The name twenty one pilots comes from a play by Arthur Miller called "All My Sons" - its about an airplanes parts maker during war time who figured out the parts he just made were faulty and he had a choice to either send those parts off and make his money knowing they were bad or he could basically just eat the money and redo the parts correctly - he just chose send the bad parts and as a result twenty one pilots died (and I believe a couple were his own sons) - so they say the name of the band is a reminder to always make the best decisions even if they're tough
The last part of this song is about his struggles with religion - the person he's singing towards here is God in that last verse and he doesn't want to tell everyone that and be labeled - thats why he talks about denying it - which is a reference to something in the Bible about St Peter denying knowing Jesus 3 times

My daughter introduced me to this band! They are amazing! My daughter always gets tickets in the pit. She has held up Josh, and said it is not difficult to do. There are so many fans holding them up, it's really easy. The name comes from a play called "All My Sons" by Arthur Miller. It's an emotional story about decisions we make in our lives. In the story a man knowingly sends faulty airplane parts that lead to the death of Twenty One Pilots during WWII. That man commits suicide at the end of the play. It's very emotional and powerful. It's message is to choose to make the right decisions in life, even if those decisions are difficult.
