From a life long Yankee fan, I wish you well Big Papi during your retirement. I tip my cap to you in respect for all you have done for baseball and the city of Boston.

Best rivalry in all of baseball. I’m a Yankees fan but loved David Ortiz and respected what he’s done with the organization and the city of Boston. Even the pinestripe fans got tearful when he retired.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, I have no qualms with admiring Ortiz both as a player and a person. Guy was one of the best pure hitters of his generation and an amazing ambassador for the sport of baseball. Easily a first-ballot Hall of Fame’er in my book. Nothing but respect for this man.
I will give the same great respect to David Ortiz that I gave to longtime Yankee Derek Jeter, both destined for the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY! David although I've always been a lifelong Orioles fan and a rival to the Red Sox, you've been an inspiration to so many people, myself included, you've shown how competitive the game can be, and you've been an outstanding player right up to the end of your career, I speak for all Orioles fans when I say thank you for all you've done for baseball, and you'll always be welcome here in Baltimore, God bless you!

As a Yankees fan, I wanna say congrats to Big Papi on a wonderful career. Rivalries can be loving, too. Whoever boos him is just a disgrace. Yankees players respect him too. He is a wonderful guy with a loving heart. I wish you the best of luck and respect for the rest of your life.
Ya Red Sox fans loved Rivera and Jeter as well, I feel like between the ceremony we had at Fenway for those two (separate of course) and the one you guys had at Yankee stadium for Ortiz, there is a lot of respect for the opposing players and fanbases in those moments. We all had a lot of fun, and it was a great ride and we both go the better of eachother and both won it all after doing so. It’s just a great story and sharing of mutual respect between the fanbases, Ortiz, Jeter and Rivera m. Congratulations to Aaron Judge on his HR achievement, what an incredible hitter

Respect to Red Sox. As a 3rd Generation NY born Yankees fan, I know we aren't all perfect, but some of us are.. respect. You gave Jeter a great ceremony, we can't match that but we can show we care too.
The Red Sox and their fans did a great job honoring Jeter and Mariano at their last appearances in Fenway. There may be a big rivalry, but there's an awful lot of respect going both ways, and that's really nice to see.
