Hi Andrew..hey have u ever had the sonus fabre electa amator 3 for review..little bit pricey at 10k , but omg..they are a work of art from an audible and visual presentation..solid walnut cabinet with leather and marble..unbelievable..the best 2 way monitor I have heard to date..sound is so sweet to.ones ear!!
Andrew. Have you been able to replicate the feel of Yamaha pianos with tone control and equalizer on other similar speakers, or there is some secret sauce in the Yamaha speakers?
I do like the way you don't waste time. You get right to the point and are very informative. Kristi's thoughts are important, more to the common listener. Which we all are at times.
Hi Andrew, thanks for the detailed review of the NS-2000A. Based on your review, I recently got a pair of NS-2000A. Out of the box the speaker sounded so bad that I was in buyers remorse. However, after playing about 50+ hours to allow the speakers break-in, the speakers started sounding musical. I am rediscovering my collections of LPs again!
I am the owner of the first pair to be sold in Australia. Love the look of these, very well built but they are on the large side. Very easy to listen to at normal volume. The better the amp the better it sounds i find. Swapped out the as2200 for a pair of kinki studio monos and they sound very different.
hey andrew. been watching you a long time! i've slowly come to realize i get to know more about the gear from the non-scripted part of the video than from the scripted part. the scripted part feels...clinical. there's more to learn from hearing your and kristi's personal thoughts as over the years you've revealed your audio preferences and how the gear matches up. do not ever get rid of this section. good stuff ;)
At $8,000 per pair for the Yamaha NS-2000A, I think there is too much competition at lower prices (KEF R11 Meta mentioned in the review are about $6,500 per pair). MartinLogan Motion XT F100 are only $4,500 per pair. I don't think many people would be buying $8,000 Yamaha speakers to play low volume background music, so the fact that they excel at that is not much of a factor for most people.
@@Csnumber1 I will accept that low level listening is important to you and some others, but honestly I have never heard that on any audiophile forum, unless one is trying to use the speaker for normal TV viewing or watching movies. In those cases, one is best advised to use a center channel speaker that makes voices easier to hear distinctly. That's why home theater systems typically have a center speaker.
Yamaha have such a good reputation as an instrument maker that it's difficult to imagine that these wouldn't sound great. Solid engineering with exquisite tuning.
Good morning to everyone tuning in! Hope y’all are having an awesome Sunday! I do like the look of this speaker, but if it came in gloss white…. 🤤home run. I didn’t know you played piano professionally for that long. Thats awesome! My dream is to have a big enough house where I can have a grand Steinway piano. Classic, gloss black. Ugh, what a dream! That’s a great review guys and absolutely love the conversation! Especially the one about differences in how certain speakers handle certain songs as well. Lovely video! Have fun everyone today! 🎉
Total aside, a few years back I had the opportunity to play a custom, matte midnight blue Steinway in a controlled environment and OMG. It was one of the great musical experiences of my entire life. I wanted that piano SO BAD. It cost upwards of $500K but if I were RIIIICH it would be 100% worth it! As for the speakers, yes, different finishes would be nice! I would love a matte color line myself (I think I'm over gloss colors in general). Hope your weekend is going well!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews oh man.. matte blue?! That’s a dreamy setup. I didn’t even think they made a deep blue one. So now I gotta change my dream. I’ve seen gold leaf and such, and those are just show over substance. But a matte blue, ugh. Lucky you! That’s awesome!
Hello you two! Thank you for working so hard to bring us this review. I appreciate that the two of you are musicians! I played trombone and drums during my school age years and continued to produce music well into my 'old age' 😉. So now I have a brand new appreciation for you both! Thank you for the description of a band room to help us to understand what the speakers sound like, and for discussing some of your reference music tracks. Have a great rest of your Sunday!
Yamaha is a manufacturer that makes home audio, acoustic instruments and electronic instruments. Overall they do a good job at it and have for decades. "Respect"👊🤜. Thanks for the reviews guys it's nice to see something beyond the NS-10s. 😊
Thanks! Another great review Andrew and Kristi. First I want to thank you for being the first reviewers to turn me onto the Q-Acoustic Concept 50's. After your review and many others I decided to invest in a pair and remain very happy with their detailed yet non-fatiguing nature. I'm also reassured knowing you still currently keep a pair in your collection. I'm curious if you've ever been approached to review any Rosso Fiorentino speakers? I've seen them on a few of the other TH-cam channels and a couple reviews in print. The one that catches my eye is the Elba 2 floor standers at $7K. From the reviews I've seen these seem to be in the QA vein of detailed yet non-fatiguing but potentially a step up in performance and featuring fine Italian craftsmanship. These may be too limited distribution wise in North America to appeal to you review wise since they only appear to have a single distributor out of TX (Audio Thesis) although apparently in Europe they are far more widely known. Also wanted to say your livestream this past Thursday had a lot of great in-depth discussion. Very insightful. Hoping Andrew can make that Wilson SabrinaX review he hinted at on Thursday become a reality. That speaker has always been a contender for my dream system. Keep up the good stuff!
