I was referred to your channel through a Smokey Ribs video, and am very glad it happened. I have a Pit Barrel smoker which has been fun, but have been wanting a pellet grill for over a year. There are so many with prices all over the place that I haven't been able to land on one. I was drawn to the Grilla product early on, but kept thinking I had to spend more to get quality and reliability after reading way too many opinionated Facebook posts. Hearing someone like you who isn't advertising or selling anything give a good honest opinion from the heart sealed the deal for me. Thank you for the refreshing honesty. By far the best review of a pellet smoker I have seen. I have been bouncing back and forth between a Grilla and Green Mountain, but I haven't been able to decide. I was terrified of spending that money even though its way cheaper than some other brands without seeing it in person. There are dealers around Oklahoma that deal Green Mountain and I have a co-worker that uses one and was starting to lean towards the GMG, but I think I am back on the Silverbac train. Thank You for the great review, I believe you have made my decision a lot easier.
My Rectec lid is warped and the rubber seal is melting off. Those braces are a great idea. I really want to get the Silverbac and the kitchen island is pretty cool too. I used the wifi once on my rectec and I don't really care that grilla doesn't have that. Its not hard to just go check your grill and change the temp on the grill. I am never leaving the grill alone for long enough that having an app matters.

Smitty, great review of the Silverbac. I have only had mine for about four months, but I’m having the same great experience, loving it. My grill being a little newer, it came with the lid strengtheners that you had trouble with, so again it appears Mark is on top of keeping up the quality of the products. I think I mentioned this to you in a previous comment, my only add on has been the front shelf, and again I highly recommend you invest in that, you will love it!

Great review. I currently have a Traeger. 5 years old and it is very rusted internally. I also have a hole in the fire bowl. I have been very happy with my Traeger but I am liking what I am seeing with the grila.

I would think that they would, but I don't know that for sure because I haven't personally used the Thermoworks probes. I will say, I have laid my hands on the GMG, and the "feel test" goes to Silverbac by a landslide. Silverbac is way more solid. Thanks for your comment and for watching Raul!
Raul Gonzalez you have to weigh what is more important to you. For me, I would rather have less to worry about tearing up, and a better built product that will last. Which ever one you choose, I hope you get what you want and enjoy it.
There’s something I wish they would add to the lid is a high heat gasket around the edge of the lid. I seen this on another brand of smoker and I thought that was pretty neat. And to add to that I didn’t see any smoke coming from the lid when we were using it. Let’s just say it’s a 1300 model from Traeger. I can’t afford that one but I can afford a silverbac so if they have something by the time I order it great if not, that’s something I will just add to it myself. Great review I’m sold thank you.

I do have a two part question: Do you feel the engineering helps reduce the consumption of pellets and does the Silverbac offer an advantage grilling during colder outside temperatures?
Accesories,,,we are guys,,the first thing I do with a new used truck is usually change the wheels and tires,,,better radio if it needs it,,,etc,,,is the same grill you bought,,,just spiffed up to make it better for you,,,simple,,,,grill on brother,,,also,,,have you ever used the Kong,,,thats the one Im interested in,,,let me know if you would>
Thanks, after watching more videos the noise was not noticeable, however, I did hear the blower when the grill was open and it was not objectionable. Must have been the mic in the videos I saw.
Watched all of this one too. No auger or controller issues in a year? Good honest review! I know the Rec-Tec is more and your video narrowed to these two.
No auger issues, and no controller issues other than a frog getting into the wires.......Mark Graham had it replaced in about 3 days. I live about 2 hours from Rec-Tec...but would still go with Grilla again if I had to do it over. Good luck with your choice, and I hope it works out well either way.
Hi Sandy, I’ve not yet purchased a pellet grill but hopefully will soon. One of my concerns is the ability to ‘sear’ the meat. Does this gorilla sear? Thanks for the wonderful review!!
tman111195 thanks for watching and the comment. To be honest, 90% of my cooks are under/at 300F. I don’t sear alit, even ribeyes. But I have had my SB up to 500 degrees as well. This sounds like a good idea for my next video!
Hows it holding up to this day? I am stuck between the original and the alpha. The only difference is it's all SS internally vs basic steel on the original
Great video. My big concern after viewing some videos on the Silverbac is noise. Some of the videos the noise of the blower sounds like that of a Salamander heater very loud. Where I cook with a grill is on my deck and most of the time my guests are sitting there and I'm worried the noise would too much competition for their conversations. What is your experience?
To be honest, I haven't really noticed it. I'm cooking on my back porch usually, right beside our sitting area. I think sometimes mics in videos amplifies sounds a bit.
Feels nice to do a video in the sun huh? Birds singing in the background, spring can't come soon enough! Good video, are you having trouble with grease sitting in the trough before it goes to the grease can? sometimes I have a build up in the back right hand corner of the trough. By the way, the fact you don't have a shelf yet is killing me, I need to buy you one or Grilla should sponsor you one based on this video.
Lol....the shelf is on the list. Gotta buy meat before a shelf though. Ha! I haven't had any trouble with grease build up so far. Thanks for watching Chris!
I’ve had my Silverbac for a month now I love it. The only thing I don’t like about it is if you have gravel where your Silverbac is going to go is it a bit of a pain to move with the small wheels on it hopefully Grilla Grills will make some bigger wheels for it. Other than that it’s a great grill.

