    Wow, truly informative 👏🏽 👌🏾 👍🏽
Most Ja teachers have the preconception that things might be easier in America as it relates to the job. I'm happy you pointed out that though experiences are different; the workload might be more.

Very detailed. I love how passionate you are. However, the experiences will also vary depending on which school you taught at while in Jamaica. Windward Road Primary is similar to many American schools and so the adjustment to American was different on my part. Also, I never used an agency to get my job placement in America so I knew what I was heading into. Thank you for this video. Continue to shine.

Did you need a state license to get the job or did you pass courses or something after arrival to get it as you worked?

Some schools in Jamaica also prepare Jamaican teachers for this type of workload.

I just found your channel and I'm in love already!
I just want to ask some questions
When did you move to the USA and did you go alone or with family?
How long did it take you to process everything, like from the beginning till when you got the VISA?
Lastly you didn't mention IELTS, is it that you did not take the proficiency test? I just want to know. I would like to apply before the end of the yr that's why I want those clarifications. thank you

I first travelled alone and my family came after. The processing time was quick. As soon as the program sent the DS2019 form I scheduled the interview. The dates for the J1 visa was readily available when compared to a visitor's visa. I went and got everything in hand in less than a month. No, I did not need to take the IELTS. I doubt if any of the programs require it but I am not 100% sure. Thanks for watching and I hope I answered your questions.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for sharing this video very detailed. How supportive is your programne sponsor as it relates to teachers who are struggling to adapt to the culture and are having others challenges related to the parents and kids with issue. I had a short lived exoerience back in 2017. I didnt get much support at all.