So happy to hear you're enjoying your 50s! RE: Florentino speakers - No RE: Wilson - First, thanks for tuning into the LIVE. As much as I'd love to have them in-house, based on past exchanges, I'm not sure that'll happen. Some companies don't see value in reaching our audience (i.e., the audience is "not their market"), or they just don't want to be reviewed unless they know it's going to be all positive and/or have input on the review itself. Thank you for supporting the channel!
@@KristiWright I truly believe it's more the latter. With currently 346K subscribers you have far more exposure than the circulation of Stereophile and Absolute Sound combined. Even if only 1% of your subscribers could afford a Wilson speaker, that's still 3.5K potential customers.
Great review guys. Reminiscing the recording studio days with the horrible but classic YAMAHA NS10s as monitors (still used today by most pro recording studios).
I have not heard this model of speaker but certainly would trust Andrews experience on it if I were in the market for a pair. What I WILL say is based on some experience with this brand. In the early 90's I did a short stint selling Hi-Fi gear at a small chain shop in the northeast. Many of the NSA series speakers at every price point were pleasant sounding and bargain priced when compared to other competing brands. As for their electronics, their amplifiers (to include integrated or receiver) were the ONLY brand I knew of that incorporated protection circuitry that would simply shut down the amplifier if speaker terminals were short-circuited. Musical detail ALWAYS went to to toe with any manufacturer of same or higher price. (up to 20% more) Knowing this, when shopping for a flute for my sweetheart at Christmas, Yamaha was an easy choice. Lastly, in addition to Hi-Fi, I'm passionate about motorsports: dirt-biking snowmobiling etc. I own and have repaired/restored several of these bulletproof, fine performing machines. The secret to me is that Yamaha are "MASTERS of MATERIALS", be it wood or metals. I tell my friends and other enthusiasts often, " if Yamaha made dental floss, I'd buy it!"
Greetings from the UK. I was really enjoying this Yamaha loudspeakers review until I saw the UK price. I pound off £6000. Just a little beyond my pocket at the moment, with the price of energy in the UK being beyond a joke something has to give. Still always enjoy your video's and of course the totally unbiased opinions of your better half.
I enjoy the reviews. Although a lot of the equipments reviewed are out of my price range;however it adds to my education of the Hifi stereo equipment and market. Ultimately, it gives better perspective when shopping for audio equipment. New equipments become used equipments. Ten years ago I may not be able to afford a B&W but now I could. I will tuck this review into my memory when a nice used Yamaha comes to market. Thanks for a wonderful review and a clear sense where this product sits among its competitors.
NX-N500 mini monitor powered active A/B Bi Amplification, 25W tweeter, 50W Mid Bass still amazing little speakers for me. 2016 release. WiFi and LAN. Brilliant DAC albeit older now. 24Bit 192KHz . AIFF ALAC, FLAC, WAV, MQA DSD. Mine have a frequency response from 35000Hz upto 40000Hz. $1100, £1000 brand new. I've had them for 6 years or so and they have worked flawlessly for me with Yamaha's MusicCast multiroom streaming software. Supports Alexa and Google assistant and all the Hi Res Music services including Deezer, Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Pandora, Jukebox, Napster, TuneIN, Amazon Music.
Great review as always. I am always intrigued when a major manufacturer decides to make a top notch speaker. Sony ES back in the 90's is one that comes to mind. Kudos to Yamaha. Wishing great sales success.
sorry ive had Klispch for 40 years and have gone through some pretty nice speakers in the last 2 years impact is important to me im mainly looking for more detail and space and air in the music BIG SOUNDSTAGE
These sound like something I'd like. I really like the yamaha live instrument sound. They do it well. I wish they had an entire lineup with a center, bookshelf speakers, and subwoofer to match.
