It works. You can spray a glass clear over the hubcap to seal it.
Also for the center logo, instead of masking, spray tge red paint into a cup and you can then brush paint it in a few coats.

Looks great! I'm going for a more rugged off road look, so, no hub caps. I'm going to remove the old Dunlop street tires, use a pressure washer sand blaster accessory to remove the old paint (silver over black) from the rims, powder coat the rims black, then install the new Yokohama Geolander tires.
When I painted the exterior of my white Hijet mini truck with gray Monstaliner polyurethane bed liner, I masked the large chrome irregular oval emblem on the front and then sprayed the same black Rustoleum Bumper & Trim paint that I used for the external rear view mirrors, cargo be latches, etc. into the cap from the rattle can and then used a model paint brush to paint a couple of coats of the black paint into the Hijet logo in the chrome emblem. It looks a lot nicer than the old weathered black paint that was in there. You could do something similar for the inset Honda logos in the hubcaps.
PS - For Christmas, I bought myself a custom kei truck license plate from Custom Japanese Plates. The quality is very nice and the website allowed me to choose whatever text I wanted on the license plate. I went for a 704 on top and the larger 1776 on the bottom line (4th of July, 1776, because I like liberty). I'm usually not much for aesthetics, but the yellow and black faux Japanese license plate really looks good on the front of the gray Hijet.

Looks good. A few coats of gloss clear coat paint over the top will make it all shinier/glossier. It will also helpprotect the paint underneath.
I would definitely paint the wheel behind it black too.

Great suggestions! I may add that to my long list of things to get done on the truck 🤣

Unsure if you're already doing this but to get rid of the tendency for the spray paint to clump up I always submerge the cans in hot water for about 10 minutes before I spray it seems to really help! Looks amazing~

I like them. I would paint the steel wheel red to give that extra pop behind the hub cap.

That’s an interesting idea! I would have to see how that would look. Maybe I could do a test wheel

Hello and good evening not to bother you. I was just wondering if you can tell me a little more about 500 yen shop, as far as how much were your caps when it was all finalized as far as the sale. Not including your restoration and time. Everything appears to be really cheap. But I want to know like the end result, I really appreciate you getting back to me.Thank you so much, be well.

Hi, first you make an account on 500 yen shop. They give you 500 yen for signing up! Meaning first item transaction fee is free. Load up your account with more Yen. Then make bids on listings you want. Each listing you win will cost 500 Yen(transaction fee) + cost of the item + shipping. 500 yen shop will give you shipping quote for all your items and then you pay from the money in your account. I used PayPal to transfer USD to YEN.
It was awhile ago and I had a few items in my package, but I think when I did the math the hubcaps worked out to be around $35 USD. I hope that helps! So far 500 yen has been the cheapest parts compared to shopping local and eBay.
I found the math I did a few months ago.
      --------
I spent $183.79 on 4 items and shipping
On eBay, similar products w/ free shipping $270
Savings: $86.21 from using 500 yen shop

I just wanted to say thank you very much for your input & time in explaining the process as far as 500 yen shop, also just for your knowledge, eBay is not horrible You just got to pay close attention.. As in You'll find one thing for 300 & go uggh.. An hour later 65 beans, same item. Also it's a little expensive because a lot of the international japanese sellers, they don't charge shipping. So it's kind of like everything's included in the price. I've had nothing but excellent experience with the overseas sellers even as far as they're messaging/responding considering the 13 hour time difference from where I'm located. Thank you again and be well if you need anything feel free to reach out.

Painting the steels black will make a big difference.. the hubcaps will look even better against red body colour.

      @JulesMariani  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I paid about 80 USD in shipping for a medium sized box. I’m not sure how much wheels would cost. You can ask 500YenShop for an estimate of shipping
