  • Because of its wide variety of options and packages the Ram 1500 Big Horn is one of the most popular trims that Ram sells. Everything from a base model with hardly any options to a fully loaded Big Horn competing with Laramie and Limited Trims in price and options. The Big Horn covers almost every truck buyer, but is it the right trim level for you?

    I've never liked leather seating so the Big Horn is the highest package I can go

    Already spec-ing one out when I'm done with my Durango .. probably another Destroyer Grey with Night Edition (Blacktop on Durango).. Although I think Destroyer Grey might be going away soon? Good luck with the channel!

      Destroyer Grey is not going to be available anymore, the closest you could get is probably the billet silver or granite crystal on the Ram. Thanks 🙏🏻

    I bought the Lonestar edition with the V6 motor which comes standard with Etorque and 2000# payload capacity with nearly 7000# towing capacity. It does not have 4WD but thats ok as I only tow my boat and almost never used the 4WD option I had on my 4th generation Ram

      How is your fuel economy on the V6? I’m genuinely curious.

    I got a v6 4×4 version. Didn't tell my mom I traded my Subaru Outback for it. I went to pick her up from work. She was looking for my Outback when she finally looked at the driver of the truck, opened the door and said: "WHAT THE F@CK IS THIS?"

    I like my bighorn, mine is pretty much loaded minus the sunroof and air suspension which I did not want.

      That’s the brilliant thing about the big horn, you can have it however you like!

    I payed $39,000 for my 2020 big horn it had everything I wanted and more which may seem crazy in todays market but I buy slightly used and run it till it’s costing me lots of money I have base radio and black and white screen on dash with standard 5.7 hemi. Everything is a big update from my last truck which was a 07 Laramie 2wheel drive. I may be old school alittle for my age but I think longevity i want a truck for usability and with least amount of electronic options that I can live with since I know within 10 to 15 years I’ll be replacing them when they wear out. All that heated seat and steering wheel cost a lot and have never had the appeal to need them. the heaters in these new trucks are so good that I don’t see a point just hit autostart and let it preheat for 5 mins and truck is warm. I payed $19,900 for my 07 Laramie in 2009 and that truck would now not even please a tradesman kind of guy but was top of the trone then. I also like the quad cab for the longer bed since I pull travel trailer and need extra box storage with kids. The room is a lot more on these 5th gens from 3 rd gen.

    Whats a better choice a 2022 big horn or 2020 Laramie

    • @SauerHorsepower
      @SauerHorsepower  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably go low-mileage Laramie over new big horn. But I am a sucker for the nicer interiors. If you don’t care about the interior, go big horn.

    Why take the eTorque off? The benefits are well worth the cost. The savings in fuel are sufficient to justify the added expense... unless you just bought the truck to park in the driveway... and only use it to get your groceries once a week.

    • @SauerHorsepower
      @SauerHorsepower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want more luxury amenities and don’t necessarily care about the slight increase in fuel mileage an individual might want to get a truck without eTorque if they are trying to fit the price into a budget.

      I see your point, but realistically a 5.7L HEMI idling at an intersection... waiting for the lights to change... burns/wastes just short of an ounce of fuel. Multiply that by however many intersections a person regularly stops at... plus any heavy stop and go traffic... and by the end of each day it begins to add up to a great deal more than a _'slight savings'_ in fuel. In fact, it quickly becomes noticeable in the wallet.
      If you don't drive much in the city... and mainly drive on the highway... then it becomes negligible. For most pickup truck owners (e.g: tradesmen; site workers; etc...), city traffic is unavoidable; and the savings in fuel is the difference between continuing to use the same tools that you needed to replace last year, or upgrading/replacing them after the first year of owning the new truck.
      I'm looking at the big picture; and it sometimes doesn't pay to cheap out on certain options.
      Then again, there's always the EcoDiesel... which costs more and saves even more $$$$. Either way, RAM gives us options that make sense to a wide variety of people.

      All the reasons above and the etorque makes the Ram competitive in acceleration, increases capacity, and helps in the summer to keep the A/C running at stop lights. There really is no reason to purchase a etorque. It's a 200 dollar option not a 2000. Ram 5.7 without etorque is 1795. The 5.7 etorque is 1995.

      Sep 2020, Page 61. Car and Driver would disagree. I did the same thing. And ordered my 2021 Ram Longhorn with out the eTorque. I saved 74 Lbs of weight and $200.00 Bucks. Plus in Mn winters the stupid Auto Start- Stop. You freeze your butt off in Neg -25 temps. And being a Disabled Combat Vet. I only do take my Ram out. Once or twice a week. Last year year i only but on 1,795 Miles. On my old 2016 Ram Big Horn.

      @@davidporter7051 The eTorque has a lower Capacity. Than the base 5.7 Hemi, in the 4x4's. Only in the Quad cab 4x2. Does it better the Base Hemi. In all 4x4 Pay Load and Towing ratings. The eTorque has Less Capacity. It is right in the 2019 Dealer Brochure last page.

    Great truck but stay away from the etorque . Buy one without it
