If you combine the Datsun with the glider you could have a flying car LOL....there are some good parts left on that car that someone will want for sure...looking forward to your next video ...Karl from eastern Canada
Tim, The glider is an "Easy Riser" biplane hang glider. Referred to as a rigid wing type as opposed to the traditional "kite" or Rogallo wing triangle hang glider. It would be foot launched from a high point, slope or cliff, depending on your level of youth and bravery. A a rule though, the Easy Riser had much better control and performance and a better glide ratio than other hang gliders of the 70's & 80's era. Interesting find... it looks like someone caught a wingtip and boogered it up.
Fascinating info, thanks Leeroy. I don't think I've got the youth and bravery to try it out, or take on the repairs it needs. I listed it on Facebook Marketplace
@@mr.goodpliers6988 tell Joe those Galaxies racing in Europe were special mix of NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA bits, homologated under FIA (the international motor sports association) rules, they were very unique with full race 427 side-oiler engines and beat up Jaguar in the British Saloon Car Championship so bad that it left racing for 12 years! I think Holman Moody out of Charlotte, North Carolina built them and if you ever find one it'd be worth north of $500K.
I got to talk with him some. Most farmers are fairly plain people, but he had some unique interests and hobbies. The large sailboat was bought new in North Carolina, then made its way to the Great Lakes around Chicago or Michigan, then he was the third owner who brought it to Kansas
chicken houses had chicken wire with hay or straw in the ceiling and walls and the chickens put out the heat. They were very warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. Also had many mites and rats.
Thosemotorcycles were really really great buys. Any running bike is worth 1000 to 1500 minimum. Judging by the commentary I would say a good wash and it would be roading time. I live too far awy to get in on the deals, but you seem to find the best, even that roached Datsun has some highly valued parts. If nothing else the boys had fun in it.
Spot on. The secret is to go to an auction where you know the crowd would have no clue about the item you want. Those bikes with titles would be gone for twice these sums without doing anything and much more if you spend some time detailing them.
The chicken feeder was actually a nesting box for chickens to lay eggs in I'll bet you if you went to your local co-op you'd be looking at $300 easily take care
The Datsun was known in Australia as the Datsun Fairlady. Those in club motor sport were hesitant at first due to the feminine name but they proved to be a car that was the equal to the popular MGB's etc. Easily maintained and tuned at home. Suitable for driving to the track, competing and driving back home.
Chicken coop, straw kept it warm . Chickens don’t lay a lot when it’s cold. So you up production by keeping them warm but not hot! Wish I knew where I could find a COE for 1500 to 1800!
Did you know there's a company that builds FAA certified Corvair engines (110hp?) for light aircraft? ;-) My mom had worked at a tire store (bookkeeper) and was given a free set of Michelin tires for our 64 Corvair convertible. It was funny, this small woman trying to tell a gas station attendant, the tires weren't flat. ;-D
My brother had a Datsun 2000. Had the 2000cc engine instead of the 1600cc. His was almost factory fresh. Quick and fun sports car. Where I live you couldnt touch that little sailboat for less than 2 grand
The small sailboat was a smart buy I thought. Best condition of the three since it had been stored inside. If anyone is in the market for roadsters, boats, or motorcycles, I'd recommend going bargain shopping for them on days when the weather is below freezing!
Someone else said it but that was a chicken roost or at least where they could lay their eggs. My grandparents had chickens and their roosts were galvanized and the eggs would actually roll to the front into an area where the hen couldn't sit on them. The ceilings they had were chicken wire like you saw there and there could be straw on top of the wire. I don't know if it was insulation or why it was there but the chicken wire was so that they couldn't fly up into the rafters.
I was hiding out in my truck to stay warm and just caught it selling as I got out. It brought $2600 which is at the top end of the market. I nearly had frostbite this winter and I can say it's no joke and can happen quickly
Those were imported to the US by Datsun dealers by then, so I'd stick my neck out and say it was bought in the US. Here in Europe they hardly sold back then, a more likely car to bring back from Germany would have been the small 1602 BMW or similar.
Young Farmer: "One of these days I'm gonna leave this farm and go on a big adventure. Maybe sail around the world or fly through the skies like a bird, far, far away from here. Then I'll travel around Europe in one of those little fancy foreign sports cars, paint it candy apple red. Yep, that's what I'm gonna do, you'll see, pops." Middle-Aged Farmer: "Yep, that's what I'm gonna do, you'll see, son." Old Farmer: "Yep, well, best be getting a move on, that field ain't gonna plow itself."
Glad you were able to save the Datsun. The kids sure were having fun as you pulled it to the trailer! Thanks for posting, Tim.
Great find on the Datsun 1600 Roadster that is a rare car😊
those kids are having a ball steering the datsun. joe's a good dad
Those Datsun's are very cool and unique cars. Great that ya'll saved them! 😀
I still have my 1600 Datsun. Fun car to drive.
Love that Datsun Tim, a real score I think.
I think you flying that glider would be some great content. Might just go viral.
Good buy on the Datsun mr pliers not sure about glider cheers 🥂 guys 😊
Good to see the Datsun get a second life
Looked like the boys were having fun driving the Datsun

