    Another great video, thank you. I invested in some Knipex 13 96 200 SB cutters. Does the job of side cutters, long nose and wire strippers in one tool and super powerful for cutting cable.

    2:00 - 3.5mm and 4mm holes I use to cut 3.5mm socket screws and 4mm brass screws to size.
    I use the cable croppers to cut 6mm & 10mm. You can use them on tails as well. Very effective.

      I use a modulo screwdriver for mcbs and screws in the consumers unit. What are your views as I was told that standard Philips screwdrivers damage the heads?

    • @MyTrustedElectrician
      @MyTrustedElectrician  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theinstallerguy786 I've bought 2 sets and snapped the heads off of both of them. Since using the torque drivers to the specified resistance they haven't snapped but the set I have isn't great. I recently used a Wiha torque set (AMAZING). I will buy this and see how I get on with the modulo heads.

    I thought I was the only one who has a tool that they actaully refer to as a "shit chisel". Made me smile. If you like the Wera drivers, try the stainless steels ones, about £30 for a set. Worth the cash.

    Easiest way to fix a knackered lug on a box is to just give it a little squish with pliers so the holes not quite round, then re-tap it with 3.5 tap 👌🏼

    • @MyTrustedElectrician
      @MyTrustedElectrician  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll remember that for next time. Easier then my method

    • @SamMegadeth
      @SamMegadeth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both methods are good 👍🏽
      The 3mm hole in the back of the box is handy when your apprentice has managed to put the box on so pissed that even the adjustable lug doesn't save you 🙄

    The five hole wrench you describe is actually a Footprint wrench, which are still available in small and large sizes from Footprint Tools of Sheffield. They have been in use in plumbing for ever.
    Also Knipex pliers wrench and cobras will see you effortlessly through any job.

    Nice video as always mate. You've got some good stuff! 8,10,13 and 17mm ratchet spanners, sizes sparks commonly use often and worth carrying.
    I use my side cutters for most wire stripping but for flex a set of automatic wire strippers are amazing!

    Another quality video mate, I literally snapped a Driver the other day using it incorrectly bashing through a wall and hit the stud! Saw the CK Plasterboard Punch and got it straight away nice one! Love finding new tools, especially if it means my drivers won’t get knackered!🤣
    I know what you mean about that bag emptying too! Lad on our firm I often work with has the CK version has overfilled it and the amount of times I hear it emptying in the back when I’m whizzing off trying to get away at the end of the day! 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

    Good run through your bag tools. One point about Tool Batteries. If your going to put a battery in your tool box - ensure you put it in something that will cover over the battery terminals. Its easy for the metal tools to create a short and the next thing you know you have a fire in the back of the van.

    Good vid mate. More or less the same tools for domestic jobs.
    One tool tip, I used to dread changing immersions, I could never get a good connection when tightening the CPC because of the poxy earth bar nut thing. Bought some hexagonal long spanner things to undo and tighten. In the bag for life!

    A bit like looking at my old kit: files, junior hacksaw, 2 pairs of crimpers, baby level, rethreading tool.
    Volt stick also handy to check if parts that don't normally carry a voltage are live: boiler casings, pipes, radiators, sinks and appliances etc...I also had a trunking & conduit cutter (mine still has its clip....AND the annoying plate that falls off at the drop of a hat!

    @ my trusted electrician ........a good little number for sparks; Goto Screwfix and join the "electrifix' club they have which costs nothing, they just ask for proof you're a spark so either certs or whatever they ask you for at the time. You'll get a a few bits through the post as you'd expect including some vouchers. I received 6x £10 off vouchers and 1x £20 off, each is dated for about a week (ie, first £10 is valid from 1st dec-6th etc, 2nd for 7th -12th etc) but heres the best bit......you dont need to spend anything to use them! you can use them as cash and just get stuff. I bought a new tape measure for £9.99, new rods etc and used it, there nothing on the terms to say you cant so i did and it worked fine! basically a freebie! used them all for various stuff!👍

    Take a piece of cardboard, cut two pieces to the length of your drywall saw and duct tape them together - this way you make a sheath for the saw blade and it doesn't poke holes in your bag! Or find some edge guard you put around pull boxes and throughs :-)

    For a mini ratcheting device - have a look at Bosch 2607017322 RATCHET SET. Not insulated - but great for those fiddly tight places. Knipex make a great set of tools - bit on teh expensive side but great quality. I like their Cobra adjustable "water pipe wrenches" - they have push button to lock the jaw size. I thought you might have a mole grip in the bag - but that's prob more of a plumbers bit of useful kit.

    I prefer to mix and match brands. Can get better range of gear that way. Some brands do some tools better than others.

      The Fluke T90 what he has hasn't been recalled. Only the others from the T110 up (that were manufactured before a certain date).

    Great vid Luke, just out of curiosity is there many female sparks around your area?

    • @MyTrustedElectrician
      @MyTrustedElectrician  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly no. I've had 2 female apprentices but neither stayed on and completed college. There are plenty of female gas fitters but for some bizarre reason they stear clear of the electrical industry. It would be nice see more appear.

      @@MyTrustedElectrician you don't get female electricians, they are smart and do something where you spend more time on the tools rather than paperwork.
