVM1000L. I'm in Vietnam ... self-noise is no problem, environmental noise is horrific. The Boya's are a good choice for Saigon, a better mic would not make my YT better. I have 2 better mics, but can't hear a difference. I use the Boya's because 1) Sound good with my voice 2) Cheap to replace if damaged. Am very interested in trying the Samson C02's ... for "coffee shop" interviews. Usually the "coffee shops" don't have a reverberation problem, but they do play background music too loud, and of course, the usually talking from guests. At $100 or so, it's worth a try for sure. Great review, you are lucky because your voice would sound good over a tin can and string telephone. Great show!!

    Great mic but the noise level, awwwwful. Thanks for the video, champ!

    I appreciate your honesty with the self noise levels. I agree, things can be tweaked in post but if it’s quiet to start with, that has to be a bonus. I recently purchased a zoom F1 with a shotgun mic. I couldn’t believe how nosey it was/still is when you raise its levels above 5. Volume 3 on the pre was acceptable but I almost had to “chew” the end of the mic. From your experience and sticking below say $200 what is the word on the street that gives good bang for buck, good sensitivity and a relatively low noise? - I know, not much to ask ......lol - Peter.

    I actually have one of these and I haven't touched it because it had so much noise in my Scarlett 2i2. I'd absolutely go with an MXL 603s instead of one of these, it sounds so much better to my ears, way less self noise

    Did you suggest the Audient Evo 4 with these mics? I think that's the exact combo I want to use at my desk.

      The Evo 4 is excellent. I see no reason why not.

    Sounded great. How far away would you say the mic was to you in this video?

    • @KaganTech
      @KaganTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just a little over arms length. Fairly far off cus I had to move forward to reach it and pull it closer

      @@KaganTech Thank you for the reply. I plan on mounting one on a goose neck to rest next to my webcam, so this seems about the same distance (arms length).

      Is your room treated? My audio sounds hollow with anything more than 6 inches and nothing as good as yours.

    You had me happy till you said don't pair with the tascam lol. Would you recommend instead plugging the mic into your camera if he camera has phantom power?

    • @KaganTech
      @KaganTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have like a C200 or a Blackmagic that has phantom power then yes… that DR40 is the ghetto. Don’t buy any tascams below the DR60D MK II.

      @d-harmcinemapictures2517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KaganTech I thought I was the only one. I have had my TascamDR40 for 6 years and it is the ghetto. I can only use for EXT Stereo because plugging in a mic is awful haha Alright then I will give these a try. Would you say these would work better than a BYO shotgun mic on camera. Also, I have the BMPCC4K

    • @KaganTech
      @KaganTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@d-harmcinemapictures2517 when you can get the mic closer to the subject audio is better. So yes, most likely. You could just get the mini xlr to xlr cable for your blackmagic and use the mic that way. Your cameras preamps are cleaner than the dr40

      @@KaganTech Thank you my good man. I was stuck in between this mic VS the BOYA 6040. You aren't lying at all. Anything is better than that DR40.

    Great video. How well do you think this would work for streaming if it's connected to an Audient iD4 interface?

    Here to see a microphone not your background or video setup you could of recorded this with an iPhone 4, tired of people spending more time on their video setup than on the product they are showing.
