Great work Alan. May be beneficial to anyone watching that when inflating the expansion vessel the system drain on the boiler needs to be open. Otherwise you will obtain a false reading. Digital gauge is a must also. 😉
Love your videos I'm starting my gas course in march! Super nervous but so excired. I never thought I'd do something like this but working in the office in property maintenance opened my eyes a bit. I'll deffo be watching your videos aand going on site a lot xxxx
Hi Allen, great video. Just a heads up with the Fernox TF1 filter, there is no need to open it up. All you have to do is remove the magnet and drain the filter out. Flush it a little with the system water to remove all of the debris. We've installed so many of them and never had the need to open them up.
Smashing it 😀 just received my certificates last week! got myself a little.van and buying gas card next week any advice wouldn’t go a miss! Wish me luck lol! keep up the videos mate
I’m starting my gas course in a month and I’ve been watching all of your videos and especially this one I really liked as it showed me the inside components and different types of boilers, something I’m very new to, thank you Allen for the helpful videos I know I’m going to find this course easier now cos of you. Any videos on your channel you’d recommend for me or a new learner to watch? thanks again!
Hey Allan look after ur self ur health looking down in this video. You are like teacher to me learn a lot from ur videos.u gave me confidence. Sincere wishes from me.
We use an electronic LGSR on our mobile phones, you’ve got to take photos at various intervals during the service of things like flue sample points and test nipples replaced with LDF on them to prove they were put back after service. This protects the engineer from someone tampering with boiler and the engineer getting the blame.
Hello Allen I like your good honest videos and you certainly no your job , I have a weird problem with my Ravenheat system boiler which does not seem to like the cold ( don't we all ) it goes through it's cycle etc and can hear it sparking but when it's cold it is reluctant to fire up , I turn it off and retry a while later and the old gal fires up bless her ! once she is warm she readily and keen to fire up on the thermostat no problem , strange eh ?
Nice one Al great video. If you get a chance would you be able to do a video on “how to drain a heating system if there isn’t any drain offs” please 👍🏼 Cheers
Fantastic video I got a vaillant eco tec pro my flue goes up and horizontal for 2 metres I'm sometimes getting water coming out from flue it sounds like a big burp and then bosh water falls out I've been caught out a few times while smoking outside.boiler is 10 years old serviced every 12 months absolutely no issues with boiler just a small concern why it's doing this my gas engineer says it's fine for the last 10 years since he installed it.HOPE YOU GOT SOME SOUND ADVICE
Thanks for the video Allen, just wonder on the 2nd boiler service that you said flue too close to the door and also socket need to be done right, did you write down to recorded or you told customer? or what you need to do when you service a boiler and have something like that?thank you im just new to Gas safe, thank you
Where do you stand with boilers not fitted to regs? The baxi ecoblue is not to regs, did you at risk it? Another firm could go there next year make a report without touching the boiler and you would be liable because you could have been the last one there. Enjoy the vids👍
alan could you possibly recommend an electric combi boiler for a very samll 2 bedroom cottage with underfloor heating, would an ordinary combi boiler be enough? thanks
Hi good video , with the flue being too close to the opening what decision did you make ie, not to current standard and advise customer ? Is it ok to still leave the boiler running . I'm just curious as I always find things like this grey areas. What's your threshold on when to leave boiler running and when to switch it off in a situation like this ? Many thanks . Dave Kerr
@@AllenHart999 nice 1, always learning off guys like yourself . Please keep it up as your helping the rest of us who want to learn be better gas installers . Cheers
Hi Alan great vid again, just doing my First time acs.. that last Baxi service, you note flue to close to opening,.. how did you leave it?? Did you have to class it as AR or just make a note of it, as I get told different rules to follow and many a people saying “nah it’s fine” cheers
Yes it will fit , you only need a 5 inch hole if your fitting the rubber collar on the flue to push through the hole and then pull it back against the wall to seal the hole......👍
Hi allen, liking the videos, how much do your charge for a service, or rough price, especially for something like a strip down on a HE when replacing burner/heat exchanger gaskets. Price in Dublin is roughly 100 euro. Thanks for the vids.
Looking to do my gas safe quals to become a gas safe engineer , any recommendations on what courses or course providers to go with, and have no previous experience in heating or plumbing any info appreciated 👍🏼
I love explaining how carbon monoxide detectors work. I see one round a friends house the other day sitting on the floor next to the fire place🤷🏼♂️. I just said do you know what to do if your sitting in living room when that goes off? “ yeah turn the fire off and open the windows”, “No your fkin dead cos by the time it goes off 3 feet below your head you’ve probably been dead for 20 mins🤯

That is not the way to clean a tf1 out .... open the drain point and pull the magnet out , this uses the system to flush the sludge out without removing the lid and having problems with the o ring ;)
@@tomadams6034 You are correct, I have flushed them before and then removed lid to check, It always leaves some magnetite at the top, Best way is to remove the lid and clean o ring and replace, In my opinion anyway. Thanks.