Im in a place where i dont really need any new audio gear. Kinda content right now. (Ok maybe one thing on the wish list..) It almost makes watching these reviews more enjoyable. No stress of decisions…
I have just recently completed my music/ht dream setup, which took me 2-2.5 years to complete, so under no requirements to purchase. However, my daughter has asked me for suggestions for some speakers. I'll definitely mention the Yamaha's after this. Many thanks.
well i wasn't first, but this video takes me back. My FIRST system was a yamaha HTIB. Those 5 satellites and a 50w subwoofer really filled my 10x10 bedroom with sound. I saved my money and eventually upgraded to NS three way towers (from bestbuy of course) and what an awesome improvement. As time has gone on I've explored alot of brands, but never gone back to yamaha. I have never tried their more expensive speakers, but I think they have always made a great solid product at a reasonable price point in all of my experiences with the brand. Thanks for the review andrew.
Nice review! I love Yamaha, and I thought your breakdown of the character of the speakers vs the measurements was really good. I think there’s a level of artistry that designers can give speakers that veer away from neutral… and if it sounds good then 👍. It makes speakers fun rather than an analytical race to all sounds exactly the same. Also, I love the way these look
O think that you were brutally honest with the 805s, describing the compromises of any unbalanced loudspeaker (which it is, by any account). 😉 any loudspeaker that is outstanding with some recordings but barely tolerable with other recordings demand the listener to play what they like, and not what the listener/customer likes. That’s not an acceptable compromise to me at those price points (although B&W is not alone in that trend). Regarding the Yamahas, and coming as someone who actually owns Yamaha musical instruments for around 4 decades, it would be almost impossible to convince myself into buying a pair, unless it really, really impressed me on several demos. Let me be clear that there’s a lot of bias on my side while saying it, but as great as Yamaha is at making pianos, drums, synths, bass guitars and other instruments, I never felt that loudspeaker design was ever one of their stronger points (the same way that most of their instruments are not recorded with Yamaha microphones. They had a foot in some studios with the NS-10s, but not because it was a great sounding studio monitor. Quite the opposite, they were so far from neutral that many said “if a mix sound good on these, it will sound good anywhere” - not a huge complement by any stretch of imagination. 😀 I’m sure many will disagree with me (and others agree) on that perception of Yamaha as a “high end” loudspeaker manufacturer (and this one isn’t that cheap). The way it looks doesn’t feel particularly attractive to me, which certainly isn’t the case with many other loudspeakers at that price range. On another note, I would be concerned about its resale value over time, since upgrading (or changing) gear is not that uncommon with people that put a lot of money on this hobby. Yes, the classic totl 3 way Yamahas and the NS-10s had a resurgence and become an icon for some people, so the prices went (and are) really high. But they both became an icon (like the JBL L100 did), and some visual cues are certainly part of the reason, while these look very similar to what many brands are making for quite a long time. B&W was masterful at understanding it, and I feel that KEF has been following their own path on creating slim loudspeakers with their UniQ design (I will leave the Focal Utopia and Wilson audio on another level, but they also did it in their market segment). There’s always some fans of the brand which will buy the whole system from Yamaha, including the speakers. But I don’t believe that they’ll be able to upset any of the loudspeaker manufacturers who are actually selling more units at these price points. Just by taking a look at their motorcycle business, they were always competing with the other Japanese manufacturers, but when you have someone who wants to buy something like an BMW or Ducati, and has the means to do it, selling any Yamaha is almost impossible - no matter how good Yamaha is at making motorcycles and engines. 😉 I guess these loudspeakers would need to be really special on how they sound to compensate for all they are lacking on several fronts, brand awareness (as a higher end loudspeaker manufacturer) included. While it makes all sense for the marketing people to use the musical instruments card, anyone who’s been awake on any of these decades will know that an instrument is very different from a microphone used to capture its sound, and that loudspeakers are precisely on the other end of the microphone (their job is the exact opposite). Instruments create their own sound, while loudspeakers usually try to translate electrical signals into sound, without adding too much of their own as possible (within several constrains). This is only my humble opinion, of course. 😉
Great show. I was at my local store and the owner said that the mid range driver they had created was something very special. He was saying that it was his favourite speaker in his shop. He knew they are way out of my rice range so I don’t believe he was BSing me. I also didn’t test them as there was no point. I wonder if anyone can comment on that little driver?
Great review. Kristi's comments on sounding like being in a room with live instruments interests me and is what I'd like to have. I bought the Polk R700 and Cinema 50 from your recommendationband they are good. But when I next upgrade, what would you recommend for realistic sound? Years ago I had the British, Mordant Short's because they came closest to live performance sound at a modest budget (I was familiar with Jazz and classical concerts). Perhaps you could comment or even post a video discussing best speakers for realism vs detailed, vs etc.
Hmm. A more direct comparison with the D4 would be the Yamaha NS-3000. That said, I'm liking the new speakers from Yamaha. I think the 3000 and 5000 are not easily acceptable by mainstream, but the 2000As, 800As and 600As are something that's quintessentially yamaha, but more mainstream and versatile, I feel. And they look fantastic too.
