- Hey guys, here is another video of our Native American Heritage Week series. This video is explaining the significant behind Navajo traditional clothing. Honestly this brought tears to my eyes. Growing up on the reservation in red rock NM I was raised by my mom and grandparents. My grandparents didn't speak English very well, so we learned navajo very early. Anyway, I was ignorant and was to involved with school and sports that I never took the time to listen to my grandparents:'( my grandmother was a weaver and she was amazing. None of us in the family paid attention. Now my grandparents have been gone for many years and I haven't been home and present with my Navajo culture that I feel so lost and a lot of times alone. Thank you for sharing this, even though it made me very sad. I didn't know any of what you taught but I do now. Please continue to shared your wonderful Dine teachings💛
It’s never too late my friend. We still have elders around, but don’t wait.
When we are young, it is kind of normal to reject or ignore our culture but then after being in the modern world for a while, you see it doesnʼt have much to offer. You are lucky to know what your culture is and nowadays you can learn so much online. I wish I even knew what native tribe I am from. I loved this video and the words they taught us and the beauty and meaning of each part of the clothing.
I'm part Ojibwa first nations. My woman of over 20 years is Dine'. I love learning her culture and words. It makes her smile and I am in love with her happiness.

Thank you for creating this video. I didn’t know a lot of the things you taught in the video. You girls did a lovely job of saying both Navajo and English for each meaning or material. A suggestion, you should have another video explaining a men’s traditional outfit. Overall, thank you and good job.

i find it interesting the similarities between certain cultures, like with your culture, there is a significance with the umbilical cord and connecting to your parent, the sun, and also fertility, ect. We also have jewelry to symbolize all of this in ancient Nordic/Scandinavian culture. Its lovely.

This video is beautiful!! I am from southern Arizona, so I see, smell, hear, and even get to taste Native culture culture sometimes! This video was just awe-inspiring to me! To actually hear you name the items, and then tell us in English-language too! For you to tell us the female piece, and then the male piece too! And to learn all of those representations! This is my 1st time to your channel, and I am in love. I feel like I learned so much, about things around me, that I just had no clue of! Especially the jewelry, that was my favorite part! And I love how respectful you were! About the medicine bag, and not showing everything to the public, you know?
