In this video I talk about school and what is wrong with the current school system while I play Black ops 2. Comment any questions you have down below!
College was the one time where I realized (depending on your degree of choice) it can be a complete scam pretty much. The loans are predatory and gross. They have young people taking out $20,000+ loans and that’s just insane to me.
Graduating from college got me absolutely nothing but a piece of paper and a complex that I'm better than others when I'm truly not. Not to mention, the more years I spent in school, thanks to brainwashing ish like philosophy and psychology, I learned that I didn't know anything at all. The more courses I passed, the less I knew for certain. Graduated growing up in the middle of nowhere & literally stuck working dead end jobs like gas stations and fast food even though I'm an "alumni" of the most prestigious college in my state. Like you said, it was just memorization. Soak it up & dump it out because it was all useless and not profitable in any way 😢 Anyways, good video & I agree. The saddest part is that I know that when I tell my bosses, coworkers, or whoever interviews me that I am a college graduate; I can tell that they think I'm lying because of the way I look and my accent😢
Our economy isn’t built for everyone to go to college. Productivity with new technology is up at least 300% in the last 20 years, but compensation is stagnant.
I feel this, when I look back at classes that affected me irl, it was usually the classes that didn’t matter like faster typing, journalism, intro to business, etc. They should redesign it where if you don’t want to go to college, at least you have tools to help you in other ways like as you said, taxes, interviews, etc!
I am still in school right now and i agree a lot with what you said, a lot of subjects are useless like geography, english literature and more. I have always resented school since elementary, i would do anything to skip school. And the school system is very outdated, i think we should be teaching students how to use the technology around us (many people i know dont even know how to use a computer) considering how fast it is developing. Have never watched you before but a lot you said is true.
You sir are awake. But sadly it’s almost the whole population that has had most of their childhood simply robbed , I plan to do something someday at least home school my child . My self confidence was destroyed by school you do any “ worse “ than the rest your shown, if you fail you fail, they’ll keep you working while the other kids play outside and whatever
I couldn’t agree more with this. My years at secondary school from when I was 11 to 16 were utter hell. The subjects were hard and like you said pointless as never once in my future have I needed them. I was also bullied in the years I was there and no one helped me, they instead took the side of the bullies from believing their lies. I’m glad my school days are over.
Wasted much of young adult life with school. Didn’t help me and i ended 40k in debt and i spent well over 50k in total on school. Paid off my debt last year in February 2024. Other things did affect my young adult life but all in all it was terrible for me. I make 102k a year doing jobs where no degree is needed and about to be 30 years old next year. Great points dude cant agree with you more.
For literally one year only, I was given a class about how to get a job (it was like one class a fortnight) and I remember absolutely nothing of that class even the times where I was actually paying attention. Like the teacher barely taught us shit. Such a waste of time, thank fuck that I’m graduating this year 😭🙏
I think its fair to say that the education system is not perfect and needs improvement, and also there is something to be said about who should and shouldn't go to school (maybe some people learn better in other ways). Job interview training in school is a great idea, I remember my high school having career day and we did some stuff like that, but 1 day out of the year is really not enough. However, there is still some benefits to the current education system. Even in those courses that you dont really use in real life, they do help you develop your problem solving skills. So yes "solving for x" will not help you most of the time in real life, but the problem solving skills that you developed while learning those subjects will help you in the real world. Maybe we can find a different subject that both satisfies developing problem solving skills and learning a useful subject, but that is easier said than done. Also as a side note, sure we do have calculators at our disposal all the time, but do you really want to pull your phone out to do basic calculations? Same with googling everything all the time.
@@Jason-ot6jv I think basic knowledge of those subjects are important. But it get to a point primarily in high school where those subjects should take a back side and we should start being taught things that we will have to deal with being an adult.
In my high school we did have some classes that are about getting job taxes and other stuff as u mentioned but it’s not prioritized as like the regular classes such as math or reading and it sucks because like u said we’re not gonna use it but even then the school system wouldn’t really change anything due to certain restrictions they may have and the school board
Not sure if it is the same as in the US but in the UK, they say that the majority of jobs require you to have qualifications but I did not do particularly well but I am doing fine with a well paying job and doing the stuff that I love on a daily basis
You do need the math, reading, science, and social studies/history. Math for how to calculate money, percentages, and just in general for whatever job you want, math is alllll around us and you dont need to look to see it. Reading for obvious reasons and science for understanding the environment around you. Social studies/history is needed so you know how the country was built and made. The college thing honestly depends on your degree, if you get a degree in teaching youll find a job, but if you het a job in arts like music or acting you're more than likely to not get a job and wasted time. Overall good video
@@decapcomix I agree you do need to know the basics of all those subjects. Once you get to high school the learning should shift to real life subjects that you need to know as an adult. I love the input thank you for the comment!
I dropped out of highschool. And I don’t recommend that life decision. But for me it felt like I had no choice. I wasn’t built for that sort of learning environment.
My cousin is one year younger than me and they have 2 college degrees and one is master degree and bachelors degree and it was a waste of time for them
The thing is that the system is set around education of this sort. I woudnt know what to think if with everything I'd invested I went into another 9 to 5 that another person could have spent the same time travelling around the world or getting work experience and communicative skills.
Dude the thing that’s sucks is that I’m in highschool now I wanna start a business but my teachers bring me down and make it all about grades and say how I’ll never be successful
I feel like it’s more of a government matter rather than a school itself matter. For instance, in my county there’s a required class in order to graduate called The Econ & Personal Finance which covers ALL the day to day stuff. And it’s not just reading from a book but genuine simulations and projects and all and it was a really fun class. We covered home buying, investing, bank accounts, working a job, managing time, among a plethora of things. And as I said before, the class is a requirement to graduate. I feel like the best thing to do is rather than blame school and say it’s pointless people should write their local government and school board! Freedom of speech and press! If they don’t listen then write the state government; state legislatures and state senators. I’m in high school and parts of school really suck, but school isn’t a waste because of some flaws. We can make the changes, we just need to make the effort! And I don’t mean this as a hate comment, you made a great video and i subscribed too. I’m just sharing my experience and the way I see things
Honestly go to a trade or something. Trade schools are less expensive, can be done remotely (to an extent) and you can do it on your own time. Im planning on going into tech reapir and i already have some knowledge.
I think part of the school school structure has kids do stuff they don't like to prepare ppl to have to deal with shit they hate all day when they get to adult life. not saying that's good or bad or whatever, just an observation
Why do I keep getting recommended channels that give life advice to gameplay of old call of dutys? I like it lol but I kind of wanna buy you guys the new cod 😂
It’s like school sets you up to strictly college and not any low level type stuff like how to get a drivers license how to do this how to do that and everything you said about basic adulthood shit
College isn't about how smart you are. It's about your ability to bullshit stuff. Most students cheat on tests and most professors cram as much content into one week so you spend as much time as humanly possible on school work. Mosts college are like this and their degrees are getting outdated and everyone has that now so a college degree is no longer viable as a competitive advantage. But you need the degree so you can keep up with other people. You need the degree because your parents have delusions that they need to keep up. College is a scam, a joke, and a waste of time.
I disagree. I think our parents and our community should be teaching us how live. You said it yourself, you learnt this all on the fly. So whats the point of school, anyway? Why not start working at 12 and learn everything you need to know the hard way?