Not sure the Yamaha's are for me. But I would love seeing more big speaker reviews, like for example some of Dynaudios mid range ones or some from Wilson Audio as a money not an issue set.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Will do 🤩 You and Kristi make such great content, that I find my self even watching your multi-channel content despite being a stereo only traditionalist.
@@bzdtemp The secret is that they put a huge amount of effort into to the production of the videos, both in terms of preparation and editing. Most other channels are too lazy to do that.
Suddenly wondering why I've never considered owning a Yamaha speaker when I've had their amps & AVRs for years. Guess it's because most dealers in my country don't stock the speakersx maybe a studio monitor or 2 but that's it
Customer: Hey I was thinking about a new receiver but I'd also like to get some speakers from the same brand Yamaha salesperson: I can totally help you with that! Customer: Would you know where I can also find a piano? Yamaha salesperson: oh, those are right over here! Customer: I'm also in the market for a motorcycle. Yamaha salesperson: You're not gonna believe this...
Yamaha definitely ticks the most boxes. And it seems their gear plays best with other pieces of their gear. Leading me to believe, their approach to speaker and electronics design and voicing, is akin to the approach they take with designing their pianos.
Unfortunately, I can't give you the comparison you're likely after because I have very limited experience with those speakers, needless to say, we didn't have them in-house for a side-by-side. I don't like to speculate with respect to comparisons. Sorry.
Ive been looking for some new solo piano tracks. Luna nailed it! As always thanks for the fantastic content. Still one of the best corners of the internet these days. ❤
Well I'm 🫨😲 you liked the piano gloss finish. I've gotta say this in my opinion these speakers sound like the perfect match with The Marantz stereo 705 receiver you reviewed last Sunday! Most people who buy Stereo receivers usually only use it for music listening. It also sounds like if you are a vinyl lover that these speakers would also be the perfect match for a high quality turntable and just really elevate the music experience, especially if these have that live recording type of atmosphere! Kristi 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 well done on your final thoughts! I saluted the TV when I heard your opinions on the speakers! Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys much love & respect!
The Polk L800 Legends are significantly less expensive than these. They're the size of a Reagan class aircraft carrier, but they're cheaper. Could you compare the Polks to the Yamahas? Thanks. Too crowded a market at this price point.
Having made a couple speakers kits, the design the Yamaha cabinet is wise one. Putting the rounded edges where they are, if you are veneering a cabinet, you can simply make two big U shaped pieces instead of six different sides and having to deal with those pesky corners. Nice aesthetic. I first spotted it on Acoustic Energy speakers and copied it on my CSS Audio speakers.
This is clearly the new flagship floor stander inheriting that from the NS-F901. How does this compare with the NSF901 and the NS5000? On paper, this is similar to the 901's but admittedly 3kg heavier and a larger cabinet. Good review. For this speaker, the NS5000 or the F901's, being large speakers capable of +100W RMS, what minimum room size is recommended.
*Morning and thanks for joining us! Anything exciting happen for you this week? My Texas Longhorns are 10-1 for the first time since 2009! We hope your Sunday is a great one!*
Well, it's been a while since we've done this much winning in football but it is FUN!. I bet that lineman is regretting all that trash talk he did a few days ago...nine yards rushing...YIKES! @@ChrisSmithJazzDrumHang
Thank you both. And thank you for saying "3-way" speaker right off the bat.😊 My repeated requests for more 3 way speakers are apparently catching on again. Was so disillusioned when they used to be everywhere in the 90s! Yeah, I'm old😅 but glad to see some manufacturers making more options with 3-ways again.❤
@@KristiWright No doubt it's been a while for UT. Do us a favor and kick OU's butt. Yeah the rushing was beyond sad and I am sure the lineman wishes he'd just shut his mouth. Since I have you, thank you to you and Andrew! I love your channel and have been a loyal subscriber for years. You are knowledgeable, fun to watch, and have great taste in sound and design. Your reviews led me to build my setup with Q Acoustics Concept 50, Marantz 40N, and a Technics 1200GR. I absolutely LOVE the sound and I am super happy....and I have you to thank! Especially thanks your comments about Concept 50. :-) !
I want to try these but I'm interested in the PSB T600 too which are very different. If the Ysmahas sound good for bad recordings then that's a huge plus. These are $7000 not 8500. The cones are made in and assembled in japan with zylon and spruce which is difficult to do. They're worth their price. In fact Yamaha seems to offer more for less
lol ... AUD$10,000 here in Australia ... have learned to look up the Australian pricing first, before watching reviews ... will leave this one to the millionaires
10K is RRP, actual price that you can get from the dealer is much less. For the actual price (around 8K AUD) it's actually a really good speaker for the build and sound quality.
