    Some, sometimes. It just makes it easier to get in the hangar with a tug. There are many different devices to move them. The pad is pretty universal. Wheels attached to the skids is pretty standard too but you need a couple of strong people to push!!

    Depends on the model of the helicopter and the engine in it and if it has an extra auxiliary fuel tank. Staying in the air vs range also depends on what you are doing and how much power you are using. In general this helicopter and most "light" helicopters can stay in the air for about 3 hours (cue outrage and examples of 3.5 and 2.5 hrs) with or including a 20 minute reserve. The MD500 model range have a range of about 232-375 miles and fly at about 150kts (175mph)

    It has a version of the Magnum PI's Helicopter, paint scheme "Diagonal bands" Which was a factory paint scheme. They would take some colors that don't necessarily blend well together like green and blue, but as a complete scheme, it has a very nice aesthetic. Kudos to Hughes Aircraft, for their creativity.

    @Hydrahmate Yah good job the big fan beats the bit at the back that sucks. Normally not an issue with the jets. Safety 3rd!

    The Hugh's 500 series is a real pilots aircraft, I like the paint scheme which is the
    same concept that was on the 500 in the Magnum PI TV series, take some colors
    that normally don't go together and produce some awesome visual esthetics.

    Nice clip. Love MD Helicopters. What were the F-18s doing in a civil ramp? Tks.

    Thank you for your answer. I didn't know that the military were allowed to do so.

    @wa22030 , Not to mention it just plain sucks!, the AS350's ground handling wheels are the worst, we had a guy knock himself out and fracture his cheekbone, when the lever flew back, trailers are the way to go.
    Brilliant video, well edited, one of my all time favorate aircraft.

    They land at Boeing Field so they don't have to go to a military base and do all the military stuff. Normally they are training flights and often involve family coming to look at the aircraft which is easier when you're not on base.

    Thats about right, If you found one for 300k It would be a C model or all timed out components. Usually 400k-600k for a 30year old D which usally needs some work. A new E from the factory is about 1.7mil and a new F is about 2.3

  • @motokid032

    Bwahahah..Only a real MD500 fan would notice that is a 500D with the nose conversion!

  • @motokid032
    @motokid032 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh, and why does the 500 sound better than any other helicopter ever created?

  • @wa22030
    @wa22030  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Depends on the model and condition. Probably $300K for a 40 year old running ship and up to a couple of million for a new 530F. I can't afford either so it's a mute point for me!
