    Thanks for making the video! I knew most of the stuff on here already, but one thing I didn't know was changing the Operating Range in G Hub. Holly Molly, doing that made the DTM 92 drivable for me. No longer spinning out with the slightest turn and now able to attack corners aggressively. It sucks G Hub doesn't automatically change it for you and you have to do it for every car, but now I'm looking forward on trying this out with other cars I had similar issues with.

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Seems like you're not the only one who suffered from this but it's an amazing feeling when you get that 1:1 input ratio after having it set incorrectly for a while, makes driving feel so much more natural in an instant. Also, it's baffling that it's not picked up automatically and if you don't know this trick then you're missing out big time. I wonder how many people have tried sim racing, bought a Logitech, had the steering set up incorrectly and then lost interest because it felt awful.

      In the interests of being completely open and transparent, I do not get paid by RaceRoom 😉 although, I do have a 'VIP pass' which gives me access to the new content they release and also access to a beta version for testing purposes. Every now and then too the devs throw me some redeem codes for a few cars and tracks to give away on my livestreams so all in all it's a pretty sweet deal! More than happy to make this kind of video though, as even without the perks, I'd still be racing and repping RaceRoom each week. It's my favourite for a reason 👍

    There is a big variable in here: you can lower the FFB main strength slider whilst increase the FFB multiplier (car wise) at the same time. With this you also use the full range of wheel torque but with other characteristic. I'm not sure whats the best combination...

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to look into this, although I think lowering the main strength and increasing the multiplier might actually reduce the overall resolution of the FFB. If you set main strength to 50% then you're effectively halving the number of steps available, but then boosting it back up with the multiplier wouldn't add those steps back in again, since it's just multiplying the original FFB values 🤔 maybe?

    • @b.s.7693
      @b.s.7693 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DDFRacer that sounds logic and it most likely behaves that way. But in the end, it doesn't feel worse. So the lack of FFB resolution isnt that remarkable, at least for me (G29 too). Additionally, I didnt go down very low with the main strength. Down to 70% seems to work good (and then increase the multiplier of course).

    Dont worry about replying to this one Dan....but I used LGS.....and oddly, probably because I might have set something up wrong.....but for each car in raceroom I had to set the in game steering angle to 350 for each car or it didn't match up....
    Again I might have set something up wrong....but this was after matching the settings for lgs in the video.....wasn't an issue of course.
    But would be interested if it was something I missed . As I mentioned in my last comment , f1 2020 just wouldn't work right with the wheel
    ..but RRRE worked like a charm apart from having to change the steering angle to 350.
    Either way....going from controller to a wheel, even though its a g29, was like might and day. Took a few days to get used too, but I'm now putting in quicker times than the controller and the feeling alone of driving most cars in raceroom and AC is so bloody addictive I cant stop using using it

      You do realise by saying "don't worry about replying" that I'm going to reply, right? 😉
      In all seriousness mate, sounds like you're having a blast despite a few technical issues with the rotation. How good does it feel when the wheel goes light over crests and gets heavy over bumps? When you get that vibration kick in when the tyres start to scrub? You're right when you say it's addictive 😁 and you'll suddenly find yourself enjoying cars or tracks that you never enjoyed before because now you can _feel_ them for want of a better phrase.
      It was nice knowing you. Please promise me you'll come back at some point to say hi 🤣

      Strange, does it work on other sims or is it just RaceRoom that's having a problem? If it doesn't work on any sim, it might be a problem with the wheel itself (perhaps a faulty power adaptor or USB cable) but if it's just RaceRoom then I'm not too sure. Can you still map buttons if you try to create a new custom profile?

    bro i would you to try this: set your ghub steering angle to 280/320 and then lower the steering lock in car setup of race room racing experience
    to 11 or 12. now you have the same outcome but with faster steering response for those xtra 6 tenth. the standard steering response and turning angle is a bit slow and should be adjusted to your driving instead of adjusting your wheel to the settings of the game. Now because you only have an 280/320 steering angle you dont have to turn the steering wheel more than your arms can turn holding a steering wheel. so 280 degrees settings would only steer your wheel less than 180 degrees left or right wich is optimal for racing tbh. like the F1 cars. * this is something you can tinker with to own style or desires but too low steering lock makes a car way too snappy etc... have fun chasing your ghost *THIS APPLY ONLY FOR THE LOGITECH RACEWHEELS

