Next Step Healthcare is catered to working closely with major hospitals in the surrounding Atlanta area and has had the opportunity to partner with major non-profits for the medically fragile and has catered needs included but not limited to trach and vent care, phlebotomy, medication administration, personal hygiene assistance, incidental transportation and more. He is committed to expanding the legacy of excellent home health care that began over 5 years ago. What state do you teach in?
As a chronically ill person with 3 ER visits in the last two years, this talk hit me HARD! The thought of at-home hospital care saving me those thousands of dollars, those agonizingly long wait times, and that frustrating understaffing... pure relief!
This entrepreneur is a hero for bringing this to the people. Healthy folks don't always see the complex needs and challenges of chronic illness until they're in the thick of it. The ER just isn't always equipped for us, with our undiagnosed mysteries and flare-ups. A broken leg for example is obvious, but distinguishing a flare from a heart attack? That's a whole different ball game.
This technology could be a game-changer for so many of us. Thank you for shining a light on this crucial need, and for building a business that's not just about profits, but about making lives better. You give hope to those of us who know the nightmare cycle of hospital corridors and endless tests.

Great perspective! I like niches! I teach home health aids/techs how to work safely out in the field. Few teach personal safety in the home, new neighborhoods, dealing with possible threats, etc.

Curious to know what EHR home health companies typically use to track the care being provided? How are referrals and associated data/info shared from Hospital to home health?

It is the future if Medicare and insurance companies don't implement the pay cut for home health agencies. Other than that, the reimbursement isn't worth it half of the time.
This young man seems enthusiastic and a visionary within the home healthcare industry. However, I do not see him as the norm. Home health after hospital care may be somewhat different than if a potential client initiates service after losing self-care abilities and requires help in the home. This often foregoes moving into an Assisted Living facility. Some issues I've seen are the vast shortage of aides and agencies' high turnover; hence, the client receives subpar care.
Due to the high turnover of aides, some clients do not know who will show up at their door, so a stranger enters the home without any introduction. Another challenge that probably poses the most danger to the client and the aide-is the overworking of aides who must work 12-to 24-hour shifts without breaks or rest. There isn't a law in many states that prohibits this practice. Hence, we have a potential for various types of accidents.
I think Mr. Gooch is an exemplar for mentoring those who own home health care agencies. He seems to care and has a grasp on some of the modern problems facing home health care.
I think it can’t sustain itself. The point system and Oasis charting will strangle it out. Seems like HH should grow but I bet you something else will happen.
Agencies may be thinking they are going to get rich but they won’t find the nurses to do their bidding
I am a HH acute and hospice RN, and I know what you are talking about and totally agree. Right now, the HH industry is lacking the ability to hold on to good staff and have to resource many times to contract nurses. I love that I can help and make a difference in someones life, but I became a contract nurse because, I am disappointed with employers abuse and the overwhelming documentation. Also the pay is not keeping up with the times. Traveling and local contracts is the only sustainable way for me to do HH and I am too old for bedside work in the hospital too that are not any better.

More like the past of healthcare. Many women are going back to home births and having the comfort of personal, on one-on-one attention from a midwife just like back in the day. With healthcare at home, it's just the same with going back in time when physicians came to the patient at a time when hospitals weren't as common.
The whole conversation is so basic and conceptual. He did not really talk about the type of treatments in depth.
If your drawing blood at a clients place of employment what about home bound status?
Under MCR, to qualify for HH service a person has to be homebound. Not to say that they cannot do certain things and some necessary driving, but for the most part that is the rule. Private insures may deviate from this rule a bit, but also follow much of Medicare rules.
