I have never been suicidal but I lost my cousin and 2 close friends who committed suicide over a span of about 15 years. I actually started listening to 21 Pilots a lot to try and understand it and it has actually really helped me . The most difficult part was I was very close to all three of them and I didn’t see it coming at all which made me feel guilty about not seeing it. Between 21 pilots and Linkin Park I don’t feel guilty anymore. Sorry for making this a therapy session 😂 I actually rarely talk about it.
this song is one of the best written songs in the history of music - it can hit everyone differently - he used a real life moment that made him think deeper about what the car radio actually meant to him - it was a way to distract himself from what's really going on - so everyone has a different "car radio" - it can be music, movies, working out, reading, etc - whatever distracts you from what's going on - but if you were all of a sudden not able to workout, could you deal with what's going on? the music video sort of provides a distraction as well - when he has the mask on and everyone is going crazy, you forget about what the song is really about because so much is going on - then at the end, he takes off the mask (his hair is back) and he's back to the same nervous/anxious person from the beginning
Tyler literally said there is no deeper meaning, he wrote this song over his car radio being stolen out of his car and being too broke to buy a new one. What people find is cool but what he meant is nothing more than what he sings.
One of the top TOPs for me! Loved how y'all were so into catching the lyrics, and you did well 😊 Also loved how you picked up on the visuals that really enhance this song. In the end, his hair is back. It's a good representation of how dealing with issues is cyclical, hence he ends where he began lyrically and visually, alone with no one there to catch him. But my fave part of this song is where the fans lift him up as the beat drops and carry him back to the stage. He's showing us we can get through it with help from our frens, and when there's something to replace what's in that slot. (Future hint: you'll find out the fate of that slot later when you get to the Trench album!) 😉 Since no one's mentioned yet, Tyler actually had his car radio stolen years ago, which is what inspired this song. Little creative genius. And yes, they asked the audience to be still so they could shoot this vid. Tyler's always had such a captivating stage presence. This is one of my faves in concert. We all sing the ohhhh part as Tyler climbs on the tower. Or up two teirs. Or the stage scaffolding. You know, whatever he can find to climb. Anyway, the unison of the fans singing before the beat drops brings me to tears every time. Thanks for doing this one! |-/ 🤍❤️🤍
I have always felt in the end there when he falls off the stage that he mimes shooting himself… right before he falls. The last lyric is “and now I just sleep.” Earlier in the song he mentions there’s 2 things: faith and sleep. Faith is to think is to be alive… so sleep equates to death. 🤷♂️ Not sure if that’s what his intent was, but it’s a powerful message. Being surrounded by others for support leads to life (the ability to fight negative thoughts and self-harm), being alone with our thoughts leads to death. The ultimate message being that we need to lean on others for support when we’re going through serious mental shit!
Heyyyy❤😅never listened this song before but I'm just here should be sleeping because it's 1:30am where I live in Jamaica and saw this just pop up so let's like, comment and watch 😅❤
The fans generally love this song and often recommend it as a first listen to tøp. I think it’s a good idea to listen to a few other songs of theirs first, so glad you have got to this now. More twenty one pilots reactions please!!!!
"Someone stole his car radio" metaphorical, aka his heart. When he says i h*te this car that im driving he means he h*tes himself and who he is or has become. Apparently he did really have someone steal his car radio and he had to sit with his thoughts in silence thus the inspiration for the song but this song is a double entendre. He is also referring to himself his body as the car, and the car radio as his happiness or his heart.
Yes, they all stood still 4 the filming (inside info: wasn't known by the crowd this was gonna happening. they were there 4 concert show. they just asked of they would). and if you're just now learning of them, you'll SOON find out, they hold God-like status among their followers. And their live shows are the most iconic, along with creativity/talent/energy/uniqueness/instrumentation. *they actually gave each other (ACTUAL) tattoos with tattoo machine onstage once. not even joking. so...yeah. they're amazing.
Fucking A. Great song. Will you 2 be my new stoner buddies? LoL. Have you guys seen the footage of the fan that gave them a car radio right after they did the song in their concert set? I can send the links. It's dope, they signed it for her and let her backstage lol. I LOVE THIS BAND!!!

@Barren God this is incorrect lol
I don't believe that. It's deeper..
@@RealReactions no idea where that came from lol - probably trolling
Some say that Car Radio is what put them on the map, Stressed Out just made them bigger.
RIDE is where the vibe is tho. 🙌🏼
