I personally don’t care for unboxing videos, but I would never be so arrogant as to complain to the video maker that they should change cuz I don’t like it. I simply fast forward through it. Problem solved. Everybody wins.
While you have the heads off double check the sparkplug electrode depth into the combustion area.As mentioned b4 I have noticed some plugs tho claimed to be correct will have the tip not clearing the plug bore in the head and shrouding the electrode. When my old Mopar mentor showed me tbis and I corrected it the improvement was noticable.I did this on my 400 but the same may be true for 440s as well.Really dig your project hope to see it completed soon.
I'm really liking the turquoise paint more and more. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have also come to change my mind about the unboxing portions for all the reasons you stated. I would prefer to know the cost. Perhaps at some point you could do a cost analysis of each section (suspension, engine, brakes, etc.)
Keep doing unboxing videos, Dylan. We who are interested will continue to watch. The others are probably ford guys. Now, about that rear end: If the shop didn't check their measurements and tolerances correctly, they might've given the rear a problem it didn't have. This is why there are tools like torque wrenches and micrometers, because sometimes close isn't good enough. Hopefully it can be fixed.
Exactly.. When installing all new bearings and gears, some people place the gears way to tight thinking once you put them under presser a few times, all the new bearings will loosen up a bit, and things will be great! But that doesn't always work out very well.. I had an 88 Ram D-100 that needed the rear diff' redone, and I had no clue what i was doing, and some mechanic told me to just tighten the gears firmly together, and once i put them under load a few times, they would loosen up and be perfect.. And it did seemed to work just like he said, but the diff' didn't last 6 months before having issues..
If the rearend the you put in that dart is the same one you changed the pinion seal on you may have over torqued the pinion nut causing your noise. The crush washer will be over squished and cause a noise. If you change a pinion seal you should mark the nut onto the pinion shaft with a chisel to make sure you tighten the nut back on to where it came off from as to not over tighten it.
i am looking into getting that same serpentine kit for my 440 dakota build. i have just subbed. i look forward to this build and please include more details on this belt belt drive. i want to support a local company they are in the same city i work in. keep it up.
Balanced driveshaft ? undo the rear U-joint and re-mount it 180degrees to what it is now. (edit - see if it drives better) You can use grease to see the pinion to crown engagement and get an idea of how the gearset is for adjusment. Otherwise it is pretty much all bearings so if you can see the slop you know it is bad. New mill is looking great ! Looking forward to more !
Learn something new every day - I had no idea that there was such a thing as starter-gear-teeth on a torque-converter. Figured those were always on the flexplate. Interesting...
Dylan, I had bought a 72 Challenger that had the Rally Package, which was sport gauge cluster, 8/3/4 sure grip/ w 3.91's and the 727 torque-flite. I had to drive the car no more than 45 miles an hour for 2 hours. The 3.91's where just too much.
Agree! Not worth it unless you're going to the track all the time (and live close to a track! lol) and want the best E/T. Just extra ware and tear on the engine. The built 440 will have no problem burning the tires for days with 3.55's or even 3.23's.
A taller tire just changes the ratio back again. What I meant was, if he is going to change gears, he might as well pick the tire size he wants for the car, and gear for that. If he's drag racing yeah, run tall tires on the street, then swap shorter drag tires for the track.
I would think you messed up the setting on the Crush Sleeve when you pulled the nut for the Companion Flange and reinstalled it. On all my cars I use a Solid Sleeve. Takes a little longer to set up but you can remove the nut with out messing up the Backlash
That's the worst, my dog does the same thing. She will roll around in something funky usually after a bath. Can't wait to see this charger up and running!
You're great, man! Keep doing this! I love classic mopars but currently I am putting a new used 6.5 diesel in my 97 crew cab. Crank broke while idling in the driveway. Lol
the rear end on my old dodge truck was making a weird metal pinging noise when i gave it gas, thought the gears might be worn and chewing teeth. one mechanic friend said it was the rear end and he'd fix it for whatever amount...took it to another friend, he said nah its the universal joint, and thats what it was.so maybe that noise is actually the universal needing grease, if its only when accelerating and the same pinging noise, just a thought
idk why, but my dogs always did the same thing when they'd sneak over to our neighbor's pasture. What is it about cow manure that draws em in? Also, the 518 is a good trans, have one in my pickup, and it's a common restomod alternative to the 727. You'll just have to figure out a setup for the overdrive. It's not quite computer controlled, but it is engage by passing a charge to the OD solenoid in the trans, so you'll either need to manually switch it on/off all the time or figure out a system to trigger it under the right speed and engine load. Here's a couple routes you could go with that: -Aftermarket computer unit to control OD solenoid www.hgmelectronics.com/compushift-mini-for-chrysler-a518-46rh-and-a618-47rh/ -DIY setup using vacuum and oil pressure switches www.transdepot.net/A518-Lock-Up-Wiring-Instructions-46RH-Only_c_279.html
how did you learn how to rebuild these old cars? its my dream to collect and rebuild scrapped rusty old muscle cars, but i font know where to begin? please help!
i bet they put the wrong shims in it. get some dye cream and check the wear pattern as mis mesh is the main reason rear ends make noise. It is actually really hard to set up a rear end properly but i wish you luck yo
That's a shame about the 3.91 diff, if it has been set up wrong and you clearly only ran it a little then taking it to a shop you know you can trust might mean it can be redone and be OK. Or, it could turn out to be junk due to the replacement parts that were installed being sub-standard (sometimes aftermarket parts don't take the hardening process properly.) Hopefully it will be the former...
Nice bunch of parts there, man this thing is gonna run good! And heck yeah, 3.91 gear in a V8 Dart is gonna be a blast! LoL [Edit] Ouch man, sorry about the gear. P.S. RIP Ed King
the problem with a 518 overdrive, is the od unit hits the torsion bar crossmember, and it has to be raised....that is scary. EDIT: I think it fits in b, c, and e bodies. I know for a fact it doesn't fit a bodies.
Wow I just found you. But the fact you use The Sword as your into music, I’m subbing. Not to mention the W100 and all the other cool rare shit on this moose channel. I dig it
Dylan McCool, I recommend that before you put regular old ordinary coolant in that engine system. That you consider Evan's High Performance Waterless Coolant. The last coolant you will ever need to buy. Endorsed by Jay Leno. Total Protection Against Coolant System Failure. Check them out on line at www.evanscoolants.com Your cars are special, they need and deserve total protection against rust, corrosion, and seal failures caused by water based coolants.
I like your unboxing videos. It's nice that you take the time to show the viewers what parts you are using in the build. Thank you.
I like the unboxing videos, love seeing new parts and what not👍🏽 I don’t see how anyone would find this boring or annoying. Its almost like Christmas
I agree with ya bud.
I personally don’t care for unboxing videos, but I would never be so arrogant as to complain to the video maker that they should change cuz I don’t like it. I simply fast forward through it. Problem solved. Everybody wins.
That is why I like your videos you show everthing you are doing and how you do it with new parts.
I really like how Dylan explains what is going on with his builds.
I like the opening of boxes of parts. Feels like Christmas morning.

