Isn't it amazing how many parts are on a car and how much room they take up once you start taking them apart. New engine looks great Dylan.
And the wires. Wires everywhere.
And all the money it will cost
I am amazed how that grubby engine sitting out in a field has turned out so beautiful. The valves, larger than normal, gosh the clearance between them is tight .. they look almost like they overlap. I assume that is normal and not an issue. RV engines (and traditional vans); the under dash engines get so awful to look at very quickly. What a nice resurrection for that engine. Also I was thinking you are close to done, but sort of daunting when look at the inside and all those wires and tattered parts and then the suspension, exhaust .. definitely a ways to go. BTW I really enjoy the opening and presentation of the new parts!
Sweet! Not only adding more power but a nice change to the power to weight ratio! Looks nice!
I love your detailed descriptions/explanations on the stuff you do, especially engine explanations!
Those Mopar valve covers are actually pretty cool on there,I myself have been looking for them where the raised lines and writing is in turquoise to match the engine block color
Great memories faded Charger a 440 a tractor dad with STP hat and Clay Smith Cam shirt. U guys could be in 1970's U gave u tubers a pice of American history.
i love how all the aluminum on the turquoise block makes that thing look savage!
the "grasshopper" was a katydid
mtnbikr66 katydid yes. You took home some extras from Oklahoma! Circadian; aka, katydid is a carnivore that feeds on spiders and bugs. So you might want to keep it around to devour the other creatures that came with the car! 😂
I love those Katydids
He was chill. I hope he comes back.
Dylan McCool yeah if you come up to them slow they will sit there and if they trust you they will crawl onto your hand if you put it out there
Katydids (leaf bugs) are so cool.
50 yrs into Mopars here and still going , you have a great attitude, gonna go far Dylan
Killer heads there! Love those valve covers too.
Never use a plastic oil pressure line they are known to blow out. Always use a copper oil pressure line.
That engine you are building is going to be SWEET!! Can't wait to hear it fire for the first time!!
The engine looks awesome!! Now I can't wait to hear it run.. Peace!
I think the grasshopper was a sign on what to name the Charger. 🦗. Sorry no green emoji.
Someone else ID'd him as a katydid.
I would be in favor of painting the heads and intake to match..... Keeps that stock feel, but still make you smile!
Just ordered a sticker. I love the charger in general and you are the best for showing us the whole progress, every little detail! I just love it so much. Thanks for letting us go with you on this journey and good luck ! Always looking forward to the next video!
Glad I found this as I am preparing to build my ultimate MOPAR.. Absolutely beautiful paint on one sweet motor. Kudos!
Do you test your valves for leaks before you set the heads on the block ?
have you considered paint the valve covers same color off the block?
After the carb and air cleaner are on are you gonna have enough clearance with the hood?
I know the video is old, but I wanted to offer a tip for anyone installing engines this way. Put a car skate with a pile of shop towels under the car. Use this for the transmission shaft. It will cradle it very well and roll backwards as you lower the engine. Its easier than jacking up the shaft. Just something I do when Im installing Engine trans combos by myself.
What a cool car!! It's great to see that the engine is finally in the car. I hope you plan on installing an original, old-school Chrysler gear-reduction starter on that sharp-looking 440 you just dropped into the Charger because that's what I would do since I love the unique sound of the gear-reduction starter,In addition ,I can't wait to hear the 440 fired up & running for the first time. Since I'm a fan of & grew up watching "The Dukes of Hazzard", this makes me want to go out & buy a 1969 Dodge Charger & turn it into a General Lee. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing this car when it is a finished product.
Its so cool how once you put in that big engine Dylan it makes the car look newer than it is
katydid thats what kind of bug that was and that 440 is AWESOME 906 aluminum heads super bird cool and what stall is your converter and what else have you done to the 440
Clicked for an engine, learnt about a new grasshopper species. Excellent.
Cool :)
Don’t see much more about this charger anymore since the challenger build wonder if he still had it
Nice - good choice on the heads. What does the compression ratio work out to?
That is a leaf grasshopper to mach the leafs around him to hide from pray
Where did you find this charger and what motor was in it
Also for the valve covers. You could paint part turquoise and leave part of it black. Along with the silver lines. Like every other black line turquoise.
Unless you have done something else
Use those valve covers, but strip them down, what is now bare paint turquoise and what is painted now leave bare.
