    This is the best video I found on this subject. I am not sure why I have so much trouble with audio.

    Have two pairs of these - one set for streaming choir and one set for a streaming acoustic grand piano! Great sound at this price point for both activities.

    I have this set and they work great for overheads for drums as well as congregation mics hung above them

    The "Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française" was a public authority, in charge of broadcast medium (radios stations and TV channels) until 1974. It was a time when, in France, most medium were supervised by the Presidence and Government. Which is not the case nowadays, at all. This structure was splitted in multiple others, such as Radio France, France Télévisions, and various entities (such as INA, a huge facility in charge of recording archives of every single radio and TV braodcast, for France and many other countries too).
    The ORTF was rendered famous by the skill level displayed in those early stage of "neo-electronic" radio. Their engineers worked relentlessly to achieve the absolute best in sound quality (FM-band was in its early stages), supported the World's greatest team of produced-for-radio fictional programs, teamed up with major brands (Schoeps, Elipson, Cabasse, Beyerdynamic, Revox, Nagra, etc.) to create some of the finest gear ever produced for radio-program creation, initiated live-broadcasted music events on larger scale, operated (and still do) several radio and TV studios located in the "Maison de la Radio et de la Musique" ("House of Radio and Music"), etc. etc.
    And, among hundreds of others things, they set many of the technical principles and standards still used today in radio and TV production. The great Pierre Schaeffer was among them (and his assistant, Pierre Henry). He theorised microphone-specific techniques for voice artists, and, among numerous ones, developped the "groove-loop" in which a record groove plays endlessly forward, backward, in slow-speed, set-speed, etc. This very one became the signature of the Pink Floyd early year recordings, as is or through magnetic tapes.
    In "Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française", only the last word is a bit tricky. In French, "française" means "french" in the feminime form, and must be pronouced "fran say z" (when "français" means "french" in the masculine form, and sounds like "fran say"). Simple. More than you thought ! 😉

    Thank you for this very interesting video and the nice recording examples. I wondering if you ever compared these mics to the rode M5. I am mostly interested in recording piano and wondering if the rode M5 are worth the extra money. Thank you in advance. Christian

    Hi Brother. Thank you so much for your review and testimony. I have four samson Co2 that I use for crowd voice capturing. But either one or two of them are giving me buzzing or static noise after an hour of use. Have you experienced such a thing? If so how did you solve it?

    What adapter are you using to space the mics vertically in the XY configuration? I don't see it as part of the mount bar and I can't find anything similar on your website.

    Can these microphones be used to mic a band for performance as well??

    • @jwpepper1876
      @jwpepper1876  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Reginald, yes, they can. Using the stereo XY would probably be best, depending on how big the group is. You may want to check out around 6:26 in the video for more info.

    Hi I have Qn8 to record my Handpan / Rav Vast and a Roland Cube EX , I tried a few times to record videos but it seems the sound is at times loud or some notes on the instrument are distorted , Would better mics like the CO 2 work better the one that the recorder comes with?

    • @jwpepper1876
      @jwpepper1876  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If using the built in XY mics, and they are close (which they should be), try turning down the gain to about 2/3. We had to do this for recording the live drums up close. And yes, changing out microphones will allow for better recording options.

    When you made your recordings, did you use the audio from the Zoom recorder's built in mic's as well, or do you purely use the audio from the Samson's?

    The problem with modern mics is not the sound quality, it is more like the dynamic range and self noise which this cheap mics tend to have issues with.