Nice review I’d like to hear them. I love your comment. Where are you implied imperfect measurements in places can make it sound more enjoyable! Great contrast to those that only look at measurements and pay no attention to the sound!! I thought that’s why we listen to stuff
Don't know if that is TH-cam compression or your post video proceessing but when u talk to the camera everything looks dull, poor lighting and washed out colours when at the same time b-roll looks lively and bright.
That was a stellar review. I know exactly what you meant with the B&W's, and if I go for a stereo system only down the road the Yamaha's would be contenders just from this review. My Brother has one of the 10 special edition Yamaha Grand's so understand that also. LOL: THANKS
Great review as usual, thank you both for this. Hope there's a little French brand on your radar right now, called Revival Audio. Just got to hear the Atalante 5. I think you would really enjoy it!
Interesting review and nice that it does so well at low volumes. Still, the KEFs are to die for. Kristi, could you get Andrew to use your Sony STR AZ7000ES in the reviews more when you are doing comparisons with speakers and AV Receivers? Love you guys.
I fell in love with them last year at my city's audiofest. I listened to them again this year and I got the same feeling. They just sound awesome. How would you compare them to, say, focal's aria 936?
Great job like always just wished I’d remember to share this album with you guys. Especially with those Yamahas would love to hear what you thought . Lindsey Webster “Woman Like Me” it’s amazing well recored r&b jazz her voice incredible and she ends the album with a rendering of Over the Rainbow and she takes it home !You and Kristy should try it out with your next system I think you’ll become a fan 🍷
Beautiful looking speakers but that's no surprise coming from Yamaha. I love their products and am rocking their V6A AVR and love it thanks to you and Kristi's review you guys did awhile back. What's the price of these beauties?
Awesome review as always. I would like for both you and Kristi to review the Nakamichi Dragon(11.6.4). I was thinking of upgrading to a Klipsch system with an AVR, but I have seen some reviews that say that this new Nakamichi Dragon is the closest you can get to sounding like speakers with an AV receivers on a soundbar system. Thanks for all your awesome reviews Andrew.
The dragon is awesome but it's still a soundbar system and will never be as good as having actual surround speakers (full system). So you have to decide what form factor you want. But for the same money a full system will beat it hands down.
Yes, I know that tower speakers with center channel, rear surrounds with AV receiver will beat it hands down. But i also think if you purchase a good receiver with say some Klipsch Tower Speakert, Klipsch Subs and Klipsch surrounds with Dolby Atmos up firing speakers you will probably end up spending more money and will also take up more space. I’ve heard some people say that the Nakamichi Dragon is getting pretty close to that theatrical surround sound. I wanted Andrew and Kristi to review them and see what there opinions are regarding this Nakamichi Dragon. But thank you for your input, I appreciate all opinions and comments. 👍
🤗 THANKS ANDREW,KRISTI,FOR SHARING THE PROS AND CONS OF ALL THE CONTENT,FOR PEOPLE TO MAKE A BETTER PERSONAL CHOICE 🧐…and IMHHO…YAMAHA USES THEIR MUSICAL INSTRUMENT EXPERIENCE TO MAKE THEM MORE LIKE REAL INTSRUMENTS 😎💚💚💚
The Yamaha method works well for closely mic'ed recordings that need more ambiance added by the speaker. Some recordings have the mic's further back and the ambiance of the room included in the recording. So that it makes it somewhat difficult to say that any one speaker is best for all recordings.
I have these speakers bigger brother the NS-5000, these are Yamaha’s flag ship model. I was wondering if you will be reviewing them? I’d like to hear your opinion on them. In my opinion the NS-5000 are the best speaker I’ve ever heard so hearing what you have to say on them would be great.
The 500s are stunning, one of the most underrated speakers in my opinion, I don't own a pair but have seen and heard them, if i had the money they would be my choice in a heartbeat
Thanks for the reply, I am ordering them this morning. I have not heard them in person only on TH-cam, but after an exhausted search I am still buying these.l, not just for their sound but the build quality as well.
Was looking for a comparison between these and the R11s... for 1,500 less /pair, those are a better deal. I will stick with my non-meta R11s I got on discount, but if these ever go on sale for half off or better... I will probably own them too. I don't see that happening though as these don't seem to be as mass produced as the Kefs.
If I could afford these I’d definitely be seriously considering them. I’m going to be listening to some speakers from Harbeth this week they apparently prioritise a natural sound particularly with voices I do wonder how it would compare with Yamaha.