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the tip 👍 it might work for some people but I'm not a big fan of it personally, it also depends on the car too. Single seaters generally have a much lower degree of rotation in the steering wheel since they're more nimble cars whereas older/historic cars like classic DTM or Group 5 have a much higher degree of rotation since you're applying constant but small corrections. Having a smaller rotation in one of these cars would make it _super_ twitchy and hard to control, as even a small correction can send the car into a pendulum effect and swinging from one side to the other. Smaller rotation can also induce oscillations in the steering wheel for cars that have stronger FFB effects making it start to shake violently from side to side.
      That said, it's rare to use the absolute full lock available in a car unless you're at slow speed and navigating a super tight hairpin (Macau for example). Applying full or near full lock at normal racing speeds usually means you're scrubbing the tyres across the track surface and understeering like crazy, burning them up in the process. If you're feeling the need to apply that much steering lock then it's a good indicator that you're carrying way too much speed through the corner, and applying more lock beyond a certain point isn't going to give more grip, just increased tyre wear. Much better to use your feet to steer, reduce the speed and allow the tyres to grip up. They'll last longer and it'll be faster too.

      @Don_Dotta2786 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DDFRacer true every car has different stiffness or steering angle but the standard settings for me are a bit too slow and pedal sensitivity way too high (snappy) and instant at 25%. standard are good for learning track and corners. after some practise you could try it out.
      yes but in raceroom settings you could change steering sensitivity in advanced tab (50/100). higher settings brings more rumble in the wheels. set this to your likes BUT below 50 you get lag with steering (the real time steering goes off a bit for logitech wheels). i also set logitech software all my pedals very low 10% and pedal sensitivity to 0. steering sensitivity to 100, 280 degree and 40 spring (based on my own car) and boxed option on. (unboxed you feel the end of the rotation better but its also to your likes).
      in game ffb page all pedal release and pressing to 0 because that gives you kinda real time pressing in game, less instant bursts when pressing the pedals. i adjust the steering wheel options in practise INGAME to the rotation that i adjusted in the logitech software and change lock from 16 down a bit (i run 11/12 but this is also desired to your likes). below 11 can end up in a crocodile. FFB multiplier with these settings (and i run some time on different tracks different cars) could be changed to around 1.4/1.5/1.6 but 1.6 does redline heavy on certain spots but also depends car. hint always set a button to ffb multiplier and the graphic for best settings.
      ALWAYS build a setup based on the tyre info in garage after running at least 4/5 rounds. check the tyre info and remember the car behaviour. adjust the settings to your likes.
      hint raise or lower SPRING RATE to start with if heat is an issue with standard settings and go from there. for me that totally works because heat is a neccesity in rrre.
      and yes sometimes you go into a corner with too much speed and that is not even my issue, its the rotation of the wheel compared to the screen thats buggin me from the start with this steering wheel. i drive a car in real life and i tried to duplicate that steering so it felt more comfy for me and did went faster. i actually won a 40min race last night on redbull ring dtm2018 or 19 with the bmw m3 timo glock yellow car lol (ingame)

Is the power definitely connected and the cables for the shifter and pedals secure in the wheelbase? Have you tried using the default profile for your controller in RaceRoom or tried creating a new one from scratch to see if that works too? Is the device properly calibrated in Windows? If all of these things check out then I'd suggest searching on the RaceRoom forums or posting up on their Discord server for some more help 👍

    Great vid Dan thank you for posting especially the bit about having to change the rotation angle per car in GHub..... When i first got R3E and being new to these modern SIMs i went for a good few weeks with mine at 900 wondering why i struggled to drive anything.....
    .. hopefully my CSL DD should be turning up next week so all a bit academic really .... :)... i'd be interested to see where you land with your setup when you get yours... which rim did you go for?

