Hi, thank you for another great video from both, you and Kristi
I like the Yamaha old look and new features, but I was thinking during all the video that another gear is similar in features (HDMI, Dirac correction,...) and finally you talk a litle about it and it's the NAD M10 V2. More compact product, more modern style, class D amplifier, something diferent but also practical and nice.
Regarding the black band that includes the screen, I agree with you Andrew that is a very intelligent and elegant way to include the screen in a classic design.
Personally I think it's nice, and remember to me the vintage receivers that had wood pieces added to the chasis.
In the other hand, as Kristi pointed correctly, if someone has any problem with it, it could select the all black design. But... I prefer the real contrast between the silver and black that the difference in the surface design between the black aluminium and the plastic surface and look in the screen.
I have black Yamaha AVR (RX-V677) and a Yamaha BD-A1040 Blue-Ray/SACD that both like good, but I don't like so much just that difference between the black alluminium and the plastic screen area.

Andrew and Kristi, I just absolutely love the importance and emphasis you two put on style, design, and aesthetics of equipment and pieces as a whole and how it truly does affect integration of one’s lifestyle and choices of picking wisely! It’s too often overlooked by others and not only in the TH-cam space. I have taken an influence for sure and designed my room and my sound system together to be seem less in appearance as to be most inviting for me and others when I love to show it all off!
Great job as always, and thank you again!

I got the R-n2000a with a set of ns-3000 speakers. It sounds fantastic. Very natural, get seperation.
I learnt the lesson to listen to speakers before you buy.
I thought I wanted a KEF active speaker or Dutch&Dutch 8c, but when I listened to them, my ears got tired after an hour or so.
With the 2000a+3000 setup, I listen to it for 11 hours straight one time and never tired of it. It's actually gotten better with time.

@robinsonbrand thanks. I really liked your review. You get that is about sound preference. One isn't necessarily better than the other (the audiolab is great if you like a forward sound) and more expensive isn't always better (the 1000 review showed that its more dynamic than its big brother).

I have the R-N2000A paired with the KEF R3s and I am enjoying the pairing. To be honest, I hated the R3s before and was looking for new speakers to purchase. I thought the R3s were boring and lifeless unless you turned the volume to 50% or higher. The R-N2000A woke the speakers up and showed me their true potential. I am really enjoying my setup now

Love all the comparisons. Two comments. Forgot to mention what for me is the killer feature and so well implemented not to mention extremely rare; the very effective variable loudness control. Not everyone listens to music loud and this is essential to maintain the perceived frequency response at lower volumes. I would like to see a comparison with the Lyngdorf TDAI 1120. Thanks.

Thank you very much 🙏 dear Andrew and dear Kristi for this great presentation of the Yamaha network amplifier. I had an A-S2100 for a very short time. A great device in terms of sound. Unfortunately I got a lemon. The amplifier failed three times within 3 months. It got stuck in the protection circuit when I switched it on. After that I was fed up with Yamaha amplifiers. Two Yamaha mixers have been working here for years without any problems. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your work very much. All the best and Servus from Bavaria

Totally agree with Kristi, that black bar is poorly justified visually, of course it allows to display information, but that information never justifies the width of the bar. The full black version manages to disguise this situation better by not differentiating something that really fails to create a powerful difference.
    Love your videos!

Adding Christy to this channel was one of the best decisions you ever made bro- she has good sense and balances you perfectly. The RN 2000A has a lot of bells and whistles, but it seems like the Audiolab 9000A seems the better component if one doesn’t want/need all of that other stuff. I mean, if you already have a separate DAC and streamer and don’t want that why pay for it?

It is great to see a product come close to what you personally would like to own. An integrated AV amp with room correction is right up my alley! A Zone 2 switch to bring in a tape loop for a tape recorder or equalizer would be a bonus. The silver facade is great and maybe Yamaha could offer a light mode for the OLED display stripe to give a faux silver background with a black letter display? I would love to have one!

After having a little time to think about it, I really hope this Yamaha unit does REALLY well in the marketplace. Mainly because, if it does well, it will hopefully help to push the market into HDMI inclusion with more integrated units, which is only going to result in better choices for the consumer. We should all be cheering it on. 👍 Good job Yamaha!

I'm Team Andrew on this one, although I get how the little racing strip display could irritate some. Personally once you've had a dedicated 2 channel rig with HDMI eARC it's hard to go without. I'm glad it is being added to more stereo's. I think Yamaha hit a home run with this one, it checks a lot of boxes (maybe all of them) and then being noted for having great separation of instruments and voices can be the difference maker when comparing against other amps. I'd love to listen to it.