Maybe not with those chairs right in front of the speakers, as shown in the video. As far as acoustical treatments, it depend a lot on your flooring (wood, tile, carpet), furniture (sofas, area rugs, etc), windows (exposed glass, curtains, etc). Be prepared to add acoustical treatments in cases where you need to compensate for too many hard surfaces. If building a house from scratch, check out acoustical sheetrock and other treatments available from a number of suppliers, and consider using two sheets of drywall (especially for a home theater that has powerful subwoofers). If you walk into an empty home from the same builder (or even a model home), and start talking, do you hear an echo? If so, you need to tell you builder that you don't want that, especially in your listening room. If you have the money, there are often local home theater installation experts in most cities who can help you with this, but you can also do the research yourself.
You should review Soundstage T6 Atmosphere speakers. Maybe hard to find in the states as they are only sold in Visions Electronics in Canada but for the price, I believe these speakers cannot be beat.
I think the speakers sound great regardless of the Class. Could they be "better" on pure Class A? Anything is possible but I wouldn't expect a night and day change.
Probably. Can't say 100%, but as far as I know they still make their higher-end receivers in Japan - mid-grade in Malaysia, cheapest ones in China. In any case, it has a 5 year warranty, which is lot better than you'll get with most products these days. I know I wouldn't pay that much money for a receiver without a long warranty!
hi love the channel ,want to know your opinion between the martin logan xt 100 vs yamaha ns2000a money is not the issue ,i have parrasound jc5 and mac d1100 preamp so i have plenty of power for either the martins are taller then i would like in my space , thank you Joe
I really enjoy your takes on all the stuff you test. I would love to do something like that. What are your favorite albums to test your combos? I am very eclectic and enjoy everything from Obituary to whatever the other end is. A great album for getting sound stage is Lucinda Williams-West. Spin for best results.
@@andreasmoller9798 not realy when you want to make it perfect. Firstly ou need to measure with REW, where is the best placement. And after that you use a DPS for Crossover, Phase & Time Alignment. The best placement is the Place where youve the highest room gain. After that you use a EQ to bring down the Level. Thats why corner placement is a good start and not what most people say away from the walls
@@vortekkz_mixes might be the best way, but you can still easily set up a subwoofer without dsp to for people that uses stereo amps, thats the way i use my Arendal 1723 1s, and i find it best for music with some distance from the Wall, it has more than enough power on its own without gain, specially for music, that has most of bass around 40 hz
Great vid as always! Regarding your comments about the B&W 805D4s...have you used them, in your space, with room correction? I'm curious if your impressions were different vs running them raw.
Great review you two, but I buy speakers for theater only not just for music. Question? My B&W CM9s are rear ported and they are just 10” from the wall. So, moving them forward some more will improve the sound quality of my speakers? I need to know and how far should I move them?

Another great video, but why oh why, do you not tell us what the price of the speaker is and make me hunt for it?! So odd, that used to be one of the first things that was included down in the corner. I never see it anymore… Or is that just me missing it every single time now??
We don't "show" it anymore because it resulted in people immediately clicking off the video. We often discuss price in the conversation, and Andrew often says the price in his review, so you may just be missing it.
Your reviews are always well prepared and photographed better than almost any other channel. I enjoy and congratulate you and Kristi on that high standard. Wondering if you could possibly do a/some reviews on PMC and ATC speakers. Find them intriguing because of their pro audio based beginning.

I'm not sure for $10k, there is a better sounding speaker.
hey andrew. been watching you a long time! i've slowly come to realize i get to know more about the gear from the non-scripted part of the video than from the scripted part. the scripted part feels...clinical. there's more to learn from hearing your and kristi's personal thoughts as over the years you've revealed your audio preferences and how the gear matches up. do not ever get rid of this section. good stuff ;)
The Yamaha speakers do have more qualities as Andrew explained.
@@jos5067 I would say Yamaha vs the others have different qualities, not necessarily better in all respects.
@@Mark-rw3kwThat’s true, but still important; audiophiles tent to listen at louder volume levels but the WAF factor always there 😢
@@Mark-rw3kw That’s true. I wish to know how they compare to Revel speakers. I own a pair of F208 Revel speakers and I still love them.
Yamaha have such a good reputation as an instrument maker that it's difficult to imagine that these wouldn't sound great.
Solid engineering with exquisite tuning.
Wish the price on these were more accessible, they seem really intriguing. Definitely one of my favorite reviews of yours.
@@gavriushka if you got the cash they'll do them in just about any finish (or so I was told).
