Yet another up close and personal story told by a native! For most people, the Spring Festival is a time for family gathering and looking forward to a new and hopefully better year ahead. What I find interesting is the father went back to a place where he grew up but no longer lives. Apparently, he has not forgotten where he came from, in contrast with some who would rather not look back at the hard life that they had.
Really good video that captured the essence of a rural Chinese village. You commentary is very exceptional and quite poetic; in particular I liked your expression of bygone times: “Days were slower in the past. The paths were long, like the far off mountains turned into clouds.” So true, so poetic, so beautiful.
Thankyou for the insight into your familys past. I agree that "hometown" is more linked to our strong emotional connection to a place. A feeling of home.
I truly appreciate your high quality production. The Chinese perspective, the dialogue, the photography, the choreography. You put everything together so well. Congratulations. I’m a big fan. And I just love to discover more about all aspects of China.
This is the first of your videos that I have watched, I love how you capture the charm of traditional life in rural China. I have spent time in many villages in China over the years, and have always found the people welcoming and honest. The street markets that are everywhere often have the most interesting and best foods. Thanks for sharing this very personal video.
I love this narration of your hometown. I have been away from my “hometown “ for more than 42 years but every time I came back from abroad, it is and remains to that hometown similar to yours
I stumbled on a few videos that were hosted by Chinese, and I learned more than continuing education taught by Havard professors. My father was Chinese, I was born in BKK but lived in the US for a decade. I am glad to return home in search of Buddha and Asia. You are one of the quality producers. Thanks.
You have an excellent video presentation that covers culture, heritage, community life and history. Your aerial footage are fascinating. You clearly discuss topics and present them so clearly ! Regards from New Jersey, US.
I am half Chinese. Watching the daily life of the village people, it doesn't look all that much different from the daily lives of my Chinese families back when they were living and working on their farm far, far away from China. When one of them passed on, they would say that person has gone back to China. And yes, CNY or Spring Festival was a very special day for them and all overseas Chinese.
What an amazing video as always, i'm sure one day your channel it's going to grow so much. You have an incredible family, Happy Chinese new year of the loong!
I have to say this video was best to me about the view and Chinese culture . I love so much Chinese original culture . I wish one day I can visit the Chinese village
Thank you so much for taking us along to all these special places rich in history, and intruducing us to your family. 🙏 This really made me think, about places I've lived, and how even in the generations after displacement, it makes me one of those Europeans who don't quite have a hometown. Maybe one day. But it's beautiful to see this rooted 'home' feeling in others! Your videos, impressions and stories are always sublime. And my god, those pink pigs are so lively and cute! 😄 Happy New Year!
Hello! I've just watch two of your videos and I enjoyed the way you narrated, it's wholesome and simple yet the words and your voice and the way you say it, come off lyrical and it's a verynice way of story telling. I also enjoyed the videos and the content. Thank you, it's like I also experienced the places, culture and the emotion❤️.
Chinese new year greetings from Melaka, Malaysia. I envy Chinese being able to return to their ancestral villages during the celebrations. The ancestral villages of Malaysian Chinese is by tradition still in China. A very important day for Fuchien Malaysians during Lunar celebrations is called Pai Tian Kong on the eight day.
The rural life in China is very similar to rural life in Northeast India. The house structure, way you guys smoke meat and also the terrain. Even though we are divided by boundary and politics, it's refreshing to see the similarity of way of life. Keep making more videos like this.👍
I like the sweet potato vermicelli the best. I'm making sweet potato for my dinner right now. The countryside around your grandparent's old house is very beautiful. Have you ever thought to stay the summer there?
I am German and my wife is Chinese, so I am generally interested in China. I like to see your videos, however what I don't like about it, that you make the videos with a sad and melodramatic vibe. Why don't you take a happier approach? It would make me more smile. :)

好喜欢这些勾起无限回忆的视频,好像自己回到了童年。你的视频,文案,述说,特别真切感人。“为什么我的眼里常含泪水?因为我对这土地爱得深沉”。

فيديو رائع ،❤
Sehr interessant, vielen Dank 🙂 ❤❤❤❤❤
I lived in Macau for 6 years and know the importance of Chinese new year. We used to say Sang ni fai lok, kung he fa choi.

Hey, William!!! Bon appétit. That's a good choice
山区猪圈很干净。看上去山村肯定比过去进步了许多,老百姓的生活也一定有了实质性的改善。