I have an A-S1200 integrated, which is basically identical to the amp portion of this unit's build. Like many Yamahas, it is a bit edgy and forward sounding out of the box. Leave it on 24/7 and let it break in for a long period of time. I turn the meters off on my A-S but it hasn't been "off" in 2 years. It sounds fantastic, crisp, accurate and smooth as a new baby's ass.
Too bad about the black bar across the bottom, could do without that honestly if going with silver, which is otherwise awesome on this unit. My A-S is black as I got a great deal on it (1K off MSRP) and the rest of my gear is black, but I do like these in silver. Foregoing silver was a tough choice, but a grand off is a grand off - LOL

I agree with Christie about the black stripe being a negative to the design, so I might choose all black if I were to purchase one of these units. Another downside appears to be the lack of MQA support for those of us who enjoy streaming Tidal. Beyond those negatives, I like the connectivity, room correction, inclusion of hdmi is a plus for us as we use our two channel system to improve the sound of our TV set up without having to go full home theatre nerd in our living space. Love the vintage feel of those meters! Would seriously consider this unit for our next upgrade. So close to perfect for us.

QotD. Team Andrew! I like the silver and the meters and the knobs, and the black doesn't bother me a bit.
Suggestion/request: Made in America list (if that's even still a thing. Other than Klipsch or spend 10k+ on any one single item)??? I don't know how international your audience is. If you have a lot of overseas viewers, maybe they'd like to support manufacturing in their respective countries as well??? Maybe worth having a couple "made-in-X" companies/products reviewed???? Just a thought. Thank you for your channel!!!

One thing that I would have liked to see on the R-N2000A is a line out for the few of us that still use recording devices. I agree with Kristi about the black display "clashing" with the silver face. If I decide to get one of these, I'll likely end up with the all black one to "eliminate the clash."

    Soooo glad I saw this!
Until I saw this, I was thinking of eventually buying the Yamaha A-S1200 based on other reviews but I was disappointed as to its “too analog-ishness”. (I gave up LP’s back in the 1980’s.) With the Yamaha A-S1200 (at least “on paper”), it seemed too limited although I loved the look of its build quality and the fact that it weighed almost 50 lbs. among other things. I’m sure it sounded amazing too. But there was no HDMI, thus to me, really no GOOD way to connect a smart TV as well as stream anything directly via Qobuz, my Hi-Res service.
It seems the Yamaha R-N2000A now answers all my concerns and I was elated when I saw this review. “The Future of Hi Fi” is right! Time to save my bucks now.

Nice review. The combo A-S1200 + external DAC/streamer could be more future-proof than the R-N2000A. Those devices seem built like tanks, so both will likely work forever. The DAC/streamer component will likely improve in the following years, whereas the amplifier part has reached a plateau. So, if you have the combo, you may buy just a new DAC/streamer and keep going when the DAC/streamer part becomes obsolete. With the R-N2000a, you are stuck in the present configuration or depend on software updates, but you have to change everything for the hardware update when the DAC/streamer part becomes obsolete. Price-wise, the R-N2000A is about 3.150 euros, whereas the A-S1200 is about 1.900 euros at the present time in Italy. With about 1.250 euros, which is the difference between the two units, you can likely buy an excellent DAC/streamer (i.e., the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition for just 1.250 euros or the standard Eversolo DMP-A-6 for about 900 euros or whatever you want cheaper or more expensive). You will miss only YAPO probably. My apologies for the long comment, but I am just thinking about one of those two purchases and splitting hairs...

Can we just take a moment and bask in the silver face revival? Technics, Marantz, Yamaha - I love that this stuff is back in the US market after decades of Japan-only releases.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting this review, because on paper, this receiver is amazing. I really want to give my ears a chance to hear this with the new Martin Logan Motion series. And as for color, I’m #TeamMe. 😆 Silver, all the way - and what that black bar adds visually is the ability to bring in some black components… because there is always that one component that you don’t already own in silver. I'm Team Andrew on this one as far as design/color choices. I looked at pictures of the Black design and they're two different shades and textures of black. I find that annoying. At least with the Silver design there are some contrasting/complementary colors with the silver and black. What would be cool though is if the meters on the Silver had a black background/white lettering to go with the black bar at the bottom. That's how I would roll...

This amp basically solves every single gripe I have with modern Stereo components and their long stagnation they’ve been in. It’s well overdue to have HDMI in every god damn stereo amp today. Just do it. Also, personally, I don’t mind the black strip on the silver model, I think it looks kind of interesting, but that’s just me. Black unit looks better for sure though.
