CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) uses an old movie to intimidate Mr. Hector (Tim Curry) and the hotel staff.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
John Hughes and Chris Columbus repeat their best-selling formula from the first Home Alone film with this sequel. Once again Kevin McCallister's (Macaulay Culkin) family leave him behind, only now he gets on a flight to New York instead of going with his family to Miami. Kevin manages to hail a cab and is delivered to the doorsteps of the Plaza Hotel, where, using his father's credit card, he rents out a suite and has the time of his life -- although a smarmy hotel clerk (Tim Curry) and bellboy (Rob Schneider) eye him with suspicion. But ingenious Kevin keeps them at bay, using the same tomfoolery he applied to his uncle in the first picture. He takes time out from his consumer debauch to chat with a friendly old toy-store magnate (Eddie Bracken) and pontificate to a homeless Pigeon Lady (Brenda Fricker) on the meaning of Christmas. But then he runs into his old enemies Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern).When he finds out that they plan on robbing the old man's toy store on Christmas Eve, he mans the battle stations once again, complete with electric prods, flames of fire, and sundry blunt instruments.

The rare sequel that successfully duplicates the formula of the first film while doing enough new things to make it unique and enjoyable.
I wouldn't say little ideas. I mean the bandits get more messy in this one. Not to mention that it shows how much harder it'd be for Kevin to hide his battles from his family this time. Plus he's in New York City instead of at home.
This and the Dark Knight, Empire Strikes Back, the Two Towers, Chamber of Secrets, Die Hard 2, Terminator 2 are prime examples of your statement. I agree.
So true but today sequels prequels reboots haven't got all of that in fact I prefer the classics like home alone but in all fairness can you imagine frank vincent playing that guy in the movies Kevin likes to watch. Just saying

Well, don't forget he did have that seemingly embarrassing encounter with what he thought was Kevin's father singing 'Cool Jerk' in the shower and then threatening him with a slapping, the previous evening. He probably thinks Johnny is the brother of Kevin's father, and is referring to that.

It’s incredible how the hotel room events of the consecutive days link to each other. Rather convenient how the room Kevin was in had a partition wall, enabling him to trick the concierge with the clown dancing behind the shower curtain to Cool Jerk and with Uncle Frank’s recorded voice on his first night, then he was able to trick the same man, Cedric, the desk clerk, Cliff and the security guard with thinking that Johnny was talking to them partly about what had happened the previous day, up until carrying out his threat to open fire.

Tim Curry is one of the most underrated actors. He totally gets into his roles. We go from the menacing Pennywise to this highly sophisticated hotel manager.

In one of his greatest quotes he says that he's not your typical leading man kind of actor and that he frankly has no desire to be. Tim Curry absolutely owns the role! I always felt he was a bit underrated as an actor, like he never truly got the credit he deserved, not from fans but from the industry. The transition in the film from the cartoon Grinch smiling to Tim Curry smiling as he finds Kevin's credit card has been reported stolen is one of the greatest transitions in film, it's damn near a perfect match. Also, when the McCallister's show up at the hotel and Catherine O'Hara is talking to Tim Curry and she slaps him, his reaction of slight teary eyes and quivering lip is such a great comedic moment - the timing, the performance, the shaky voice, it's just brilliant!

What a film. Decided to re-watch it on Christmas, and it legit gave me so many throwbacks. Hard to find comedic films like these that don't overdo it. An iconic film for the season, and an unforgettable one. This one and the first one were legit perfections from the franchise. Great story, comedy, emotion and what a cast in their prime. Truly worth watching and always remember - Kevin could have phoned the police at any time, and all his troubles would of been gone, but it was never about that!

Such an iconic & legendary Christmas movie, a Christmas movie you honestly can't go without watching one of the Home Alone movies especially this iconic scene. I remember watching this for the first time during my childhood back in elementary school and finally decided to finally re-watch it on Christmas for the second time, and the amount of nostalgia it gave me was amazing. Like even though I only watched this for the first time during my childhood, I still remembered most of the movie and what happened. It's honestly very difficult to find any humorous Christmas movie classics or Christmas movies created in general like this one that don't over do it. It's a movie with humor, but yet emotion. Giving you a true meaning for Christmas in a sense, which is love, and to enjoy it to the fullest with those you love, thankful and not take things for granted. A movie that is truly unforgettable and personally in my opinion the best movie out of all the Home Alone movies. One with humor, emotion, and yet meaning. Of course, the first one is also amazing, and the one that started it all, both are perfect, but I would still rank this first because they honestly nailed it once again which even today is something very difficult to do when a sequel comes out or when they have to create a new story. Such a great movie & what a cast they had, especially the number of icons as well as legends they had. Truly unforgettable and always worth a watch. Of course, there are always jokes of it, like that Kevin could have always phoned the police at any time, and all his troubles would of been gone, but that's what makes this movie unique and funny. We got to experience his journey throughout all the hilarious, meaningful movies. Glad to have watched this once again, especially with my twin brother which has always been a tradition of ours to pick out a movie to watch on Christmas. 12.26.22.
That’s so nice and agree. I agree Home Alone 2 is better because better humor and Tim Curry really steals the show, such a funny role. I agree Home Alone 1 and 2 are such classics. The gun scenes and Harry and Marv being attacked by the traps make me laugh. They must’ve had so much fun doing it. Home Alone 1 and 2 are one of my favorite and comfort movies.

In Home Alone we had John Candy who really stood out in his scenes, in this one it was meant to be the Legendary Tim Curry. The man is an insanely underrated actor, this role, his role in Annie and of course his portrayal of Long John Silver are his best roles in my mind.

It's kind of weird, as a kid watching this I always looked at Tim Curry as a villain, like no better than Harry or Marv. But he really wasn't doing anything other than his job lol, like he just had a hunch Kevin was shady and sure enough he was using a stolen credit card. He never was really "evil" or out of line, even when he was fooled during the shower scene, he just wanted to know if there really was a father around or if Kevin was lying to everyone.
