  • In May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill led Britain to victory. He was celebrated as a hero, but only two months later, the Brits elected a new Parliament and a new Prime Minister, Clement Attlee. Attlee promised to rebuild the country by taking control of the British economy, but it was a disaster. Over in West Germany, they took a different approach and managed an economic miracle. Join Dr Oliver Hartwich, Executive Director of The New Zealand Initiative, explains why this history is relevant to New Zealand today.

If only we didnt have to rely on pay for pay or who you know universities to be gate keepers for knowledge to flow from generation to generation instead of a what could be understudy or apprentice program like the 4,000hours system... or a service based qualification system

Substitute that machine for housing. No matter how well a country is run it has geographical and resource limits.
NZ is only x% urbanised blah blah is an argument that growth it continuous ; that geography is just space.
Human struggles against human they DON'T all "make the boat go faster" as Eric Crampton claimed on The platform.