I love the unboxing videos!
and I still rallying for the 57-61 mopar build!
and you can always swap out a modern 383 into it
I've got a 2500 hughes in my car, footbrakes to 1900-2000, flashes to 2600. Drive like the 1300 it replaces around town. Love it.
Hey Man
I just got my 68 Charger with my 383 in it. You inspire me so much. Thank you for your vids.
i am looking into getting that same serpentine kit for my 440 dakota build. i have just subbed. i look forward to this build and please include more details on this belt belt drive. i want to support a local company they are in the same city i work in. keep it up.
Those pulleys will really add to the look of the engine. I agree, I like to see the parts going on a build. Sorry to hear about the Dart.
Balanced driveshaft ? undo the rear U-joint and re-mount it 180degrees to what it is now. (edit - see if it drives better)

I cannot lie out of 10 of my fav car channels your intro is just badass
Great job! Keep up the good work. Don't let bad parts discourage you.
Ah yess! Thanks for the feature of my car Dylan! Made my day
I recommend using an old school gear-reduction starter with the 440. i always loved the sound of them as they cranked a Mopar engine in to life.
Learn something new every day - I had no idea that there was such a thing as starter-gear-teeth on a torque-converter. Figured those were always on the flexplate. Interesting...

And yet, folks run 4.10's daily without issue at highway speed. Is your Challenger just that much of a turd or....?
Listen ass hat, i was just explaining an instance I had. I had just bought it. You are a typical troll, get a life.
I would think you messed up the setting on the Crush Sleeve when you pulled the nut for the Companion Flange and reinstalled it. On all my cars I use a Solid Sleeve. Takes a little longer to set up but you can remove the nut with out messing up the Backlash
Rear gears are frustrating! I'm currently looking for a A518 for my Cordoba. She's a screamer at 70 mph!
That's the worst, my dog does the same thing. She will roll around in something funky usually after a bath. Can't wait to see this charger up and running!
Water pump installations are a snap on Chrylser big block engines, so are oil pumps.
You're great, man! Keep doing this! I love classic mopars but currently I am putting a new used 6.5 diesel in my 97 crew cab. Crank broke while idling in the driveway. Lol
I didn't think I liked the block being blue but it looks great with the rest of the accessories on it.

