    I did the same aged 4 in 1957....I went 3 floors downstairs and then returned home saying: "it's teatime I'll leave later". I'm 70 year old and I still giggle over it. Much love from Italy.

    My brother once packed up and left - about an hour later I asked mum if we could go find him - we found him at the end of the block sitting on a retainer wall - we asked him how come he didn't go any further - his reply -- I'm not allowed to cross the street alone 😅

    My little brother was five and he packed his bag and stated he was running away. Mom was so sweet and told him he would be missed but to let her pack him a good lunch. She gave him his little lunch with PB &J, some chips and an apple. Packed his thermos and told him to be sure and drop us a postcard and reassured him that he was loved then shut the front door. We peeped out the window and he sat at the end of our driveway in that hot Alabama summer air. After about thirty minutes he came inside all wet with sweat and mad. Mom hugged him and stated how much he was missed. She told me not to laugh in front of him so I went in my room and cried laughing tears.

      @@tookiie it seems you need to work on your English comprehension skills. If you reread what I wrote you will seeing that I'm saying, this is only teaching the child to be more risky which is stupid. You don't let a child even pretend to run away. You explain it to the child until the child understands. That's the very reason of parenting. What was done in the video is bad parenting as it trains the kid to be independent when the kid is clearly not ready to do so. I'm not happy nor sad, I care a less if some parent wants to kill off there kid, if they dumb enough to let a toddler walk the street a alone that's on them. I'm job is my children, not other kids. I'm just commenting that its a bad idea. What they do with that info is up to them. You can't fix stupid..just too much of it in this world..

    • @weaviejeebies
      @weaviejeebies ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Kc-dq7zj I was actually pretty worried about it until the very end. I watched it a few times. Stuff like this grabs my interest because I was an abused child and was always careful to not confuse my own kids by laughing at their misbehavior. She actually looks like she's realized everything's okay and not as serious as she thought, but also that threatening to run away because you don't get what you want is a mistake. It's a really hard situation to teach just right, and of course we only know these people from this clip. At the end, she seems fine and ready to move on to the next 5 yr old shenanigans, which is the most important thing. I wouldn't have uploaded it, but that's more because there's so much risk publishing kids online.

      @@hdajq892ey7 yup, I feel like, without knowing a backstory, she wanted her mom to come after her to actually show she cared. Which is very normal for kids to do. Instead she had to walk her way back alone with her mom waiting by the door cackling with her phone in her hand. Now she knows her mom is not going to come for her, which hurt her trust in her. I feel so so bad for this girl. And I hate people saying this is how you „teach a lesson“… a lesson in how little your parents care about you, yes.

    My oldest did some thing similar. He said he didn’t love or need me any more, and he was leaving. I said ok, bye. He went to his room and gathered a few things in his back pack and went to the front door. He said he was ready to go. I said go where? He replied Grandmas. I asked him how he was going to get there. He said I was going to drive him. I said, “I thought you didn’t need me any more.” He burst into tears and said I do need you, and I love you daddy. He never tried any BS like that again. My mom told me a story, when she was a little kid one of her brothers was spanked by his parents and as a protest he fled the house in his pajamas. They lived in the countryside, and it was snowing outside. The grandma insisted that the mother goes after him to find him, but the mother was convinced that he'll come back soon. But as the time went by he didn't come back and grandma went to look for him. He hid somewhere and she barely found him! He was half frozen and almost dead. The grandma brought him back to the house, tried to heat him up and managed to save his life.

      My oldest brother use to wake his younger brother when the sun was coming up. He'd say hey Dean wake up you're gonna be late for school.Dean would get up every time & get all dressed & ready. Mom would ask why are you up so early, he told mom he was ready for school & mom told him to go back to bed it's much too early. Dick was always pulling crap on Dean, so Dean left a note & ran away. Dean wrote mom I love you & dad and my sisters but Dick treats me like a dog. So I am running away to the park.

YES, it does matter, and YES it does stay with a kid. If this happened once, it's probably an ongoing behaviour with the parent that will likely result in low self-worth for the kid. Even siblings should be taught not to tease and belittle others. You can teach a kid to have a sense of humour about themselves without making them feel insignificant.

    My daughter did this when she was six. It was dark outside so my husband went and hid behind some cars to keep a watchful eye on her as she set out on her trek to God knows where.
    I watched her from our window(s) and kept seeing her take few steps, stop, and listen for something. She suddenly ran back home in a panic.
    I ended up finding out that my husband was making howling noises from behind one of the cars parked on the street (something we had not discussed prior lol). When she came in I gave her a big ol hug and asked what happened and she said she "needed a ride afterall" 😂😂😂

She would help him pack, telling him he would need clothes and food and asking if he had any money saved. She would put his stuffed animals and toys into his suitcase too and say “I know how much you love these, I want you to have them while you’re gone.” It always ended with him in tears and saying he didn’t want to run away-I think it reminded him both that he needed his mom and that she loved him
