Thanks Janis, so many options to choose from when I get to this problem. Some people will never appreciate someone who troubleshoots and gives us a root cause analysis.
The look on your face when you snip that orange wire is priceless! Looks just like how I felt when I realized the problem disabling my power was the power disable feature...
Couple months ago, I couldn't get a SAS 15K drive to power up via the HBA card but SATA drives works perfectly. It took me a quite a few hours to figure out and it works when I tapped pin3 off. The molex to SATA connectors is the solution I am using now.
MB3000FBNWV - I have one of these that I am trying to get to spin up on my test bench but so far, no dice. I have a couple of different cables I have tried too. The cable with the wires only has two grounds and a yellow +12vdc and a red +5vdc. No orange wire though. Any idea on what I could be doing wrong? On the one adapter I have, I tried putting captain tape over p1-p3 - still could not get it to spin up. Tried a couple of disks too.
Update: I wound up purchasing a SAS to USB 3.0 dock. Plugged the disk in and it powered right on and I was able to read and write to it. Uncertain why the other cables and interfaces would not power the disk up. The dock was expensive - $200.
@@JanisRode yes I buy from eBay I contacted the seller he said they work I tried different PC and cable the same .I am trying do a 16 SAS drive 10 k plotting array

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had to scratch his head for a few hours! 😁
Btw, Leslie, was it just comments that contained code that it stopped you from posting?
@@JanisRode I think so.... and web link too.