@@andrewrobinsonreviews you should not have told me that… 😂
By the way, never heard Luna before. Thank you! I’m sitting here drooling in piano sounds. It’s so good!
😁
RE: Florentino speakers - No
RE: Wilson - First, thanks for tuning into the LIVE.
Thanks for watching!
Always enjoy your reviews! Thanks Andrew!
Thanks for tuning in!
There is a matching bookshelf for this speaker line. But no matching center or sub.
Im in a place where i dont really need any new audio gear. Kinda content right now. (Ok maybe one thing on the wish list..) It almost makes watching these reviews more enjoyable. No stress of decisions…
I love that and I hope more people can get to that place and just participate in the hobby without all the stress.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews 👍
I have just recently completed my music/ht dream setup, which took me 2-2.5 years to complete, so under no requirements to purchase.
However, my daughter has asked me for suggestions for some speakers. I'll definitely mention the Yamaha's after this.
Many thanks.
Very intriguing…thank you for shedding light on this product. It’s making me reconsider what I look for in a speaker
well i wasn't first, but this video takes me back.
Listened to this speaker at the iEar Show today. Very impressive.
The Yamaha are fantastic at lower volumes; how are they when you cranked up the volume?
They rock! Listened to some piano, guitar and electro and they juste sound so clean and precise, yet musical. I heard them on the matching r-n2000a
Nice review!
any loudspeaker that is outstanding with some recordings but barely tolerable with other recordings demand the listener to play what they like, and not what the listener/customer likes.
I’m sure many will disagree with me (and others agree) on that perception of Yamaha as a “high end” loudspeaker manufacturer (and this one isn’t that cheap).
I guess these loudspeakers would need to be really special on how they sound to compensate for all they are lacking on several fronts, brand awareness (as a higher end loudspeaker manufacturer) included.
Danke!
Thank you so much!
You have the Cinema 50 mated to R700's?
That combo would be my end game choice.
Great review! Bravo Kristi!
Glad you liked it!!
Great video as usual! Always look forward to Sunday's review!
Yay, thank you!
Not sure the Yamaha's are for me. But I would love seeing more big speaker reviews, like for example some of Dynaudios mid range ones or some from Wilson Audio as a money not an issue set.
Stay tuned then... Thanks for watching this video.

You and Kristi make such great content, that I find my self even watching your multi-channel content despite being a stereo only traditionalist.
Guess it's because most dealers in my country don't stock the speakersx maybe a studio monitor or 2 but that's it
Customer: Hey I was thinking about a new receiver but I'd also like to get some speakers from the same brand
Yamaha salesperson: I can totally help you with that!
Customer: Would you know where I can also find a piano?

Customer: I'm also in the market for a motorcycle.

Good call on Luna! Always enjoy your reviews. Thanks!
Her music is GREAT!
Yamaha definitely ticks the most boxes. And it seems their gear plays best with other pieces of their gear. Leading me to believe, their approach to speaker and electronics design and voicing, is akin to the approach they take with designing their pianos.
I like the spatial quality of sound from my old Yamaha NS-1000Ms, which I rarely find elsewhere. Can you speak to that comparison?
Unfortunately, I can't give you the comparison you're likely after because I have very limited experience with those speakers, needless to say, we didn't have them in-house for a side-by-side. I don't like to speculate with respect to comparisons. Sorry.
I heard these play already and the bookshelf version aswell. Both very impressive.
Ive been looking for some new solo piano tracks. Luna nailed it!
As always thanks for the fantastic content. Still one of the best corners of the internet these days. ❤
Awesome, thank you!
Another great review. Fantastic episode.

Good morning after this video I better get my started.
Morning!
Kristi... if you could only have one for your home, these Yamaha ns-2000A ... or the Q Concept 50...? and why?
Is the ns5000 next! They deserve some attention please.

Yes, indeed please never stoop to those levels. Stay away from pointless amateur sound clips.
Technically you only need to be a multi thousandaire
Thank you, this is one of your best reviews.
Wow, thanks!
Nice review I’d like to hear them.
I love your comment. Where are you implied imperfect measurements in places can make it sound more enjoyable!
Great contrast to those that only look at measurements and pay no attention to the sound!!

Good morning! Another fun speaker review!!
These sound like they would be very different from my Yamaha NS-1's from 1988, which I still use as part of my HT system.

The way Kristi describes them, maybe not so different from my NS-1's after all! They are just soooo good!
I grew up 🆙 with YAMAHA NS-1000M ; so I feel what you mean 🎉
How about the budget-friendly YAMAHAs; NS-555, NS-444 & NS-333 ?
Would love to hear your thoughts about those 20yrs old beauties...?