Great video, my friend. Every project has it's set-backs. Keep it up!
I enjoy unboxing , fun to see new parts, keep up the good work !
what kind of shape are the bearings on the end of the axle shafts in do they have a bunch if miles on them
Looks great so far, done properly and I love the detail, shame about the rear end, hope you get it fixed 👍
Where would I find this serpentine kit for my 75' 360 engine.? It looks like a great retrofit! 👍🏼🤙🏼🤯
hey dylan i had the same problem it’s your axle bearings !
why didn't you paint the engine bay before you started all the work, just curious, thanks for all the great videos .
Where’d you find those 3:55s?? I’ve got a 70’ 440 Plymouth cuda with a 2:73 rear end and I can’t find any other rear ends whatsoever..
The 3.91s I bought at a Mopar swap meet.
Powerwash the dog!!
That Charger's gonna be a beast when it's done.
idk why, but my dogs always did the same thing when they'd sneak over to our neighbor's pasture. What is it about cow manure that draws em in?

Just noticed the tag on the dart. What county you in in Tennessee!?
how did you learn how to rebuild these old cars? its my dream to collect and rebuild scrapped rusty old muscle cars, but i font know where to begin? please help!
It’s getting real! Great stuff Dylan!
Do you have an idea of what the hp/tq numbers are supposed to be with the 440 yet Dylan?
I can't say for certain at the moment.
i bet they put the wrong shims in it. get some dye cream and check the wear pattern as mis mesh is the main reason rear ends make noise. It is actually really hard to set up a rear end properly but i wish you luck yo
I love Repo. Best TH-cam duo I’ve seen yet
Dylan loving all of the video uploads,
Keep posting them, watching them at home from Co. Dublin in Ireland🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍
Whey are u not putting back the sender transmission?
That's a shame about the 3.91 diff, if it has been set up wrong and you clearly only ran it a little then taking it to a shop you know you can trust might mean it can be redone and be OK. Niccce just today got a 1962 Chrysler 300 project car gunna be fun . Great video !
I have a feeling the 391s found a new home! Lol well maybe i commented to early in the video, lol Anyways 391 ratio will wake up the dart!
Nice bunch of parts there, man this thing is gonna run good! And heck yeah, 3.91 gear in a V8 Dart is gonna be a blast! LoL [Edit] Ouch man, sorry about the gear.
P.S. RIP Ed King
How much did you spend on all those parts?
Like the dart the best, had a 71 had a 318 wasn't fast but looked good.
the problem with a 518 overdrive, is the od unit hits the torsion bar crossmember, and it has to be raised....that is scary. EDIT: I think it fits in b, c, and e bodies. I know for a fact it doesn't fit a bodies.
How much did the 727 rebuild cost you?
I haven't been sent the bill yet.
You should post a video of the Dart having trouble, someone out here in TH-cam land might be able to spot the problem for you. Another good vid!
Wow I just found you. But the fact you use The Sword as your into music, I’m subbing. Not to mention the W100 and all the other cool rare shit on this moose channel. I dig it
what a beautiful car, a lot of respect from Germany
And General lee ?
Good vidéo
Great video getting my 69 charger out this weekend great content
id clear coat right over top of the way the car looks now. would be classic
A 4 speed auto is good with my 3.92 gear in my dak r/t
I just bought a 1973 Gold Duster, that’s all, just thought I’d mention it
My dog hates baths too
im so jealous....all ive ever wanted to do is restore an old charger or any old Mopar for that matter.
Do a good job on a 1970 dart, and trade up. It might take a few cars or maybe not. Never know what can await someone who's searching
I once had a Charger, but no Money. Finally,my money situation is better, settlement check here cannot find anything to buy??
@10:15 - Iron Man's arc reactor!
how many mirrors you want
You're definitely going to have fun but your rpm is going to be up there.
Black and blue all over
Repo is good motivational support.
Hey Dylan, can you hook me up with the contact information for the serpentine setup?
sdconcepts.com or you can email Jerry at jerry@sdconcepts.com
Bom trabalho pra vocês, garotos!
I like that serpentine setup
Thanks! I think it'll work well.
Dylan McCool how much is it
Yes
I dont mind the unboxing portion of the videos.
Nice car brother, hello in Moscow 🤘☺️
классный чарджер, жду новых видео с ним)
Awesome car Charger
Keep it up soon that thing will be doing burnouts and racing
You can save the charger
I love ur blue dart ¡
Please before you put it in the car upgrade to the carter fuel pump because the stock one will not keep up...
Ponha legenda para o Português (Brasil) e coloca um turbo compressor !!!! Nesse dodge!
I NEED YOUR CHARGER!
I bought a sticker, going on my toolbox.
Dylan McCool, I recommend that before you put regular old ordinary coolant in that engine system. That you consider Evan's High Performance Waterless Coolant. The last coolant you will ever need to buy. Endorsed by Jay Leno. Total Protection Against Coolant System Failure.

👍
Unboxing is coll with me.
If you want all of your rear end problems to be a thing of the past. Buy a Ford 9" and you will never have to worry about your rear end again.
I agree with you I don’t like those either
this is very osom..
Круто !
That pretty weak for 5 bulks. Lol
