- In this After Effects tutorial, I cover all the basics of animation you need to get started. I will be explaining the user interface, the most common effects, and how to make a simple animation. By the end of the video, you will familiarise yourself with the basic purpose and functions of this software.

Agreed, this is by far the best one I've seen! Easy to understand, it doesn't go 100mph and it doesn't promise things that you can't do in 10 minutes lol

This is the best crash course. I already know a lot of the stuff in the video coming from other programs but still needed a 'tour' of AE to know where everything is and this was perfect in a clear, short, way that I haven't found elsewhere

I appreciate this video so much. I recently started to polish up some old hobbies of mines like editing even it comes to photography and videography. So hearing all about adobe and learning all the platforms was intimating. But even how you just explain the button functions, and even process made me realize I’m not as clueless as I thought. 🎉❤

This was REALLY well made for somebody jumping in as a beginner. I am moving from Motion to AE so this was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Because of my deadlines, I'd rather use Motion because it's so much faster....but my company wants to ditch all the Macs! (Stupid decision) ... So into After Effects I go, which is like going backwards! This tutorial helps, but sheesh, the rendering time is 3-5 times longer in AE than it is in Motion for the same basic stuff, and in Motion I see most things in real time. Sigh.

This isn't everything...far from it. Wait till you get to the part where you have to select a section and hit ALT to bring up a set of pointlessly hidden tools to link one part of your composition to another, or perform motion tracking on a really argumentative clip, etc.

Perfect video man. With quite a bit of experience in Fusion and Resolve, I wanted to get quickly started with After Effects. Your video contains all the infromation I wanted, presented at the right pace, with the right amount of detail. Props.
edit: I especially like that you showed both the keyboard shortcuts, and where to access the same feature in the menu. Too many tutorials skip over this, and it's fundamental to understanding the workflow of the software.

I was trying to find which After Effects video tutorial was so good, it changed how I think about every single program after. ("How can I distill all of these intimidating buttons down to the 3-4 core things we really need to do?") I knew I'd found the right one when I saw my own comment again lol
The way you broke down After Effects also helped me overcome my intimation to learn Fusion 360, Shap3D, and even Javascript. Standout job, even years later.

The first time I ever used after effects was a few years ago for a Logo animation and I had a really hard time trying to get into it. I then didn't use it again, but due to changes in the tye of projects my workplace gets, I agreed to try and learn it so that I can work on those.
You really helped me with this. Not only do I feel like I have learned some basic ways to use the software, but you also have made it look easy to understand. I'm now much more confident in my ability to learn more and use it. Thank you! :)
I’ve had some experience with editing with things such as final cut and premiere but ae was confusing to me and pretty daunting but this helped me learn the basis of ae in literally 8 minutes and you explained this insanely well and no I should be able to search for other effects such as time remapping and masking
no one can better show up basics of aftereffects than you; i did not want to see that video because no one can teach after effects in 10 minutes. Curiously i just clicked this and now i am subscribing this channel due to its ease of teaching. kudos .. Its more than everything for the people who wants to start with " after effects"

We were using an animation software for our animated assets. For some reason the colours were appearing darker when exported. We also had a deadline for these assets. With the deadline looming I decided to watch your tutorial and learn After Effects. I spent 10 mins watching your video and 30 mins putting the animation together and when I exported the colours came out perfectly!

I have been using Kinemaster and Filmora all my life and the amount of features you've listed in the first 2 or so minutes feels innovative to me. I did not know I've been missing on huge grounds like these, like the europeans the entire centuries of their existence before finding out a huge continent's been sitting towards the west the entire time.
Goes by WAY too fast, and yet, it's perfect. In 10 minutes, I've got the vibe of it and I can always replay or reduce the play speed to get a key element later. At the very least, I've gotten 20-30 minutes of "Simple things you can and will be doing in AE unless you're not using AE" packed into 10 minutes, which lets me assess how I want to go forward in understanding those things better.

this is how one teaches how to use After Effects, and what I needed. Every other videos says crash course, but are 4h long videos. I remember when I tried to learn the basics of photoshop, I struggled hard to find something that was simple. There is a place for deep dives, but I think it should come after setting up contexts by explaining the most basic features, and like you did, it should be at most 10 mn. I am now an advanced user of PS, and I could explain it in 5 to 10 mn how to kickstart oneself into photoshop (it isn't as complicated as I lead to believe when I first searched for such ressources).
Thanks God, you're amazing, I always have struggled finding good TH-cam tutorials that aren't exhausting because creators over explain too much, this was perfect, and even tho I knew some basics I still learned new little things that exited me. Keep the good work ✨
