There is no way I could tell you how many times I have hunted with Beagles. I knew each dog by their voice. I am in my eighties now and hunting is just a pipe dream but I made a lot of memories that I recall and I am back in the brush with my dogs.
Excellent Video! I grew up Rabbit hunting and we always had several beagles that hunted all the way up to 15 - 17 years old. As a kid my job was to feed and water them, clean the pin and assure they were OK (even all through the harsh winters). My Dad and older Brothers have passed but I still have all the shot guns my 20 gauge that I carried at 7 - 8 years old, Browning Autos and several others. The respect that I have for the Beagles is 10000%. I no longer hunt but we have had several Beagles for house pets and such an amazing Dogs. I will never forget hunting with Dad and they got on a deer trail and would not come in but we had to go to Thanksgiving dinner so Dad laid his hunting coat next to the Truck and we left. I was so upset But we came back after Dinner and the dogs were laying on Dads coat waiting for us :). I was about 9 and so Happy to see my Beagles. Be safe out there and Thx for sharing.
Wow ! let me first say "you are wise beyond your years ". I totally agree with every point you made. I had my dog during the 80s and could not even guess how many hundreds of rabbits we took with her and my jeep filled with younger cousins. last saturday of the season in ohio i got a rabbit that the dogs made a big circle on. while cleaning it i had a guy come over from property next to us and say " i didnt think anyone hunted rabbits with beagles any more " my response was theres not many of us. Cherish the property you have, because to me that is why this type of hunting has declined.KEEP UP THE TRADITION !
I love this video. I have a 1.5 year old beagle who has finally started hunting. Took a while but she learned and loves being in the woods and running hard on a rabbit. Season opens in 2 weeks, we are both anxiously waiting!!
I've got a Beagle cross Jack Russell and she brings out more wildlife than any other dog very energetic and agile and very focused on tracking brilliant dog
Always had a a pair but now just one and enjoyable as heck. i been doing this for 56 years and will never be without a good rabbit hound. I like your way of thinking. You got it right. Keep up the good work.
The way you explain rabbit hunting and the way beagles are is perfect! I'm getting ready to spend a weekend with people that aren't familiar with rabbit hunting. I sent this video to all of them! Thank you for this!
Put down my first rabbit dog that I trained from a pup almost a year ago. She gave me some memories that will stay with me forever and I never could’ve asked for a better dog.
I grew up having two beagles, tater and biscuit, lol my grandfather that passed away before I was born was a big rabbit hunter. I had no idea how to train a dog but loved to hear tater and biscuit run rabbits
I love that the rabbit dogs are getting some play. Well done video. He is right, not everyone has access to birds but almost everyone has access to rabbits. You don’t have to have a huge pack to be successful. I have one she hunts close we kill plenty of rabbits and I flush woodcock every year so there’s some versatility there too. I’d like to see if cockers or any flushers can be effective hunting rabbits here in the states that would be a unique video.
Well done as always. I grew up hunting in Northern Minnesota near the iron range for mainly deer and grouse. In recent years we got a Small Munsterlander and him and I go all over now looking for Roosters and in Canada for Grouse. This has inspired me to go back to Hibbing, this time with my pal Otis and find some birds!
I love rabbit hunting with dogs for 2 reasons 1 the dogs bark is music to your ears. 2 beacause rabbit hunting comes with many different sets of chalenges.
I had never rabbit hunted a day in my life until I was about 15. A family friend of mine who’s much older then I started taking me hunting and I fell in love. That’s been 20+ years ago and I’m still hunting rabbits with beagles! I’ve never seen a perfect hound and I’ve hunted many many hounds for both coons and rabbits. I always heard that if you kept a hound in the house that it wouldn’t hunt but I can say with confidence that this is false. I have a female that sleeps in the bed with me and runs rabbits ever chance she gets!! Love this video and your story!
I have a dachshund/elkhound mix (thought he was dachs/beag) and beagle. Not really a hunter myself, but they are. They've taken down a handful of rabbits on their own. Squirrels, mice, and moles occasionally. The dachshund has cornered/captured grouse, wild turkeys, birds, skunks (and not been sprayed!), racoon and opossum babies. But they're also friendly with the local foxes and deer to an extent....not friends, but not fearful or aggressive at each other. Want to get them trained up instead of just hunting on instinct as a team. I've had to learn how to process a kill and cook it for them.
Im watching this next to my beagle. Everyday we go out for a walk behind my house where there’s loads of rabbits but he’s afraid of them. I think he’s broken or something 😂
Loved every bit except the NRA ad it started with (I know you probably don't have any control over that ad placement)! Long gone are the days when the NRA did anything helpful for hunters, and they just make us look bad these days- few people have faces as punchable as Jordan and Cruz anyone, so I'm lost how this ad was meant to entice anyone to be seen with the likes of them...
@@tennesseedogpack That statement would make sense if our gun rights were at all, in any fathomable way, under threat. They aren't and haven't been at any point in my lifetime- instead, the NRA and allies have lied to gin up outrage on the part of you and others and take your money. If you want to stay gullible, that's fine, but I won't waste my time and money on that.

Never did any hunting before but I have a lovely 13 year old beagle still going strong. Beagles are truly amazing dogs.
"their favorite thing to do, is your favorite thing to do". I love that! I have a bird dog and he is my little prince!
He nailed it. I grew up rabbit hunting over beagles. I cherish those memories.
Ditto !
Thank you for bringing back my finest memories from 60 years ago when times were simple and fun.
Ive had beagles since my dad got me one when i was 12(1973)yrs old. Im still running rabbits and love it! Great vid!!!

My young beagle loves chasing/flushing grouse. It's a bonus when we are rabbit hunting
Same passion, same quarry, different breed of dog. Nice video 😊

This is freaking beautiful
Love the editing in this!! Especially in a style of hunting that isn’t really popular. I really appreciate y’all!!
Great video! Thanks for creating awesome content.
Great video. Glad beagles getting their fair cut. Nothing better than running my beagles on a swamp rabbit.
Great video and interview. Amazing sentiment.

Great video, there is nothing like Rabbit hunting with some good dogs....

Do you eat the rabbits?
Dogs more useful than some people
what line is the tri-color beagle (mine has the exact same coloring )? i don’t know mine because i have no papers
If it is breed in them it will come it don't matter if u keep them in the house
Im watching this next to my beagle.
Everyday we go out for a walk behind my house where there’s loads of rabbits but he’s afraid of them.
I think he’s broken or something 😂
That’s funny haha
But why do you want to kill all of those rabbits? What for?

You’re the problem. I’m only interested in protecting my gun type.

@@pn0606 No thanks. You see, in contrast to you, I actually have something useful to say.

They need eye protection
How can someone kill animals for fun?
