Stumbled across your channel, fascinating to watch a world I knew nothing about. With respect, is this an expensive camera set up period, or just for you? So for example, for a big budget hollywood movie production, would a camera like this be normal? I guess from watching some of your videos/shorts I'm wondering what kind of shoots these set ups you showcase are used for! Thanks so much! Love the content either way!

Thank you for the kind words!
This setup would be considered normal to low end for a big budget Hollywood shoot. There are still some accessories (like a LiDAR for focus, additional motors for lens control) and setups (a more modern lens, gear heads for the tripod) that tally up the final cost, if there are no budget restraints. The camera itself is top of the line, but there are still other cameras that you can only rent and not buy (Panavision cameras, Alexa65)

Just stumbled across this channel and seeing this insane build reminds me how my eBay JVC GY-HD200U with its fujifilm lens, Anton Bauer battery from who know how long ago, and DR-HD100 Portable DTE recorder felt, I thought I had a pretty badass right haha even have to get a fire wire pci card to even get the files off it and it does NOT like hot swap 😂😂😂

So we see all the parts prices and we learn the whole thing is worth a luxury car, but no images to showcase it? I don't get youtube anymore

hi, I am from Kenya, always wanting to make films but nothing to start with. I was requesting if by any chance you do donate a camera.

Start with what you have bro. You technically don't need an expensive camera when you are starting. You need to have a good solid foundation for storytelling first. Then gear comes after. Watched many older films and newer films just to learn the history of cinema, where we came from and where we are going. Then now with good portfolio and "awards" from your short films you can start to pitch to shoot with cameras like the A35 or the Venices. I'm Kenyan too BTW 😄. I hope that helps.

Don't buy a $25,000 lens for your short film. I promise you nine out of nine people wouldn't be able to spot the difference between a Arri Signature Prime and a Sirui Jupiter lens without pausing the video and pixel peeping. Don't invest in the body. Don't invest in the glass. Invest in the story and the characters.
