52 is my favourite comic book series. I read it almost every year. All-Straw Sue Dibny is one of the best moments in it. Gives me chills every time, even though I see it coming.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree that no one liked Sue before Identity Crisis. To some she might have been just the wife of Ralph, but to many fans she was just as important as Ralph. Her time running the JLE was fun because she got to be something other than a heroes wife. That’s why when identity Crisis happened, it pissed off a lot of people who enjoyed reading their stories. There was no need for Sue to be treated that way. As for Ralph, some may think of him as a low-rent Plastic Man, but Ralph to me isn’t that at all. He may have similar powers but he’s his own character. He’s a detective, he’s an old friend of The Flash family and he’s not one of these heroes who is bogged down in tragedy. He’s a source of joy in the DC Universe and many people call him a friend.
Thank you 😊 All respect to the hosts but this was an uninformed take on their part. Just because you're not familiar with a character or their impact doesn't mean "no one cares" That being said, highly recommend their comic Jupiter Jet!
Thanks for this history lesson, Jason and Ashley. I was wondering if you could do a history lesson of Plastic Man. Please do Plastic Man. He's awesome. Also, maybe a history lesson of Richard Dragon since he's one of the main villains of Arrow Season 6.
I don't think you were giving Elongated Man his due, at least in the first two thirds of this podcast. What sets him head and shoulders above Plastic Man (who is mainly a joke character) is his stalwart membership in multiple incarnations of the Justice League. It's clear Ashley and Jason haven't read George Pérez's run of JLA from #184 to 200. This is probably my favorite run of the JLA, and Ralph was an integral member of the team during this period. Maybe my favorite EM moment is (in #200) when Hawkman is floating unconscious outside the JLA satellite, and Ralph and Green Arrow are the only people on the satellite. If Ralph doesn't rescue Hawkman, he's going to die. So he straps on a space helmet, gets in the airlock, and stretches farther than he's ever stretched before in order to reach Hawkman and bring him back inside. That was Ralph in a nutshell. When you needed him, he always rose to the occasion. He was great in both the JL Detroit era and Justice League Europe eras, along with Sue. JLE was arguably the better JL title at the time, even though it was the spin-off, because of Ralph and Sue. I loved their relationship. They were a melange of Nick and Nora and Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, but there wasn't anything else like them in comics. Frankly, when they killed Sue off the way they did, I stopped reading comics for a long time. DC had always been my favorite, but that really soured me on DC. I'm not sure I've ever really fully recovered.
I really wish Matthew had done the entire podcast, he obviously loves Ralph and Sue. The overall tone of the rest of the podcast was negative to towards these characters which was really disappointing because i was excited when I clicked on the thumbnail.
I prefer Plas over Elogated anyday. And I still hold out hope that if Plas were ever brought into LA, elements of his origins would be included - in other words, not as jokey. That said, he would "lighten up" over time and learn to embrace the awkwardness of his costume.
Forever Knight I know what happened. It involved Doctor light and The Justice League had to intervene and told Zatanna to lobotomize him. Also this was the identity crisis storyline which also involved Ray Palmers wife.
I've always been Team Plastic Man because of the Plastic Man animated TV show and Plastic baby. Thank you for the history lesson though. I'm now interested in reading Identity Crisis.
I actually wish that ralph would put together his own team of street level and second string heroes a.l.a. X factor investigations but much light heart and fun. The first cover would have the team jumping down from the rooftops, with sue in a fieldsuit. She would act do stuff as she would be a much more proactive, resourceful, and sometimes wild card player then she was before but still have that domestically inclined personality, making her tje soul of the team in a defined way. They could even better characterized Sue and Ralph's marriage as she keeps him anchored and not overstretched while he keeps her relaxed and not emotionally overtaxed, show their happy life takes effort to make it work.
Adventist I'm more of a conceptualist, so I would need some people to work with to help write it. I would also need to think of who would make interesting team members. The one rule would that they would need to be like a family; they stand together through thick and thin and never give up. You can get a bit dark in some capers, but it must never lose it's heart.

I hope they introduce Sue Dibny as much as I hope they _don't_ introduce Doctor Light. Those two do not mix.
Just Some Guy with a Mustache pretty sure they introduced doctor light last season or the one before that one. I feel like they did but I may be wrong
Nick Owen No, you're right. They already introduced Doctor Light in Season 2 as one of Zoom's Manhunter Metas on Earth-Two.
The other Doctor Light. The really, really bad one.
Yeah right lol
Just Some Guy with a Mustache Linda Park’s dopple ganger was doctor light. I doubt the comic story line will play out on the show
Really hope one day you guys do a GHL of Hawk & Dove
This is my all time fav super hero THANK YOU
If its not to much to ask could "we" get a video on Michal John Carter aka Booster Gold
Yess!!
I think we need the character to be introduce in live action first, to get his/her geek history lesson.
Well, he's been in Smallville...I say go for it!
Sufyan Ramadhan Hes in smallville so thats his live action debut

Elongated man is better than plastic man

I'm afraid to even read identity crisis because of what happens 😅 I'm hopeful for Sue's character when they introduce her in s6 of the Flash

Yeah, it's kind of hard to listen to since shes mostly tearing him and his wife up 😅 so time to read the comments
Please do plastic man next !

can you review the Batman vs Two-Face movie??
There is that similarity to Reed Richards and Sue Storm for Ralph Dibny and Sue Dibny.
Raghu Seetharaman That's bc Marvel ripped off those 2 characters.
Raghu Seetharaman but Ralph's story is Sad because what happen to his wife if you know what I mean.
Forever Knight I know what happened. It involved Doctor light and The Justice League had to intervene and told Zatanna to lobotomize him. Also this was the identity crisis storyline which also involved Ray Palmers wife.
Can we get a GHL on Fire, B.B. de Costa

I'll like the show
That would make a great TV series. Ralph and Sue are basically Nick and Nora from The Thin Man movie series.