I am deciding to go with grilla or rec tec and i am caught on the fence. People talk about the pellet dump being a bad idea because it lets moisture in and messes up the pellets and auger. Do you find this to be true? Also can i leave my extra pellets in the hopper? Thanks

Just seasoned mine in Michigan and held heat well. Heated up to 400 very quickly consider the outside temp in January. Think we made a great choice.👍

So, I have a Weber Kettle, Weber Smokey Mountain, and Weber gas grill, but I'm looking to add a pellet grill in the mix. Thanks for the review.

I think the engineering helps in heat retention, which in turn helps fuel consumption and cooking in colder temps! No blankets needed for this beast!

Accesories,,,we are guys,,the first thing I do with a new used truck is usually change the wheels and tires,,,better radio if it needs it,,,etc,,,is the same grill you bought,,,just spiffed up to make it better for you,,,simple,,,,grill on brother,,,also,,,have you ever used the Kong,,,thats the one Im interested in,,,let me know if you would>

Thanks, after watching more videos the noise was not noticeable, however, I did hear the blower when the grill was open and it was not objectionable. Must have been the mic in the videos I saw.
Watched all of this one too. No auger or controller issues in a year? Good honest review! I know the Rec-Tec is more and your video narrowed to these two.
No auger issues, and no controller issues other than a frog getting into the wires.......Mark Graham had it replaced in about 3 days. I live about 2 hours from Rec-Tec...but would still go with Grilla again if I had to do it over. Good luck with your choice, and I hope it works out well either way.

Hi Sandy, I’ve not yet purchased a pellet grill but hopefully will soon. One of my concerns is the ability to ‘sear’ the meat. Does this gorilla sear?

tman111195 thanks for watching and the comment. To be honest, 90% of my cooks are under/at 300F. I don’t sear alit, even ribeyes. But I have had my SB up to 500 degrees as well. This sounds like a good idea for my next video!
Hows it holding up to this day? I am stuck between the original and the alpha. The only difference is it's all SS internally vs basic steel on the original
Great video. My big concern after viewing some videos on the Silverbac is noise. Some of the videos the noise of the blower sounds like that of a Salamander heater very loud. Where I cook with a grill is on my deck and most of the time my guests are sitting there and I'm worried the noise would too much competition for their conversations. What is your experience?
To be honest, I haven't really noticed it. I'm cooking on my back porch usually, right beside our sitting area. I think sometimes mics in videos amplifies sounds a bit.

Good video, are you having trouble with grease sitting in the trough before it goes to the grease can? sometimes I have a build up in the back right hand corner of the trough. By the way, the fact you don't have a shelf yet is killing me, I need to buy you one or Grilla should sponsor you one based on this video.

I’ve had my Silverbac for a month now I love it. The only thing I don’t like about it is if you have gravel where your Silverbac is going to go is it a bit of a pain to move with the small wheels on it hopefully Grilla Grills will make some bigger wheels for it. Other than that it’s a great grill.
I can understand that. A new cart is coming, but I have also seen some people modify them with bigger wheels.

I am deciding to go with grilla or rec tec and i am caught on the fence. People talk about the pellet dump being a bad idea because it lets moisture in and messes up the pellets and auger. Do you find this to be true? Also can i leave my extra pellets in the hopper? Thanks
I don't think it will let moisture in anymore than the lid to the hopper will, but I think the pellet dump is overrated. I never use it.

Was this the original silverbac? I see the current 3 offerings, 2 of them have stainless steel burn pot and drip pan. The original does not.
What's your opinion on the traeger. I'm really liking this one
I think the Pro series of Traegers are good products, as well as the Timberline series.
