About the association between a person and their profile: the opposite happened to me, one of my childhood friends has always used Brook (from one piece) as his profile pic. When I tried reading the manga my brain would always imagine Brook's lines sounding exactly like this one friend.
Interesting. I have to disagree on the "pure identity" bit, though. Those things that we do not control are indeed part of our identities. We wouldn't be the same without them, so I don't think it makes sense to call the part that we do control the "true" or "unaltered" one.
this is actually so true. bonus points goes for some niche reference in your avatar or nametag. I put "tulpa" as a fake clan tag in my steam username as a joke but consistently at least once every two weeks I'll get someone who actually knows what it means add me just because of the clan tag..
I was listening to this while making food. Agree with most of what you have said on this video, but reality is very interesting bro, and I think this applies to every person no matter what type of place they came from.

I'm glad you don't have a goku pfp because then I would never see a take as good as this.
My attention span is too low for this video. WE NEED A CAT CAM!

Those who are not gay and embrace chinese proverb profile pictures:
some good points about identity here, reminds me a lot of serial experiments lain with how people choose their online representations.
You made some great points but I still think anime avatar racism is justified