Nice buy with that's Datsun. Don't see many of them
Looking forward to the "Will It Glide" followup video. Also glad to see the Datsun saved from scrap, even if only for parts.
another great video Mr. Goodpliers, very enjoyable 👍

Great Videos Guys , Love the content !!!
Glade to see you saved the roadster as a guy that has 3 of them nice to see the parts saved. I would be interested in a couple of the parts you have.

Grab the datsun. Very collectable.

Great purchases Tim that glider is cool that dodge pickup I thought went cheep all in all the prices were down
Cold day, but a large enough crowd. I can definitely say a 15 degree morning is a great time to shop for bargains on motorcycles!

Glad you got the Datsun. Like to have it new but since I am 6'5" I'd just have to admire it as I couldn't fit in it.
One big advantage of the Datsun over an MG or a Triumph. No Lucas electronics. which means everything worked.
Wow the Ram was a steal!
Those red line hot wheels ❤
The 1600s were pushrod and the 2000 were ohc.
Those 62 date nails are my birth year and my twin sisters
You got the Datsun? Hopefully it's as good as it looked...As sunken farm cars go,that one didn't look too bad!
Would love a video trying to get the Datsun running!

The red car was a Datsun, nice collectible car ,thanks BigAl California
Nice Ford stepside Joe! AL B.

Wonder if that GMC had the rare plaid valve covers? Might not have come with them, but maybe someone swapped them on 😊
Datsun Fairlady became the 240Z
That Datsun is cool Peace out
The old guy must have been sad to see his sailboats go for nothing-it's obvious he loved them at one time.
Straw was used as insulation back before the fibre roll was invented also used in Ireland
That goldfish at the end was being "koi" with everybody as it swam under the ice!
Those sail boats have good scrap value cause of lead in the keel I think it's called.
That ceiling a total fire hazard!
Boat trailers worth more than the whole.
I would LOVE to get a tilt cab truck. But they are always so far away.

That glider might be a very historic piece you'll have to do some research on it.
think the Hot Wheels bug without the sun roof is pretty rare
thats a late 60s Datsun Fairlady ... what motor ?
I bet the large boat was taken to the dump and the guy just kept the trailer.
If the boat lost its floatation, that's the way to go.
We can get rid of fiberglas ones as construction & demolition waste for $36/ton. So a three ton boat would be a little over $100
Had one whin I was in high school 73 yes parts in 78 parts were hard to find needed a steering gear look for a year and one half
Will it run video....lol
That was a chicken nesting box in the farm shed. Not a chicken feeder. 🐔
That could have fooled me too.
Straw ceiling was probably inslation for the chicken house?
Kind of a grim reaper. I can see why the old guy would want it to go away.
Sailboats went cheap. Motors must be junk
You didn't record the outcome on the box trailer for Joe?
I was hiding out in my truck to stay warm and just caught it selling as I got out. It brought $2600 which is at the top end of the market. I nearly had frostbite this winter and I can say it's no joke and can happen quickly
Round thing was a boiler or part of one
Why does it always sound like Forest Gump is giving a voice over in your videos?
Hey that's not a chicken feeder that's a chicken Nestor for laying eggs I used to have one just like it
Could have fooled me.
👍👍
Tough crowd. Didn't want to part with their money.
Green Datsun maybe came back from Germany with serviceman.
Those were imported to the US by Datsun dealers by then, so I'd stick my neck out and say it was bought in the US. Here in Europe they hardly sold back then, a more likely car to bring back from Germany would have been the small 1602 BMW or similar.
I only have one question are you going to fly the glider
It needs a few repairs, and I don't think I've got the time or the interest to take it on, so it's listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace
Where and when was this auction? If you don't mind, thanks.
It was between Oxford and Udall Kansas on February 17, 2024
NOTHING LIKE THIS IN PENNSYLVANIA
Semi trailer sell?
Yes, $2600. That's on the higher end of what they bring around here
Thats a canoe not a row boat though it can be rowed
What was the deal with the frog emoji while filming the Datsun roadster the second time Tim ? 🤔
he either burped or farted. 🙂
i vont to by the erly 20 t ford toy hov muth
airon cast
Those little Datsuns were actually on the road before the MGB…. So who copied who is the question…
You need a new mic. The high pitch coming through is a bad ear ring. Please fix.
I hear bad high pitch noise on a lot of utubers lately
@@stevevogelman3360 paused the video and it stopped. Hurts to watch the video. Sorry I'm an ass but wanted you to know.
