I never comment on social media...ever...but I am so grateful to find out about you and I think everyone needs to know :) Especially, my father, whose last known guitar song was "There was an Old Lady that Swallowed a Fly", lol. Aside from that exposure, I came from a background of piano and the guitar was always something I wanted to begin, but just couldn't seem to shift my thinking over from keys to strings. I have tried several times over the years and almost gave up, but since watching your first lesson, I am strumming chords and making music with an ease, confidence, happiness I've never felt before. Marty thank you! I'm in a rough spot in my life and my neighbor randomly gave me a cheapo acoustic guitar. I've never had an ounce of musical ability my whole life...but I'm having such a good time following along with your lessons and actually by god making music. Not great! But better today than yesterday!

Dude, You are the best!! And there's a lot out there. I'm an old guy who got discouraged at about 5 years old at a group lesson my 1st group lesson where the other kids were already playing. It was humiliating and I never returned. Now at 62, your attitude and method of teaching has me thrilled about playing. I play along with you for an hour at a time, until fingers are getting sore. Thanks a million!!

After a week of learning from your Beginner Acoustic TH-cam series, I purchased the Marty Music course as a way to say thank you! My fingers aren't hurting as much as the first few days and I'm forgiving myself if it doesn't sound right just yet. Thanks for the reassurance that just keep playing and it'll sound better.

Now that I am 50 my love for guitar and getting back to it has been sparked again thanks to your beginner video lessons. I can’t believe how much I learned in these first three lessons and how your techniques and insights are helping me get back to playing right away. 👏

I'm recently retired ,brand new to this and moving ahead slowly, by lesson 3 I felt like I was getting worse. I then saw a video on finger stretches. I didn't play for two days but did the stretches 3x a day, it helped a lot. Maybe this will help other beginners. I'm liking your lessons, thanks.

Your lesson series is superb Marty - thank you. I've tried learning various different things off TH-cam but the lesson series I've tried to follow have invariably been useless. The pace is just right for me, and the reassurance that everything will sound rubbish to begin with is very welcome indeed. Actually my G sounded all right straight off, and, listening to your comments, I found myself feeling pleased with myself that it wasn't too plunky!
I must say I can't get the A chord to sound nice though. I'm finding a 2-1-3 fingering working best at the moment, but I'm still struggling to get my fingers reliably near enough to the fret without touching each others' strings. Bah!

know this is really late but im in the same situation as you! (or should i say the situation you WERE in). can get the g chord relatively easy but the a major my fingers keep touching off other strings. I'm sure with practice I'll get better though :)

day two of learning, and my strings sound awful. though the guitar has been sitting around for 6 years and needs to get its fair share of strings. it was grandfather’s but he hasn’t used it in 6 years, and i found a sudden passion for music after seeing everyone with instruments, it gave me inspiration. the guitar is still fairly dusty. my aunt and mother tried learning, but stopped because it hurt too much. i want to be the one who learns, and succeeds. thank your for your wonderful tutorials! they help a lot! i wish you well!
