This was a really cool moveset. Neutral B and Side B were simple moves, but I like how you gave them an extra oomph to make them fit the character better, with the Neutral B shooting a bugged spindash sprite when charged and the Side B combining two moves from World Heroes 2. The Down B was definitely my favourite, while the direct inspiration was a rather obscure bug, the representation of the sloppy performance of bootleg games fits perfectly, specially for a character like Sonic that is supposed to be fast

I can say this moveset showed a lot of improvement towards your animation and editing, hoping to see more of Lawl Beyond in the future

Honestly this set was wonderful. It's crazy to see how much you've improved in just 3 years. Compare this to Captain S and you'll see what I mean.
As for the set itself, Sonik being a Rushdown character is a very good idea, and I like how their speed is both an advantage and disadvantage and the Down Special works well to balance it out. The Fireballs also were pretty clever idea and at first I thought it was reference to World Heroes but no. I also like how inspiration offers more than clips, and you did great with general representation stuff like Down B additionally representing slowness of the bootlegs and Fire Ball being a reference to Mario. My only complaint is that the Final Smash does too a bit too much damage.
I really like how many of the new stages look and that combo during the playstyle segment was a thing of beauty. Also, I am glad you referenced the bizarre Marios in cages for his last victory option. You love to see it.
Overall, Sonik is arguably the best set Beyond has had thus far, and it's certainly a high bar to break.

I was wondering when Beyond would come back, and wouldn't you know I was notified about it from the creator of Lawl Bash's playlist, which I accidentally saved in my library. Regardless, welcome back, and here's hoping this month will continue to have awesome high quality movesets after the successful month of May this year.
So while I don't have much to say about Sonik himself, its still a very good moveset that represents the weirdness and laggyness of these particular games (with even the latter being used for his Down B), with the Jetpack probably being my favourite, as it helps make him distinctive from his regular and hacked counterparts.
I'm definitely excited to see secondary stuff in addition to movesets. The echoes of course being my favourite as I can only imagine a few that could have them. My guesses are: Fortran (Grand Dad), NES (Captain S), and Luigi (Zanzibar Mario). Glad your doing well, and have a good night.

Pretty good moveset, and that coming from a poll winner definitely adds on the streak of Good Slot Winners

i didn't like this. so the playstyle origin is telling me that he is simple because bootlegs are simple. bootleg games are not simple. they are insanely janky and complicated. my first idea for a playstyle was "sonic but he's slower and weirder", which isn't the best but i think it's a better start.
i'm not sure if the moveset ended up boring because of this commitment to simplicity or not, but either way, a moveset can be simple without being boring. he has like, shoto fireballs as a neutral b. it's a generic projectile with nothing unique because bootleg games are simple. and also because sonic bootlegs are reskins of mario. even though the fireballs do not replicate the ones in mario. the side b is a generic dash move with one added property, and being able to stun isn't interesting as a property. the up b is also unoriginal, but i'm easier to excuse that because most recoveries are kinda the same.
the down b seems to mess with the flow of his moveset. rushdown characters usually do not have traps like this. but i think it's a neat idea, slowing down both the opponent and player to manage uncontrollable speed. i'm not sure how useful it would be, but this is more the interesting ideas that lawl is made for. it's not even that complicated.
personally, "bootleg sonic" is a bit of a flawed idea, but one that could work. it's a character with near endless material, which is both the idea's greatest strength and weakness. this moveset feels like it's adapting the things in sonic bootlegs that are easiest to adapt into a move, instead of taking the most interesting and infamous moments from them.
one last thing, do you know what "cancelling" is? competitive smash terminology confuses me sometimes as well so i get the apparent misunderstanding, but no character in smash bros has a move that can both cancel into and be cancelled out of every other move they have. that would be insane.

Thanks for giving this critisim, and if i choose to cover Sonik in the patch, I may keep some things here in mind, though there are some things I'd like to clairify
      - I wasn't trying to imply bootlegs were simple with the playstyle. my idea was to make something that would work well with the rushdown playstyle, hence the simpler set type.
      - When it comes to the Neutral B's fireball not repliacting Mario's, do you mean that in terms of physics or design? cause for the design, I was just using what was on the World Hero 2 sprite sheet to keep things consitant, and as for physics of it, well..even Mario Bootlegs (including these "reskins" mentioned) don't get that right. (btw, there ARE more inspirations to the move like Sonik 2 where it is as simple of a projectile as seen here, but I didn't wanna drag it out. the Mario part was just for the fireball aspect).
      - Funny you say that, becuase my intent was similar to the later you brought up. I wasn't making what would adapt into moves as much as i was trying to use aspect that were commonly seen, or most well known throughout these bootlegs like Sonic shooting a projectile for some reason, the bugginess and lag seen throughout, or side B referencing what's most known about Sonic in World Heroes 2 with the electricity aspect.
      - Yeeeah, for the up B cancel thing, I didn't know a better way to describe it lol, but it could've been worded better. ^^"
again, thanks for the comment ^w^

i really liked this movset!, i like to play bootleg games sometimes, most of the moves are good, i just feel that Up B is WAY to fast and final smash doesnt have a inspiration clip, cant wait to see more!
