I’m so glad that there are still people who believe Beckers are great knives (and don’t only promote super steel semi custom expensive knives). I love my BKs: 9, 14, 16.
1095 or high carbon in general is the age old proven steel. It's easy to maintain in the field. Hundreds of years of mountain men survived with it. Best to go with it
@cecilm3720 I remember when Becker was part of Camillus knives, and his knives have always been well thought of by practical outdoorsmen. Tough, simple, well designed tools that won't break the bank.
Love all the Beckers too. Just great looking ,blue collar , made in NY ( where I live) knives. Just ordered two BK7, the BK7 to me is one of the coolest looking knives ever. I think there made a little better now, I could be wrong I'm sure you know more than me.
Just today received my KA-BAR Becker Nessmuk. It is the OD color coated steel w/ brown plastic handles. I put some tan Micarta handles on it which fit beautifully. First impression: I LOVE THIS KNIFE. I can't describe it. And I'm a pistol-and-lever action guy.
Love Becker knifes! I own 3 but sadly, I tried to replace the BK2 with my BK19 as a camp knife due to its weight and the 19 wasn’t upto the task. I severely chipped the blade going through a knot So bad that thankfully Ka Bar sent me a new one. Excellent warranty!
Any production knife can have a lemon here and there. That’s kind of part of it sometimes. It really depends on how their warranty is and their quality control.
I agree that the nessmuk needs to be flat grind. I'm not a scandi kind of guy but I do keep a cheap mira companion for easy notching and carving. Imo a companion knife needs to be flat grind. A large blade a sabre grind. There is competition between nessmuk and kephart knives. Which one do you think notches better? I'm sure the nessmuk is better for skinning and food prep. Do you think a nessmuk is slicier and better for feather sticking? I don't have a kephart but it seems a nessmuk is slicier
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoorsyeah. I can do notches pretty much with all my companion blades but the super light and cheap mora is a fast way to notch. I keep one just for that. My bk 19 is my favorite bug out bag companion blade. Better than the tops bob I have
They all slice really well, I’d lean on the bk19 over the 16 just because of the wider profile blade which generally slices better. The JG5 being thinner would probably slice better but I like the bk19 better than the JG5 in all honesty, the ergos and the fact it has a slight tactical flare to it would would make it better for edc/self defense. If it’s purely for Bushcraft the JG5
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoorsthank you for your response. The reason I ask is my bk 16 doesn't cut as well as my joker montes 2 or joker corzo which are full flat grind. The montes 2 cuts better than the corzo and is 60 bux a year ago. Has stamina wood. I think I'll have to re profile my bk 16. Make a taller shallower edge. I love the montes 2 but I'm not a leather sheath kind of guy. I like the Becker sheath because you can attach a pouch to put a small sharpener and strop along with fire starting materials. I think it's smart to have what you need to maintain the knife on the sheath. I do carry a worksharp field sharpener as well

I’ve always had a soft spot for Beckers. I carried a BK7 through the Marines as a infantry grunt and still have that bk7
Awesome. :) That could be worthy of a video.
@@cecilm3720 I do have a bk7 video

Kabar Beckers speak to my knife soul too brother 😁 I just love them . My BK 18 is wicked sharp....I want a BK10 next , its one ive wanted for years.
Becker’s are always cool
I’m glad I bought this blade and let you review it brother
Thanks for letting me borrow it
Ok this guys a liar, because I’m the one that bought this knife and let you review it.
This is the best review on YT for the BK19. Just bought it. Thanks for the awesome review!
@@DevinAkin thank you

1095 CV, and the way KA-BAR heat treats it, has always been a favorite of mine.
I've got a BK19 on the way.
@@sopwithcamelus awesome I think you’d like it
Have you tried the esee pr4? How does the kephart esee slice compared to the Becker nessmuk?
The pr4 is good, I had one and gave it away before doing a review
Great review! Awesome testing!!!! Got to share this!!!!
Thank you. I always appreciate it

Huntsman: Really liked your review. Thank you. I bought this on a hunch and you've corroborated why.
@@applesbighatranch6906 glad my review helped! I’ve always been a Becker fan
Nice video brother 👍 thank you for your time & working the knife...im a kabar junkie too I hope to own one of these soon

I picked this up at smkw 3 weeks ago and so far I like it. I do like the jg5 blade better but the handles on the bk19 are way better than Esee jg5
It’s hard to beat a Becker handle for sure. Thanks for watching
Sucker for Nessmuks myself. Gonna go throw one in a cart now
You won’t regret it
Whoa , when’s my birthday, mama I know what I want !!!
I highly suggest it and it’s like $100
How does this slice compare to bk 16 or esee jg5
AZ Welke makes a great sheath for Beckers.
Yea I looked on AZ, he didn’t have one for the bk19, not yet anyways
I think this beats the 16 and 18. What u think
It does in a lot of ways! Agreed

Love em but they sure have bumped up in price since I got my bk2 when they came out. Sadly that’s the way of everything
It is for everything. This one can be got on SMKW for right around $100
I love the nesmuck for cracking bad guys across the face
Sweet muk!
It is. I think it’s my favorite muk I’ve tried this far