The NS-555 is a respectable speaker with a well designed cabinet shape. Good for the money but not a world beater.
@andrew please, i would like to hear your take on them. Esp the ns 777
LOL: THANKS
Appreciate it Lonnie! Thanks so much!
Could you review the smaller NS-800?

Morning! Thanks for joining us! Hope your weekend is going well.
Well said!
The Yamaha method works well for closely mic'ed recordings that need more ambiance added by the speaker. Some recordings have the mic's further back and the ambiance of the room included in the recording. So that it makes it somewhat difficult to say that any one speaker is best for all recordings.
THANKS MARK 🤗😊
I have these speakers bigger brother the NS-5000, these are Yamaha’s flag ship model. I was wondering if you will be reviewing them? I’d like to hear your opinion on them. In my opinion the NS-5000 are the best speaker I’ve ever heard so hearing what you have to say on them would be great.
Congratulations on the 5000 series. That’s a beauty speaker!
These are really nice looking speakers, but I think I’m still going to buy the Q-Acoustic concept 500’s this week.
Yamaha NS-2000 vs Martin Logan XT F100/F200?
would you recommend a subwoofer with the ns-2000a ...? or just run 'em as is?
If I could afford these I’d definitely be seriously considering them. I’m going to be listening to some speakers from Harbeth this week they apparently prioritise a natural sound particularly with voices I do wonder how it would compare with Yamaha.
These come in a bookshelf just FYI.
Awesome review! Id love see a video on an ideal listening room. If you were building a house for example, how you set up your ideal listening room?
Mr. Robinson
Would you consider doing headphone/Earbuds reviews in the future? They are my current obsession and i value your opinion
There are a lot of channels that specialize in headphones and headphone amps.
You should review Soundstage T6 Atmosphere speakers. Maybe hard to find in the states as they are only sold in Visions Electronics in Canada but for the price, I believe these speakers cannot be beat.
Dumb Q BUT...these or Polk R700?
They are extremely far apart in price, R700s are a much better value
Even just for the looks alone, I'd do the Polks
Without a doubt the polks. 8000k for a Yamaha Never!
Hey guys thx for the review 😊 ..
Do you 🤔 these speakers would sound better with class A amplifier? I am just asking .
I think the speakers sound great regardless of the Class. Could they be "better" on pure Class A? Anything is possible but I wouldn't expect a night and day change.
Thanks for a super helpful review. I think I may be addicted to this channel. You two keep up the great work.
Thanks so much!
Great review 👍
BTW is it made in Japan?
Spin for best results.
have you heard to Yamaha NS-5000. Would be interested to know what you thought of them
Would adding a subwoofer make a big overall difference?
With respect to what?
always, but you need to set subwoofers up correct with an DSP (Time & Phase Alignment) and of course Room Treatment & the right placement
Subwoofer always make a difference and good sub can easily be set up even without dsp
Yamaha NS 2000 A or Wharfedale Elysian 4 or Paradigm Founder 120 H ?? If you had to choose only one!!
ok... here we go... the vaunted Q Acoustics Concept 50 vs. these ns-2000A...? and yes I'm aware of the price diff... I'll use an svs micro3000 sub w either. Kristi, what's your take? Andrew..?
I love the Finnish martial 8.5/10 but how much it's cost?
Kristi - I played clarinet too! 🎶
I must say Andrew you come up with some of the wildest praises the one where you stated you the eclipse can be a little jam bandy oh man I got to put that on a T-shirt and a hat.. that's a Fraser two-l where did phrase that I'll never get out of my head it'll pop up periodically particularly when I'm listening to something like deep purple from a lovely little album titled who do you think we are .. and now .
.may we please have everything louder than everything else thank you very much😊😊😊😊
Another great video, but why oh why, do you not tell us what the price of the speaker is and make me hunt for it?! So odd, that used to be one of the first things that was included down in the corner. I never see it anymore… Or is that just me missing it every single time now??
📌 Get the Yamaha NS-2000A bit.ly/3rexoK0 (fyi this is shown to you in the description AND in the pinned comment).
We don't "show" it anymore because it resulted in people immediately clicking off the video. We often discuss price in the conversation, and Andrew often says the price in his review, so you may just be missing it.
@@KristiWright I understand. Really enjoy all your vids though. Keep up all your excellent work👏👏👏
Your reviews are always well prepared and photographed better than almost any other channel. I enjoy and congratulate you and Kristi on that high standard. Wondering if you could possibly do a/some reviews on PMC and ATC speakers. Find them intriguing because of their pro audio based beginning.
Thanks so much! Noted on the requests.
