I started working at Amazon 2 weeks ago. And i had to go through stages adjusting to warehouse
1st excitment for the highest paying job i ever had, then regret because my body was falling apart i could barely walk during hell week, and now contentness because my body’s adjusting and I’m finally getting good at the job. I appreciate your videos because it showed me if I push myself through that pain that first week I could actually get good at this job and have the potential to climb the company ladder. Never stop uploading thank you for the knowledge

I think this is a much needed convo that uve genuinely addressed. I think u being a black man in America talking about this, is important for other black men and women too. This is encouraging to set a high standard for the black community again and change the stereotypes that have been put on us for the last few decades. This was a really good video S.B! I really enjoy all of ur videos and this one is another gem 💎 Keep being a great example✌🏽.

Another way to view the “some people get away with everything” is to acknowledge that people do not know all that has happened leading up to one person being disciplined when others are not. It could be that the person who is called out for ear buds etc. has already had several disciplinary conversations with their Manager.

And I go hard as hell everyday, because I have to, if not they,ll find a way to get rid of me within the week, that's a fact, some ppl could show up to work and not do shit, and not do shit intentionally and they,ll be fine and have a job, is it fair, hell no, but it's facts, it is what it is

The "black" manager at my building is actually African. I think he's Ethiopian. I haven't seen an African-American manager. There's also one that looks Asian and several white women are managers. Many of the techs that maintain the robots are African-American, male and female. I had a black learning ambassador talk to me once. That's Connecticut for you. California is probably much more progressive.

DSM9 Amazon has a manager that's all about continuing his problem just like i told HR to begin with, so Eventually I'll handle that individual myself so they know a Man is going to approach them regardless of who they are with when they are Not at work , keep enjoying themselves, because the job don't have nothing to do with these hands out in public off the job . They wanted the attention so I'll clock in when that happens.

Its things that can be deemed an a opinion or a assumption at my location but what I do see is every race of people work by there selfs in separate areas and no one associates from race to race unless there area mangers or process assistants I've even tried talking to other races but they kept it moving or seemed nervous I would say it's a huge lack of diversity in my location but then again the state I live in behind when it comes to diversity in America

let me break it down so there's no confusion right now. when some people get in trouble whoever they may be, "for thing like headphones" when other people don't get in trouble let me just pose this question right quick.
if there are two people and one of them works hard and is professional in the work-place (not a potential sexual harassment or harassment-harassment lawsuit waiting to happen) and both people no matter what color or ethnicity they are (even lets just say they are the same in almost every respect in this matter) and they both wear earphones in front of the boss. in your heart of hearts truthfully now: which one will the boss reprimand first? and do you honestly think the boss is doing it out of racism? c'mon now, in your heart of hearts. now if you are an honest person then you already know.
now lets say that you are the boss, and you have bosses over you, and they want everything to flow good at work and if it doesn't than now its your problem, your job, your salary, your life is on the line. who are you going to correct first of both these people?
maybe we are a little too quick to judge things that maybe aren't exactly as bad maybe or what we thought they were?
    im just saying.

That headphone ex. was a very general example. But with that example I actually HAVE seen a manager only write up black people and literately stood around the corner to try and catch a AA while he had them in while walking and talking to others who had it in, so out of my hearts of heart I have seen this with my own eyes... just wasn't trying to put the details out there. Also have seen this very thing take place when it came to people not having their mask on.. to productivity etc. not everyone is like that but sad to say there are some.

Hmm, this one is a bit of a thinker for me, as I've experienced both the advantages and disadvantages of race while working at amazon.
Legitimatly the best managers I've had at amazon were African American, and one Mexican dude No cap. In my experience when I'm working under someone that understands my work ethic I'm able to do and perform extremely well, which tends to garner attention from other people.I've legit only had 1 white manager my entire time working at amazon that also gave me the most amount of issues in hindsight, I've legitimately have only received 2 write ups, my first one being on my first week because the learning ambassador did a poor job explaining the job and I opened a pack that shouldn't have been opened. My second and only legitimate write up being from this manager because I was "under performing" from the standard of amazon when they were explicitly telling us bad information on how to get a good rate for that department. When I talked with them about it and made my point known, they immediately in the next meeting backtracked everything they said before and just left me with the write up, which in hindsight I shouldn't have signed because I legitimately was overperforming in a whole different department while also being forced to cross train while being under at the time. If I had received the write up on my own merit and I knew I was under performing that would be one thing, but my manager purposely sent me to another department while seeing that my rate was down, meaning I would be guaranteed a write up for that path. Wasn't just me she did this to either, it just didn't really affect me other than that one write up because I will always face adversity even when people are getting in my way. I have unfortunately seen the trickle effect go down come to other black men that were struggle specifically when cross training in a department they didn't excel at, and IMO were trying to be let go of from the building.
That department I generally had a problem with as a whole that was in part due to racism in some parts. I've definitely heard the "Lazy worker" argument thrown around, but the funny thing that I've tend to see and experience is that more often than not you will have African ameircans doing the hardest labor for the departments. For that building, whether it was tote running (terrible job), loading up trucks, loading up the conveyor belts, serving as water spider, etc, in my observation at least in the building I would work at it tended to be mostly black people working those jobs. For myself however, I wanted to do problem solve specifically because I was trying to build experience and repoire at the time to move onto a developer position within, but from talking with people in the positon I wanted to be at the best way to do it internally was to get problem solve experience then branch onto other roles that worked with different systems. I will do the work for other roles, but particularly with problem solve I can say with high degree of confidence that I was one of the most efficient people that was doing that job. Despite having consistently the cleanest shifts while people are calling me TO CLEAN UP THEIR MESS, they would never allow me to do it regularly. I was the highest performer in 2 different departments, didn't matter to my manager because she delegated all of that responsibility to her PA, which only cared to elect woman into the role at the time because he was thirsty af.
Despite all that I don't think amazon is racist at all, and as you've said it's comprised of the community where the building is located, so you will see and experience different things based on where your located. The people are and will absolutely be racist 100%, and that's something you'll probably always see in different forms, sometimes unintentionally from places that try to hard to be inclusive, which is the case IMO from what I've seen from Amazon and the place that I currently work.
I will say though blatant racism is pretty rare in most places I've worked, it tends to be more on the side of unconscious biases happening. Where amazon is exclusive towards imo is actually ageism more than any other job imo, as well as somewhat of a dangerous job to have when you actually do get sick or need to take time off for emergencies. I've seen way more people get effectively removed due to either age or being injured more than any other category, to a degree in which it's almost uncomfortable.

Wow great feedback fam always interesting to hear other peoples experience and I’ve never really thought to hard on the ageism side but that’s something I’ve herd as well, let’s Keep elevating!
