@@randallflagg3700 See, I've never seen Game of Thrones, so my references for him are primarily Man in the High Castle, Turn, and Dark Knigh Rises, as well as this clip, and he has some absolutely great scary acting in all of the above.
That makes him scarier, though - the realization that he's bursting-full of psychotic rage, and that his noble birth gives him position, power, and the license to indulge it.
I just picture the guards holding the guy freaking out as some of the molten lead splashes around while pouring, and hits their hands which are extremely close.
Humans are quite creative when it comes to hurting someone, yet can't draw a stick person. Maybe it's time we use our creative energy for other things.
1:21 I’ve seen a lot of movie people go face first to ground when they do a death scene. That is commitment. The best one I saw was in Django Unchained when he shoots a guy and says “I like the way you die boy.” The actor then falls from standing up to going head first into the ground.
Humans are bloody don't forget we are still animals. Peace and fairness is a lie because the people ruling don't care about that as long as they need it for their goals.
As brutal as this scene is, it is even more horrifying to understand how long his death would've realistically been. Instead of dying within seconds as shown in this scene, Farlow would've suffered for many minutes before succumbing. This is because the molten lead would initially burn his mouth, throat and face regions, but this is not what actually kills you. Lead melts at a temperature of 621 F or 327 C, and at such a high temperature your insides would burn and boil, but your flesh would remain largely intact. He would not have died from the lead as shown here, rather poor Farlow would've died from either suffication, internal bleedings or (more likely) both. This would have taken a long, long time and it would have been an excrutiating, drawn-out death.
In that era, the onlookers would likely have been accustomed to such barbarities from the home country. So they probably wouldn't have been horrified by his suffering the way we would be.
Fun fact: in Ireland the penalty for a woman's infidelity was to be boiled in lead. The Brit's (Protestants) thought that was such an awesome idea, they did this to children (who didn't speak English) who wouldn't renounce Catholicism.
