I like the style. I wish they would have done better on the cello design. Its like they had a contest with Draco/Zeta on who could design the ugliest cello. Great videos, Matt. As a cellist I still appreciate them.
Nice job Matt on the opening ! What amp did you play that violin through ? Also, have you ever tried the Fender acoustic amps, like the acoustic 100 or 200 ?
Andy, Matt's out for the week, and won't be back in until Monday, but he played the Auro through the Fishman Loudbox Artist for the livestream. We have tried the Fender amps in the past, but that was when most of the line was Acoustasonic. We thought they were okay, but not awesome -- they were brighter than we preferred, and sometimes distorted when you played double stops. Since we stopped carrying their violins several years before they discontinued them, we're no longer a Fender dealer, so we haven't tried the Acoustic 100 or Acoustic 200.
You can, but results may vary. Electric guitar amps typically don't have high impedance inputs and are voiced to sound bright, which can compound the brightness of a violin to produce unpleasing tone. You may need a preamp or DI before the guitar amp. Otherwise, we recommend acoustic instrument amplifiers, such as Fishman Loudbox amps.
