Great video!! It's good to see that local councils around London are making good progress, despite Sunak's plans against such drastic changes. Also I'd love to hear your London borough cycling rankings!!
I think the Kings's Stairs in question are the ones by the side of the Angel pub that's on the left just before you turn off towards King's Stairs Garden. On the right just before that turn are the remains of the King Edward III manor house: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Edward_III_manor_house
Your idea to rank the boroughs is an excellent one. Please do a video for it. And it was lovely to remember what sunny weather was like via this video.
Absolutely loved this! You continue to fill in huge gaps in my memory of London, and now I have a 'feel' for areas I never got to explore in my sojourns back there. Your nod to history as well as fascinating routes is greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Yes! I was going to mention that, but it does make editing more demanding. I'm so thrilled with what is presented, I thought it a bit rich to ask. What I do is is to have two tabs up on my browser, one being a static screen-freeze of the map he puts up, and the other tab running. I can then stop the running tab when needed to consult the displayed map. What really helps is when the stations and other notable features (not least the intersecting roads) is flashed on the screen. That adds to the impression of actually being there, and cycling along. I love this stuff!
This is definitely a popular request- I’ve tried to make it work but one issue I find is to make the map readable it takes up quite a bit of the screen- i may have another play to see what I can do but in the meantime follow along in the Komoot link!
That's a really handy route and also super nice to see that 2022 summer again. Quietway 5 is one of my all time favourites so great to see new options coming off it. Agree that a borough rankings would be really handy... maybe GLA has a tracker available via FOI?
I would definitely be interested in ranking boroughs. I have a feeling I know what the last ones would be though….. 😅 You could also do a video about what you want to see London like in the short term and long term for cycling.
⚡ *A bunch of us were skatin around part of that area last night,* looks pretty amazin at night ⚡ A cyclist goin the wrong way down a cycle lane came outta nowhere and only just missed me 😱 in almost pitch black.
Many thanks Jon, great video! I cycle the Vauxhall to London Bridge section of this route pretty much every day. I tend to agree that the advance filters for Cyclists at the Lambeth Noth & Waterloo Rd Junctions aren't great. Interested to know what option you would advocate in preference to this design. Imo there are a series of junctions with N-S crossings between Blackfriars Bridge Rd and Borough High Street where priorities could/should be updated
Waltham Forest has some good junctions where they have a separate phase for cycles and pedestrians and the protected lanes go up to the junction - def worth emulating but requires time in the signal phase to be allocated to cycling basically (which is why it doesn’t get done by TfL)
That's a really is nice cycle route! I'd love to see more like this... perhaps do a compilation of the your favourite and/or most scenic cycle routes from point A's to point B's including videos like this one. You're going to have so much fun with this channel.
Question about the map of cycle routes and 20mph zones which you use. How can we contact the creator as there's some missing cycle paths i have spotted around New Southgate and Oakwood and it would be a shame if they spoilt the chance for one of your videos. I appreciate you may not be able to pass on contact info.
Which ones are they? I point out stuff to add regularly so can pass on - there’s a backlog so possibly hasn’t been spotted already. If you’re on twitter you can find him as @safecycleLDN (The zones are actually LTNs rather than 20mph btw)
@@Londoncycleroutes I'm on twittwr and will try that. What I spotted is that there is an off road cycle route shown from Cockfosters to Oakwood. This actually extends north of Cockfosters station to the entrance to Trent Park and east towards Enfield ending unhelpfully at the bottom of Slades Hill. The other detail is there is a cycle path (steep) up from the Pymmes Brook cycle route shown in Orange to Brookside which helps get kids on bikes up to the local secondary school. Both routes are shown on Open Cycle Map.
Great video!! It's good to see that local councils around London are making good progress, despite Sunak's plans against such drastic changes. Also I'd love to hear your London borough cycling rankings!!
Hopefully the government won’t get around to doing anything too drastic! Fingers crossed I suppose
Yes, do rank the boroughs, please! < 3
(...maybe using some kind of colour-coded map so us non-locals can follow? Cheers from Stockholm!)
Oh yes good point, I’ll make sure I explain what borough is what
LTN's work, who'd have thought!
Don't tell Sunak
Absolutely!
4:16 the brilliant Lower Marsh Market to your left. A favourite for this area, with many different food vendors 😊
It’s lovely! I may route a few routes through there

Oh good info! I couldn’t work this out

It really was very sunny haha
What a pleasant ride! Thank you Jon 😄
Thank you for watching!

That’s so great to hear, glad you’re enjoying!
Another great informative video, I love the history bits and borough rankings would be very interesting!
Thank you and it sounds like I should make one!
Excellent vid as always, and yes please to ranking boroughs.
Thank you and I will get on it!
I would love to see you do the rankings for bike routes in London as you mentioned in the video!!
I will get planning!
I love your videos! As a suggestion perhaps add a mini-map of our progress of the route in a corner of the video, some people might find it useful!

I do love C5, I sometimes worry I use it too much in videos and people will get bored which I think is part of the reason I held this footage so long
Another excellent video.👍
Great route! 🙂🚴♀️🚴♂️
Thank you for watching!

Oh no , glad it wasn’t more serious!
6:44 please do! We know Waltham Forest would be first. Rest would be informative and interesting to know.
Haha yes! You know my view on WF

we have had 3 weeks of great weather, 2 weeks in june and 1 week in september, the rest has been crap.
A fair assessment!
I would be interested in the score card of boroughs
I must do one!
That's a really is nice cycle route!

that sounds good - shoot him a message on twitter and I'm sure he'll be happy to add! @@ADAMEDWARDS17
