    For decades I've been humming the POP.MID theme, wondering which timeless chart topper I've had stuck on my mind. Finally got my answer. Thanks for sharing!

    Interesting. The "Symphony" definitely sounds familiar. Creative did a wonderful job bringing us forward! 🫡

    I'm listening to old Windows 3.1 MIDI files from 1993 while I work on a web app using my two year old Macbook in 2021.

    Thank you for making the MIDI files available for download. I've been looking for the SFX.mid file for years. Can you also make the SoundFont SFX.sf2 file available? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks again!

      4GMGSMT.SF2 should contain the GS SFX Drum set: github.com/wrightflyer/SF2_SoundFonts

    My uncle gave me his Awe64 card back in the early 2000's. I played/composer smaller midi themes back then and they sounded absolutely amazing because of it... it was always embarrassing when I used MIDI music I made in Klik&Play games I'd sat and made for fun, but when I tossed them on a floppy and went to show my friends, the music on their setup was always horrid in comparison. 😅 I wish there was a virtual MIDI device that allowed MIDI files to play with various old sound fonts, such as the Awe64 ones.
    The soundcard burned out many years ago, but I would love to hear my old midi's again, the way they were meant to be played...
    Oh wow... 5:25 I remember this so well!! It had that mid-90's Anime Opening style to it. I'd totally forgotten where it was from! Thanks! 😃

      I loved the MIDI sounds on my AWE64 until I got a Sound Canvas in the late 90s. th-cam.com/video/2iwgV5s7mO4/w-d-xo.html
      For your MIDI files, you may try Timidity. It should be able to load the default AWE64 SoundFonts and playback your MIDIs.

    I had an AWE32 with the 30 pin Simms and an AWE64 Gold with the 8MB expansion. Both of them had quality sounds and the 64 was quite a bit better than the 32. I also had the Advanced Gravis Ultrasound Max and Ensoniq Soundscape Elite. The Ensoniq sounded wonderful but the effects were canned.

    These demo songs (especially Pop, Overture and Styles #2) had a huge impact on my first steps with music as a child. Does anybody know who composed / arranged these tracks? And does anybody know which software was used? I think that Voyetra Digital / MIDI Orchestrator was very popular in the 90s...

    • @PekkaLeppaluoto
      @PekkaLeppaluoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just skimmed the AWE64 Gold Installation CD quickly and could not find author information other than for the SF2DEMO MIDI files (not included in the video): Kevin Shepherdson, Niko Boese, K.Y. Fatt, Jordan van Bergen and Bjorn Lynne. But the SF2DEMO MIDI files are different, they demo the custom sample capability of the card rather than general style/music capability.
      For the software, most likely something for Windows version 3 and better. Some of these MIDIs were introduced with the AWE32 card in 1994.

      @studioonetutorials 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PekkaLeppaluoto Thanks for the answer! Yes, I still have the MIDI files too. Indeed, the only information available in the meta data is "Copyright (c) Creative Technology Ltd 1994". A shame that the composer was not listed there! Would really like to know who made these pieces.
      Many of these tracks are rather complex (for that time)... with program and tempo changes. Not sure which software was around at that time (apart from MIDI Orchestrator).

    My frist card was first soundblaster, than I bought every new one. I loved them. Then I became professional and moved on to pro ASIO hardware. But my fond memories and musical beginnings come from amiga and these. The composer was a girl pianist called Professor .... I don't remember. She was creative labs' demo maker.

    What soundfont is that using? When I select an SF2 file in AWE32 control panel it says file format is unrecognised. I can only load SBKs and not SF2 for some reason. Any clues?

    • @PekkaLeppaluoto

      It's using the Sound Blaster AWE64 included 4GMGSMT.SF2 SoundFont. Are you using an AWE32 card? If so, I don't recall if AWE32 supports .SF2 SoundFonts, maybe at least the Win95 version of the AWE32 drivers does?

      Do you mean the synthesis/engine, signal or TH-cam video quality? The sound engine is loaded with the included 4MB SoundFont. The signal is recorded directly from the card's lineouts with a pro-grade interface at 96/24. Just recently got the Gold version of this card and the signal there seems to be better, will post sample MIDIs with that card later.