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rotation issue has always been a bit of a problem for me, some sims automatically detect it whereas others don't and it's a horrible feeling when your inputs don't match up. After I rebuilt my PC I didn't have much time to get everything set up before taking part in an 8 hour enduro at Spa in rF2 and, for some reason, my wheel bugged out as I took over the LMP2 car from my team mate for the final few hours. Turning the wheel 45' in real life would turn it 90' in rF2 so it was twice as sensitive as it should have been. Man, I held onto that wheel so tight 🤣 baby movements, tiny inputs and it was probably one of the most stressful stints I've ever done.
      PS. About the CSL DD rim, all will become clear when I put my unboxing video out 😉 but I've been very fortunate and have ended up with two different styles to cover most types of driving...

    1:54 Do I really need to ALT-Tab out of the game? R3E has a setting which matches the in-game wheel rotation to the rotation in the setup. If I then drive a car with a 540° rotation the soft lock enables when exceeding the rotation.

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I couldn't find a way around this one, even with a fresh install of the drivers 😢 Logitech software doesn't connect properly with RaceRoom in terms of rotation for some reason, even with steering match enabled. The option in-game affects the visual rotation of the wheel but that doesn't always match up with exactly what's happening in the wheel. Best way to check is to set it to 900 in the software and then jump in something like the F2 or F3 car which is only around 360 in game. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if it works or not as you'll hardly get any steering in the corners.

  • @JennyGavinWear

    Thanks Dan, really good. One thing, I like the centering spring and it works great in the Logitech G29 settings but it doesn't work in game. Is there a way to fix this, please?

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I'm aware of 🤔 RaceRoom bases the force feedback on the physics of the car and what's actually happening in game, whereas the centering spring is an artificial effect which always adds in resistance regardless of what forces might be acting upon the car. Not sure if there's a way to override that unfortunately.

    Hello i don't understand One thing...With ghub wheel rotation set to 900 the game doesn't auto match correct rotation for car? I must change the Number on the ghub for every different car to have a correct wheel rotation?

    • @DDFRacer

      Unfortunately it doesn't match the rotation, not from my latest experience at least. I've been using a Fanatec CSL DD for a few months now so can't comment on the latest releases of GHUB but when I was last using my Logitech wheel I had to manually set the degrees of rotation in the software depending on which type of car I was driving in RaceRoom.

    Many thanks for this, must admit the couple of tweaks made a difference for me. Can I ask on a separate issue. Six months ago you did a video on an ANSE3D wheel for your G29, but when I watch you, you are still using the standard wheel. I have been looking at the MVHStudios GT wheel, so I am just wondering what you think about upgrading the wheel in general terms.

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Andrew, unfortunately the ANSE3D wheel cracked and had to be retired 😭 which is a shame because I absolutely loved that thing! It actually happened during the middle of recording my Stefan Bellof video if you want to go and see exactly what happened, but yeah, must have been a small crack which got worse over time due to the flexing. I'd still recommend one though, but make sure you don't get too rough or excited with it like I did 👍 although I can't fault the original G29 rim since it's made of very solid stuff.

      Hey Chloe 👋 is the issue limited to just RaceRoom or is it the same across other sims too? Which car are you driving? If it's a front wheel drive TCR then that's quite impressive 😉 but in all seriousness, you shouldn't be getting any FFB doing doughnuts as the front wheels are pretty much stationary and the suspension wouldn't be under much load.

      Been there, done that 😉 although the FFB is rather nice, I decided to uninstall after 2-3 years of spending more time dealing with bugs and issues than actually racing.

      I guess if you're *really* used to the old FFB and have based your driving style around it then it's going to take a long time to get used to 🤔 but ultimately it does feel much better in my opinion!

      Does your wheel work with other games? Is the power pack plugged in? Have you tried using the default wheel profile or deleted and created a new one? Have you tried posting up on the RaceRoom forums or discord server if none of the above work?
