The rectangular token is actually the “active” player token and replaces the rectangular token from the base game. The first player token is the circular one. You can use them however you want but the intention was for the active player to set the token above the action they were taking and the other players were to use a leaf token on the space on the lower part of the action as a reminder. That’s why the space for the leaf is on the lesser portion of the action and the size of the active player token is the length of the action space. Sometimes when you have a lot to do on a turn, it just helps remind you what you’re doing and who’s turn it is.