Wonder how much weight we be getting rid of when we go aluminum..
This 440 cid. is miles away from the RV that it came from. Premium fuel is definitely required. This will definitely be a real mean green machine when it's completed. The original paint colour really sets the engine' s colour scheme off quite well.
That green bug is a katydid which is a type of a bush cricket. Brief biology lesson aside, I think this is going to be one sweet beast to be driving around.
Nothing looks quite as good as a fresh engine ! Thanks for Sharing Dylan !
Love the charger build what did u decide to do with the other charger
I still have it.
At 8:34, is that a Magnum or a Cordoba?
I would paint the valley cover the turquoise as well. Other than that it looks awesome!!
I'm from up new england way and never saw a cool leave looking bug like that up here, looks like you have a new big block blessing mascot. yeehaa go big block! ☆☆☆
I think factory valve covers painted same as the block would awesome with those heads also,or some old school m/t's....of course it's yours build it the way you want, just my opinion as a lover of beautiful Mopar big blocks
Lv those valve covers on bro! They are classic and look really nice!😀
What manufacturer makes that accessory bracket setup?
Superior Design Concepts
@@DylanMcCoolVideo thanks for the info! What happened with the other Charger?
Lookin good Dylan, glad you didn't paint the heads. The black valve covers look good too!
Hey young man, just a tip from an old wrench turner. When pouring fluids from the quart bottles turn them so the spout is on topside and the bigger part of the bottle is lower. Less likely to to get an air bubble and spillage. Love your videos.
Never had that problem with the waxed-cardboard oil cans. That was my job as a kid: wipe off the metal tops, use the churchkey to put a vent hole and then stab the can with the spout and hand it to my dad filling the engine.
Dylan, I know how you feel. I've got a ton of new parts and old parts for my '74 Trailduster! Still getting my garage rebuilt, so the 'Duster has been on hold since April. As to the valve covers, I'd keep 'em on there! Once everything is back together, I'm sure you'll agree. By the way, if you were to line up all of your chrysler vehicles, the yard would look like an 80's trade in lot!!! Keep the videos coming, because I'm dying with anticipation to the day you fire that beast up!!!
Thank you!
Y cuando mostras el auto en marcha!!!?????? ☺☺ muy buen trabajo !
Does the open space on the front of the transmission get covered? Seems like an easy place for dirt and grime ?
Yes it does. I have an inspection cover for it that I haven't put on yet.
New engine looks incredible!
What size is your garage?
Does it have a loft?
Looks pretty big and sweet👍
When will you paint this car dylan ? Car needs a good paint .
Dylan how long you been working on the dodge charger r/t
Your knowledge of the ins and outs of the vehicle are amazing. I'm able to do everything but the internals of the motor/tranny. WIsh I paid more attention in mech class LOL
I admire these videos Dylan Mcool made I would put a clear coat just my thought. Great build bub can't wait to see the nexted video.
Nice to see it together finally almost to running huh
We're did you find your charger
Already looking forward to seeing next year's Power Tour video....this will be soooo cool Dylan!
Right now I have a Honda Civic that makes just over 500 wheel horsepower with a turbo 1.8L 4 cylinder that I built, but I am seriously considering getting another old Ramcharger and putting either a 440 and a 4 speed in it, or doing a Cummins swap on it. My 84 came with an LA 360 that only had about 60k miles on it, but I pulled it and swapped a 360 Magnum into it with the 727 and NP205 and I kick myself in the ass all the time for selling it.
Are you keeping it ratty looking on purpose?? The reason I'm asking is why would you install a fresh and clean rebuilt power plant without first prepping and painting the engine bay the proper body color?
Yes.
he did it so he can move the car if needed and later do the paint work.
ZeusLP See his answer above. He said he’s keeping it ratty looking on purpose.
@@DylanMcCoolVideo Hello i'm from Aceh, indonesian. How can i get V8 engine? Thanks
@@DylanMcCoolVideo I'm doing the same thing with a 57 plymouth. The car sat for 48 years behind somebodies house in the mud and I am just getting it mechanically sorted to drive!
nice car and grasshopper , we wanna see more of the grasshopper more i tell ya.. lol :)
Hey, Someone from Russia? It's so cool to see how you put it together, it looks very awesome, thanx bro!!
