- My now husband, Brandon, and I spent all 4 years of dating long distance during the school years. I was living about an 8 hour car ride away at the time, so I drove through the night to his mom's house for the weekend. She told him to come over so I could surprise him that morning.

It's hasn't got much to do with ego. It's the sense of responsibility that's drilled into men. It's the instinct to protect the ones we hold dear that makes us not show emotions as much as women do. However, we're humans too. Everybody's got their own share of problems. No matter how supportive those around us are, there are still some issues that remain untold which affects our behaviour at different times which will easily be misunderstood and attributed to egoistic behaviour. No matter how the society changes or how many more genders emerge, the responsibilities of a man won't change. The same applies to women as well.
