Despite their success, both Jane and Mickey had more then their share of hard times. Towards the end particularly. The irony being that their daughter, Mariska, ended being far more successful financially then either of them. It's estimated that Mariska is worth about 100 million, a number both her parents never even dreamed of ever having.
Well in their days, 100 million would be about 10 million. Jayne's contract at 2.5k a week for 6 years would be about 70 million today adjusted for inflation, and that doesn't even include her Vegas act or publicity appearances.

I loved both of Mariska's Parents as actor's, Jayne Mansfield was The BIGGEST BLONDE BOMBSHELL IN HOLLYWOOD in those years. After her death it became "MM". Marilyn was already extremely famous and in numerous movies before Jayne hit the scenes. Marilyn is the original.
I love me some Jayney, but "MM" was the #1 BB in those years, and MM was already a star before Jayne made it. That said, I think Jayne was hotter, and actually lived up to the Sexpot role in her real life. She loved sex and had lots of kids. MM, no. MM was troubled and was used by men. Jayne did what she wanted and was happy.

Mickey truly loved her until the end. Such a shame how much he was mistreated by his wife. Not too much is mentioned here, but she had multiple affairs in the studio system that Mickey was aware of, was caught in bed with two men in her home, watched after their children while she was off getting drunk and talking to her future third husband on the phone. I know she did love, but she was so self serving she couldn't hold on to her good thing while she had it.

@@kirkpatrick7475I just finished reading Raymond Strait's biography of Jayne. He was her publicist and friend for 10 years. He said that Mickey was already married as well when they met and the couple was sued by Mickey's ex wife for more child support when she found how much Jayne and he were pulling in. She would make snide remarks about how she had little respect for Mickey because he took her back despite the infidelity and that that wasn't a very "manly" thing. She grew bored of him quickly. And Mariska is actually Nelson Sardelli's child, but Mickey raised her as his own and I think kidnapped her because she wasn't safe with Jayne (this was around the time she started taking drugs to control her weight).
The biography does not paint a favorable portrait of Jayne, but it does play the facts straight of what he witnessed. And near the very end, it was a dang mess of her life in her own making. Sam Brody, he last lover, even said that she was one of the most self-centered narcissistic people he's ever met, and that she would beat her infant son, Tony, because of the trouble his father was giving Jayne in custody.
Jayne was an intelligent, caring person... The “dumb blonde routine” was fake... The same was true of Marilyn Monroe...

I think that Jayne was a Daddy's girl and there was a vacuum that couldn't be filled. I think that her parents should have not let her date so young. Her Stepfather seems very nice in interviews. My guess is that she suffered from her father dying when she was so young. The fact that she said that she thought that she would die at the same age as her dad-34-to Mickey Hargitay-is frightening.

I believe she sold herself as a busty blonde pretty woman. And that makes me sad, bc there was certainly so much more in her that probably not so many people wanted to see in her. It's like when interviewers ask actresses if theyve woirn panties and a bra under their costume instead of asking why they had chosen this and that role. My older aunt's said they were friends of the Mansfield family and said Jayne was very sweet and she really didn't die in that car accident that she had to go into hiding for or because of family issues. The settlement she received provided for her and to live out in a large estate in California and nobody even question to who she was because she kept a low life style and lived on a ranch. Crazy right . My aunt's said my family was into trades like farming trades of sheep and Jayne was very smart and only close family and a handful of friends knew and had to sign a no talk clause to who she was . I think this is crazy can anyone comment on this?. Also my aunt's named my dad after her they said something that it was agreed or an agreement that my dad had to share her name so they named my dad Jay..after Jayne cool right.. it just batshit crazy!!