What happens to the challenger bro weres the finish prodct
How much hp do you have or can get out of a 440 magnum engine? I'm at a crossroads old or Helephant(25k)
Awesome job! Just curious, is there a book or a reference that you use when you're rebuilding Chrysler carburetors? I'm going to rebuild my ThermoQuad, and I want to make sure I'm doing it right.
I'm sure there is something out there. Check out TH-cam I'm sure you could find something.
Looks like a model engine. She’s perfect but I think you should have painted the trans to match. Beautiful color
did you skip engine assembly?
The engine looks really really nice😀🚗!!!
Will REAL body work ever get done to this car? For godsake give this damn living legend of a car a makeover
First love the charger series
Awesome! Now I know a bit more about V8 engines! :D
Two thumbs up on the top end assembly. I may have missed the video on it, but are you going to go through the Charger's rear axle, or just replace it? Because if you don't, your trademark burnout might also feature a detonation. Strong 440 + weak rearend =parts everywhere.
I'm working front to back on the car. Yes I'll be rebuilding it eventually including the rear suspension as well.
Just had to check - you know there's any number of rebuilders, hot rodders, or even resto guys that miss that 1 little thing. And all their hard work ends up in the scrapyard. But I am reassured now - thanks!
11:35 I love the badass look of the valve cover's.
Is that a 440? You said you're putting the original 383 in right?
Looks great but you forgot most important part, short block. Rings bearings 30 over pistons. 2-3 weeks of pounding on it ur gonna have that tractor yankin it back out.
New subscriber...LOVE the channel! I like how you keep things simple and don't overdo your projects. $100k trailer Queens are nice...but give me something with character and battle scars that you aren't afraid to drive. Keep up the good job!!!
Thank you!
That was a stealthy bug snuck in there disguised as a leaf just to check out those stealth heads
that engine does look nice Dylan 👌
paint valve covers same color maybe?
That engine looks really good the way it is. Love the rocker coves ive got similar style on my Holden
Damn that engine is smokin hot, she'll definitely smoke those tires. Your a patient young man, kudos to you ! Nova Scotia Canada
Look it's Vic Edelbrock reincarnated checking out your work
It's very inspiring. It makes me want to get back into buying, trading, and selling cars again. I didn't do it for the money but for the experience and adventure of building a car. Great video man. Keep it up 👍✌
Im trying to learn how to build an engine on TH-cam...going to make a general lee.
Hope I find somthing useful lol your channel has helped alot
Why didn't you pant the inside of were the motor go's?
Why is the block blue? In dodes the engine block was orange
Not all of them
The motor has been blessed by the mighty grass hopper, now as a new upgrade the charger will be able to launch itself to great distances to escape persuers just like the grass hopper can.
Have you ever pulled an engine by separating the subframe from the body you can literally wire up the whole body install rad brake lines set up the rebuilt motor trans with starter and headers carb valve covers dist water pump. Then bolt up everything at once it's how it's done from the factory that's if your T bars come out nice so once everything is in its super easy to wire up everything this way and very little time bending over the car.
I could, but it requires lifting the car high up in the air, and without a lift it's not the easiest thing to do.
Why u dont paint the engine bay?
That green thing is a 1/4 horse more. Lol. Love it man very nice
I see you've got the GL up for sale, would love to get it but I currently have college to focus on, either way Charger looks amazing Good luck on the sale 👍👍
Looking good, excited to hear the 440 run, keep up the great work !
Nice video but you need a manual trani
Good to have you back.
Love the color and like the valve covers on it as well!
bro you should completely rework on the body first
Core support is bent from being a butcher! Put engine in then trans from underneath. Oh yeah check spring height with new retainers, requires a special micrometer.
Where’d you order the heads from?
Tate Cunningham www.440source.com
Is the grass hopper OK? When I was putting the new engine in my Ford truck, I had a praying mantis come and supervise while I was working. He stayed under the hood all day.
I was careful not to hurt him.
He was cool.
That '69 Charger is gonna be awesome when it's done.
You take the seats out and go send them to get redone and the door panels if needed
You got that thing lookin sharp man! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to do what your doin and afford it.
I’ve always wanted to find an old car or truck to restore with my dad. My dad told me he preferred a truck, but anyways, looks great.
These Dodge videos make me miss my old 84 Ramcharger and my 74 Dart that was given to me with 16,000 original miles on it.
