As perverse and absurd as it may seem, this is why we sail. Moments like these light our fire. Living with Nature. Feeling her raw power. Being reminded how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things.
What are your folks thinking for education? Homeschooling preschool or some online program? Also from port to port how much can you get by on speaking English?
Currently I do the 9-5 for a living. You guys live for a living. Those adventures will be fantastic memories and stories to tell your children. And, it’s all documented. Live your best life!
Pretty real, good episode and thoughts. Regarding saving prefilters, they can be washed for a number of times. Also with a modicum investment in pvc pipe fittings and hose you can attach the fittings to the awning and collect good water in those torrential squalls. Old school way. Be well!
They are living a great life sailing around the world, with there beautiful baby, when she grows up she can show people what she was doing during the pandemic, Ben it amazes me what you knows about boat parts and how you can fix them. Have you got any idea how long you will be sailing around the world.
@@BKKNOW1 they are in Canada again right now, they are having their 2nd baby!!! They'll be back at it after the baby comes. They also will get to take the northern passage around Africa, boat repairs this year caused them to miss the window. Super excited for them!!!!!
Wow. Waking up to a little bit of a drizzly day in Toronto just on my first coffee does not even begin to compare with the level of adventure that you three are experiencing on Sailing Nahoa. Thanks for taking us along virtually.
You can rinse the prefilters...put them on a rope. Run the rope through the middle of the filter, and tow behind the boat under way...then haul them in...rinse them off with fresh water, and re-install....this is good for several times....this make your filters last longer
I just use the salt water washdown pump and with a bit of pressure clean them that way. I usually can recycle them 3 times and lasts around 4 months or 100 hours. But where you are anchored now. There is way too much sediment. On my cat, when I can see the props quite clearly, then good to make water.
We were in the Bahamas going between Cays when a vicious squall hit us. My wife said the same thing. "Why don't we just drop the anchor?" I would never have thought of that. Great to have a soulmate aboard.
I've watched a few "sailing around the world" video series lately and I have to say your channel seems the most real and relatable. Keep it up , from Ontario Canada
I LOVE you guys, been watching you for awhile, you make me laugh, I love how real you are, thanks for sharing your life, making recordings is HARD, bless you for doing it. Love the beautiful addition of your daughter
Its not Perverse or Absurd , its all about the journey man !!! When you accept that !!! all the stuff that happens getting there(the journey) takes on new meaning. So it lights your fire !! That means your feeling it . So if you recognise that, you should not have regrets but rather interperate the experience as something achieved/gained etc etc. Thanks for the vids :)
The baby is so absolutely Pretty! I love looking at her! She was really enjoying those dishes. My 1 yr old granddaughter spent an hour and 1/2 playing in a cardboard box today! Forget toys!
Thanks guys. Been there done that! Yes people don’t realize that you are not just sitting on deck sipping margaritas. I love the scene when it went from Sixty knots ( there was a bit there when it was probably blowing that hard). To the baby and the dishes! Ha ha. What a contrast. You are doing great!
KEEP sailing! And keep showing that sweet little girl! With your "adventures" somewhat curtailed, she is one of the reasons that I keep watching your channel. The prawns! WONDERbar! You surely know the "spot prawns" of the Pacific Coast in N. America. They can get up to 25 cms and I have had many of that size. Ben. YOUR voice is so melodic. You could get a job as a voice actor easily. Your timbre and cadence is so soothing. Besides being a very handsome guy, you are very handy and also very calm and collected... MOST of the time! I've enjoyed all of your videos, even this rather dreary one. Stay well and stay safe!
I can't get past the beautiful little girl crawling around on a blue water catamaran ... I love you guys, your adventurous spirit and endless enthusiasm to see what is over the horizon, but I can't watch you putting that baby at risk anymore. I wish you all the best. Please be safe and give your beautiful daughter a hug for me.

Love how you talked about making the best of any situation, be positive, life is a journey with so many ups and downs. So look forward to my Sunday videos, the Thai people are so nice, can't wait to get back. Greetings from White Rock
You can reuse your water maker filters a few times, by tying them on to the back of the boat, and dragging them in the sea as you go along for half an hour or so. Hose off with water maker water. Each re-use will last less time, but if you are short of filters or they get clogged quickly this is a way of making them last.
Really enjoyable video because it's so honest! Nasty blow but all dealt with, need for mouth to smut on a drowned rabbit and some bartering for the freshest of fresh prawns. All great. Somebody has already recommended catching the water to save your filters which is a great idea. One to keep water out of the boat is a couple of other bloggers have mentioned how having your surf/paddleboards attached to your stanchions results in the foot of the stanchion flexing because they really aren't designed for those loads (esp in winds you just saw). Result is water leaks down the tie-down bolts are likely to occur and this is more like if the deck caulking is old and tired. Might be worth stowing elsewhere if you can or monitoring those stanchions you might be affected. Hope you get South soon to gentler conditions.
As the wind an rain whipped Mummy an Daddy outside... Sweet lil Willa was lookin thru The dishes for anything to help! I so love that lil sweet girly an your just brilliant fun ppl... Thanks for showing what it's seriously like out there... ✌🏻💗☺️❣️
Octopus is the best of all!! I really liked the background scenery when showing us the watermaker. Filters can be cleaned. They lose effectiveness if you spray outside. Always reverse flow to flush ammonia to clean evaporates completely.
A pre-prefilter for the water maker or sail out to clearer water and make water .. mangroves actually filter sediment but the local lack of Ag development controls - such as run off especially in the rainy season for that area is just hard to avoid .. keep the videos coming.. enjoy watching them from the US ..
We lived on our boat in Phuket for over twelve miles months and I recognise the area that you are in. We always washed our water maker filters in water using a hose or we would some times hose them down and leave them in a bucket of water with bleach for half an hour, some people toe them behind the boat If you have a 50,20 and 5 micron filter it makes sense We would do this several times with no ill effect on the water maker
i hope you show us the behind the scenes like the wind blowing the boat over the anchor, these small things i would like to know, as im going to be living the dream, soon, after spending months and months doing up a yacht, only too find, its easier to just buy one thats is workable, but i look at the experience it has taken me on, nothing to waste.. everything to gain, there is always something to do on any boat,

Save your pre-filters and collect rain water, also the rain water might help with cleaning the pre-filters so you can reuse them.
Good idea.
They said they are in murky water so that doesnt help. The cleaner the water the less stress on the filters.
