He has a very smooth stroke - I noticed the first time I watched him. I think part of what makes it so fluid is that his wrist remains locked at and after the contact point and he makes his contact quite far from his body so his arm is always fully extended. His finish is reminiscent of classic forehand styles (like McEnroe etc) but instead of a continental grip, his is more eastern and he finishes high, at about head height. Next gen forehand styles have a lot of wrist movement after contact and finish lower. It’s refreshing to see a unique style like JJs!

Incredibly similar to Del Potro's. Same grip (eastern forehand grip), same racket drop (they bypass the "pat the dog" position and drop the racket like a stick, before entering the racket lag position), and same contact point (both have a fully extended arm at contact, otherwise know as a straight arm forehand). Only difference I would say is Del Potro has a higher racket on preparation, resulting in a bigger backswing.

Nice use of a popular player /forehand to expound on pretty universal forehand mechanics. I think one thing very noticable about his forehand in particular is the spacing. On a neutral ball, his stroke appears to be far closer to full stretch than many other players, not just out in front of him, but laterally. With this distance, he's benefiting from the leverage of the very end of a whip snap. No wonder he gets some surprising pace on some running wide gets. I wouldn't necessarily teach his technique, but I'd use this as a lesson for rec players to consider hitting the ball from further away from the ball than they think they should, and see what the results are.

Nice job sir! What are your thoughts about Sinner's forehand, would you mind making a video about that too?

I think his FH is little bit unique compared to other ATP pros. His take back is 3 times more compared to Mannarino space wise :) His hitting arm straightens much earlier so he doesn't use elbow flipping at all. His entire arm acts as a long lever which means his spacing from the ball has to be much further away from body compared to other players. His FH is definitely powerful.

Very good analysis Ryan! Is JJ (mullet) Wolf using an eastern forehand grip? It looks like not only is his hairstyle old school, but also his forehand grip. 👍👍👏👏🎾🎾🎾

@@2MinuteTennis I guess he means the RF way. Racquet facinn the ground for a fraction of seconds just prior to the lag.
So difficult besides he's the only one who gets to stop his racquet backswing at his hip like a wall was against his back ( Maybe Sinner does it too).
