  • Car FOUND While Police Investigate Steven MacKrell Missing Persons Case In this video we search for missing person Steven MacKrell after he went missing from a local gas station.
Steven MacKrell was a father for his daughter Skylar, a son, a boyfriend, a brother; a man who had many people who loved him. 4 years ago, he vanished.
"I dream sometimes that he's coming home," said his mom Astrid MacKrell. "He's knocking on the door, I'm going to open the door and he's there. I just hope those dreams will come true. I'm still looking of him."
His mom drives around with "missing posters" taped to her car, hoping someone will give her information.
On evening of July 29th, Steven had drinks with one of this brothers and a friend at Lucky's Tavern downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Then, the last place he was seen was at a gas station at Sample Road and Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach in the early morning of July 30th of 2015. He was buying snacks.
A little later, surveillance video captured him again, it appeared there was some type of verbal altercation.
"There he had a conversation with some people in a car," said Astrid. "And those people, they left and my son threw a can toward the car. And I guess that got them upset."
Police say surveillance video captured a picture of a passenger who was in that car. More surveillance video shows that same car take off after Steven pulled out.
His girlfriend, Alisha Carr, the woman he shared a child with, wants to know what happened next.
"Maybe they ran him off the road and he went into a lake," she wondered. "I'm so uncertain because there's so many different scenarios I've thought about."
Police have checked on that, but found nothing.
"We searched almost 200 bodies of water in and around the Pompano Beach area looking for any sign of MacKrell or his vehicle," said Fort Lauderdale Police Spokeswoman Casey Liening.
The family knows the outlook is bleak, but just wants to know for certain what happened.
"They probably murdered him because where is he?" asked Astrid. "I forgive them," she said. "I have forgiven them and I pray for their salvation, that one day they come to know Christ and one day they will step for the truth of what happened." #coldcase #missingperson #scubadiving

Here's a tip; (based on personal experience), my neighbor disappeared & the only clue to her whereabouts was her German Shepherd pacing the road, miles from her house. One side of the road had a field, the other a guard rail/cliff below descending to a steep canyon. Searchers were hesitant to search there because they believed that the Guard rail made it an impossibility for her car to have gone over. A lone searcher on Horseback decided to check the sides of the Canyon anyway.. Sadly, she was found there near the bottom of the Canyon; (ejected from her SUV).😔 Her Dog must have also been ejected, (he was not hurt). She suffered a stroke, & they think she passed out/died with her foot on the gas pedal before the car went over. There were no marks on the Guard Rail (that I could see), at least at the area of her Memorial💐. Moral of this story; check even those areas WITH Guard rails, and some rails went up AFTER that individual disappeared. btw I'm glad you guys are not giving up having a search/recovery type channel after all the controversy. The more people there are out there searching, the better!

Brit, I am confused about the way those guys approached the situation. When one of them said that there was no evidence of a car going in, I started to lose it. After 4 years there isn't going to be any evidence. Apparently, they did realize that situation was above their pay grade and called the guys in who could handle it better. It looked like it didn't take long for them to get things done. Nice job guys. Keep up the good work. Be safe.

If you noticed, the first group to arrive was firefighters, they responded in with lights flashing. Dispatch more then likely did not understand the circumstance as dispatched the call as a “car in the water” thinking it just happened. That’s probably why the firefighter sad he saw no tire traces or evidence of a car in the water.

@@vernadevney3089 what’s to be concerned about? No tracks, no brush push out of the way. Seems the Fire Officer was sizing up the incident as they were rolling in. Had there been any tell-tail signs it would have been a lot different. Serious, not picking on you, (I have 42 years in a very large department in fire service) as a person of the public how would you have approached the incident? I’m being very serious, we see things one way, the public sees it in a different light. As a teachable moment, what could the firefighters have done to seem concerned? I constantly tell my people, YOU in the eyes of the public are the department. Your actions, tone of your voice, questions you ask reflect back on the department. I watched the video, so we saw the same thing, I think we can agree with the units running code, they at first may have thought this just happened, the officer of the unit is trained to start looking for information as they roll in. They did not know four years had past, they had no idea anyone was out on the water looking. The situation was not above their pay grade, just not an emergency for
them, once they learned the history, its a police issue. So again, not at all instigating, but learning, in your opinion how should they have acted?

It's not that they did not want to do anything, they had nothing to do, it's NOT AN EMERGENCY ANY LONGER, it's a RECOVERY, a police matter. I would have thought first that you gentlemen would have dived on it to clear it first by license plate, then let the police know they are down there. If no one was in the vehicles, they could remove them with training for their dive teams.
Really hope you find the guy you’re looking for. It’s been so long. He needs to come home and be laid to rest and to give his family some peace. ❤

Given the circumstances of the case involving foul play the dive team mentioned they'd rather have their own divers dive on the vehicles in their city

I am so astonished by the lack of interest by the “professionals” that arrived on the scene. Maybe they thought it was a “just happened” crash or maybe that’s how it was relayed to them so rescue wasn’t needed? 🤷‍♀️ At least law enforcement acted on this and there was clarification.

Do you ever get follow up on cars that get pulled even if they aren't the ones you were looking for? Also, you said there was another car next to that one, what happened with it?

Thank you, again, fir your work and dedication, and remember that you simply bringing attention to the cases helps people to keep a lookout and to not forget.
Why did you decide to search before daylight...is it possible to view the sonar better in recently undisturbed waters?
At least they took you seriously in the end...Any word on why that vehicle was in the water (w/ keys in the ignition)?
Have a safe and fruitful trip with CD & Josh!

Interesting to me how they are all authorities on what it would look like if a car went in there... Do they not know whom they are dealing with? Experienced divers with on the job training in reading sonar? Apparently if they know it's been down there... why haven't they removed it just for the negative environmental impact alone.
If I didn't know better, those Florida boys in the big red truck didn't seem to want to get wet! They allllll had to show up, but it took them awhile to wanna get involved.
Keep searching Britton... Keep on doing the good work. Families out there appreciate your efforts.
    Safe diving y'all... Blessings

That first firefighter needs to go back to Congeniality School, what a jerk! "Get that camera out of my face", it wasn't in his face, what a jerk! Then, argued about how long the vehicle had been underwater. It didn't look like it had been down there for years, it looked pretty new to me. What a jerk!

For the record, a few years ago I fell asleep driving, probably at about 50 mph and my car tore out a guard rail (over a large canal). Within two weeks it was replaced by the county and you would have never known that a car went through it.

    👋 friend,
    First, EXCELLENT videography,, super clear.
Next... great find. Not who you're looking for but a find is a WIN in your column.
Next... the fella in the store, was that MacKrell? If so, he took several missteps, could have been under influence, might have stumbled over his own foot.
Next,,did the one fireman ask for camera out of face?
    Great work guys.
Grace, always good to see you out there
